Current Badge Issues (updated 2-21-06)

Anyway, my main badge guy (Regen scrapper) doesn't even have the healing badge started.........even after playing gladiator matches after the first patch after I6. Including both Arch mage and Warden.

Hence, that's what I *know*. I don't have a healing badge started after playing many gladiator matches with healing mobs on my team.

I too don't like people giving information that they aren't very confident in. But in game where things change, and not always noted from the developers to the players, everyone can't be caught up on things 100% of the time, you'll always have some air of "not sure". If you noticed, I didn't flat out say "NO WAY IN HELL DOES THAT WORK ANYMORE" in the respective thread.

Hence, I know the Glad matches use to work for healing (and mob kill counts). But now I'm not so sure due to my experience, and have seen *no proof* convincing me otherwise. Provide that proof (through screenshots in stages I guess), and I'll gladly change my mind.

I ran a gladiator recently against a villain, who used Cobras. I won the match, but the progress bar for Snake kills did not show up for me. So, by this, one can infer that the mob kill counts have been corrected.

Not "throwing you in the mix for no reason." Throwing you in the mix because you gave a wrong answer. Thank you for proving my point. Things DO change and not everyone is 100% up to date all the time. This is EXACTLY why you shouldn't answer if you "are not so sure due to [your] experience."

Instead of me proving to you that it works, how about you try it for yourself. That way you'll have your own experience before you take the time to tell someone what you "are not so sure about."

This is not a personal attack, even though it's being taken as such. Again, what this is is an appeal to ALL who use this forum to use some restraint in posting misinformation. There is another thread right now about GMs giving bad feedback and info when we petition. We actually play the game, and know more than them in most cases, so it's our responsibility to provide acurate answers to player questions, not speculation and outdated information. Be part of the solution, not the problem.

We can turn this into a flame war, or we can start policing ourselves accordingly. In the meantime, I'm taking my arrogant, pompous, assuming self back to earning more badges.

How was it a *wrong* answer? Did I lie to the guy on purpose? I gave personal experience. Your personal experience is "more correct" because it came from you? Because you are 100% sure RIGHT NOW? After the last patch? After every patch after I6? You got the healing badge 5 minutes ago? THAT IS THE POINT. Things change with every patch, intentionally or not. No one can be up-to-date with every single one. That includes you. When was the last time you got a healing badge from a Gladiator match? What were all of the circumstances?

Errr try again. You're saying I'm wrong. I only related my experience of *what I did*. It's give and take; if you don't believe me about what I did and what I didn't get out of it, why on earth should I believe what you say? PROVE IT, settle it. Be done with it. Instead of just making noise. Or is this back to the notion that what you say is correct because your experience is somehow more tangible than what I did? I couldn't care less about "verifying" your badges off of a fan site. That's still not Dev-blessed that I know of.

[/ QUOTE ] And what exactly is the solution? The *only* solution is for the Devs to hand-feed the players with 100% correct information. But wait! Even they *do not know* what is going on after every patch. Countless posts come from a Dev that goes along the lines of "it should be...." or "I have to check that out" or even "I thought...." etc. Followed up by "in the next patch, this should be fixed......"

And what exactly is the problem? Because one person's experience doesn't match someone else's doesn't mean it's a problem. There could be bugs, there could be various other factors. Unless someone is flat out lying, consider it a quirk of the system.

I gave PERSONAL EXPERIENCE ABOUT WHAT I DID. Not what I heard. Not from some vague reference by some long forgotten post.

But just in case you are missing the whole point about things changing with every patch: Do you go around re-acquiring every badge after every patch to make sure it's still done the same way?

Some things have to be taken for granted in this kind of system. So before spewing from your high horse, realize that there are factors out of your control.

This is a collaboration. If one person says "I got it this way", that is a starting point for others to re-create what he did to see if it's correct. The Devs even do this for many things related by the players. And a lot of times, they say they can't even re-create the problem/phenomenon themselves. I guess the events didn't happen and the player is a flipping wacko?

And if another person says "I couldn't get X by doing Y", that is another mark for others to go by. No one is taking anything from here as gospel (hopefully. If they are, that's is the problem of that person and that person alone). But these comments are reference marks to go off of, either correct or not.

And with every patch, every damn one of them needs to be completely re-done just to make sure 100% for sure. Because, as you said, if someone isn't completely sure, there isn't any point in even mentioning it right?

You don't have to purposefully lie to spread bad info. No one (hopefully) purposefully tries to mislead anyone on here, and I didn't accuse you or anyone else of that. I stated that posting "I'm not sure" or "I think..." is counterproductive. Again, post what you KNOW is current. If you don't know, don't post, or ask if anyone has tried something recently, as things change (and I don't understand why we both make this point about change but look at it from different angles).

Again, my point is that we should post CURRENT info, not info from 3 months ago. Voodoo I see the point that was trying to be made. A lot of the problem I see is that people with higher post count like yourself and Taser and quite a few others DO get looked at as gospel simply because you have been around for so long. Many people post what they think or read somewhere else. While it is understood that people are just trying to be helpful if the information is not entirely correct then it only hinders people. Taser posted any Crey mission 30+ will spawn PPs when in fact it is any Crey mission 35+ that you need. Things like that will make people take missions too early and possible not be able to get any others. Sure Crey is a bad example because you can get like 4-5 Crey missions. Was the post a bit abrupt yes but I call it having a bad day and posting in haste.

Post count do mean you have been around and active on the forums. Meaning you have been reading and replying or making your own posts. If someone has been active in the forums more so since the begining of the game then anything they say knowledge wise will have more weight then someone who uses their first post to answer a question. Take a poll if you will but that is how it is. The majority of people will be more likely to believe someone with 5000+ posts then someone with 5 post.

Is the Family Boss badge bugged currently? i had a good 50% on it as I was working to unlock the Slot Machine and when I logged in today, the entire bar is empty. I ran around Port Oakes killing some bosses but the bar wouldn't move.

I'm assuming you mean the Marcone Boss badge to unlock Slot Machine... AFAIK it isn't bugged, I got it a couple days ago with no issues at all...

yeah, that's the one I meant. I lost all progress on the bar and no matter what I killed, i could not get the bar to move.

Eeeeeky... I had to have GM's award me several bugged badges. Grand Lanista, Spider Smasher (heroside), Rocketman...

I guess you could kill 40 more or so then /petition it :-/

do you guys know which Family Bosses count towards the badge and how many? i petitioned support about my progress bar and they said i have 49 kills towards the badge. so i killed another 70 capos today and then responded to them to see if they counted.

i guess i'm asking if it's Marcone capos or Mook capos or both?

I just wanted to get clarification on healing badges. Is it true that healing badges have a placeholder in Achievements labelled as Unknown, but the meter is broken and does not count the number of healing points you administer?

If true, are you still earning points towards it even though it is not registering?

Finally, does this apply to all levels of healing badges, or just the initial one?

The first healing badge just says ???
The second and third ones have a placeholder with no meter that says "earn this badge by healing your teammates"
The SG healing badges do have a meter.

AFAIK, the personal healing badges are just fine.
The SG badge meter has had some problems. The first problem is that the scale is so huge you can't see it move very often. (Sometimes days of healing.) That's more of a design issue. On the functional side, people also report it gets "stuck" or it is on the wrong scale.

I haven't completed any healing badges yet so I must be on my first one. But it reads "Earn this badge by healing your teammates", has no meter, and shows ???, which is how the second and third are described.

I guess I'm a little dazed and confused but is it for the first or the second? I'm certain I haven't received one yet.

Sorry to harp on it but if I knew one way or the other that its a bug, or if I'm doing something wrong I'd stop worrying about it. I've been coming across more problems lately that I'm pretty sure are bugs, but I can't find properly documented anywhere. It's just a little frustrating is all...
