That's just about the greatest thing I've ever seen in a video game.

actually I was just thinking of starting a thread like this.

Had to log off for work, and the last thing I read was. Goldbricker saying "Yes, I would like to change my long distance service."

What a way to go to work... laughing all the way.

Thanks WW.

Freakin' sweet. But, I've got to say the following dialog takes the cake:
Goldbricker 1: One man's unsecured wireless network is another man's payday.
Goldbricker 2: We should mark these open nodes with chalk or something.

I laughed my way through this thread yesterday, then saw something last night in game that made me laugh out loud...a Bombadier Luddite, flying with some buddies near me, said:

"Anyone who says he can see his house from here, loses all jetpack privileges!"

Giggled my way through my next mission.

You guys need to add Josh to your permanently favourite Dev list because Cap au Diable was his zone and he did the dialogue for the Gold Brickers and Luddites.

And he is, in fact, quite hilarious, even if he doesn't have a cool board name.

However, if anything in Mercy, Port Oakes, Siren's Call, Nerva Archipelago, or Bloody Bay made you smile - then I'll accept compliments.

Josh and I did a tag-team effort on St. Martial. (Actually, Sharkhead, too, since we took it over once it was already populated, but we did do the dialogue.)

He did Cap and Warburg solo.

Just to clarify.

WW

P.S. I'll definitely be passing on along your compliments. He'll get a kick out of that.

Here's one I'd really like to know the answers to, and I wonder if you might know it. Why were so many of the villians in the game made to be so supernatural?

Is there a storyline why heroes are fighting with so many villians with special powers?

Let me give you an example;

You want a villian to take on a superhero, great, you arm them with high tech weaponry like malta to take them down. Yet even though malta are human, they're unbelievably difficult to damage (especially with smashing/lethal damage). Low level villians aren't villians with a few special powers, but powers to rival our own. Is this city of heroes but the villians are more special?

I'm just asking is there a particular reason why from level 1 to level 50, the enemies are always stronger? Especially when there's no storyline to describe why they are.

If you could tell me who I talk to about this, I'd appriecate it. Otherwise, the only other thing I have to say is;

"Heroes!!!"
"P126b4" (Look for crey with this problem...)

So is Josh Responsible for Professor Echo's line: "I'm going to have to spend all day in a tissue regenerator now." Quickly followed by "One to Teleport" before he is defeated.

I believe I can answer this.

In a comic book, which is cooler to read about: A hero that smashes villains all the day long, without difficulty, or a hero that struggles against all odds against villains that pit their absolute best against one hero? Is it better to watch a hero stumble, and come back with one final strike to victory, or is it better to have the hero bat at the villains like flies?

Is it better to play as a struggling hero that has a high chance of failure, or a hero that beats the crap out of everything?

Bosses, lts, monsters, even archvillians I can understand as I said. My problem is with minions being so tough and resistant to everything and high health.

Because if minions were less risky to fight, they'd be worth less xp.

Is it just me or is Kisaragi replying to any redname post with a soapbox rant?

Yes, it's pretty annoying.

Why are villains always powerful? Because if Superman spent all day picking on random street thugs with baseball bats, no one would give him the time of day. Comic books are littered with villain groups that are paramilitary that can take and dish out damage, such as Hydra or AIM.

Nope, was asking a serious question. A few superpowered villians, sure, half, ok. But it's all. We have no normal human villians, weak to everything. We have mega powers right out the gate. So I'm asking someone who works with npcs, why.

Posted

You want someone who works with the initial creation of villain groups, not the placement and situations of them. I suggest you PM manticore. And to answer your previous question, the malta are able to take so much punishment because they have advanced body armor and special training. Level one thugs have neither.

Yes, I suggest you read the City of Heroes novel Web of Archanos. It explains the appearance (reappearance?) of superheroes and supervillains in modern times. Basically, because of Statesman and Lord Recluse, everyone with an inkling to do something, is given a supernatural inspiration and augmentation to do more. Think "Last Dragon"...you got the glow...the glow...!

My favorite lines are from the Arachnos Patrols at the Bloody Bay base when they see my hero.

"Shoot them! Shoot them before the turrets get them!"

And...

"YES! This beats walking!"

Well, then kudos to both Josh and WW...cause in addition to the Luddite dialogue, the Hellion girlfriends cracked me up, too. Actually, also, whoever is responsible for the mission intros deserves some love too. I look forward to those ALL the time, now, and most of them make me laugh:

"This office is nice. It won't be when you're done with it, but it's nice right now."

Heh.
