I am a "results" oriented person. I dislike having to dance around something to get nothing accomplished. That makes me speak bluntly, and directly. It is not a "nice" sort of conversation about the weather. But it is what it is, and accomplishes what it's meant to.
Even my free time is at a premium, I would rather spend more of it accomplishing, than trying to.

Everyone's free time is at a premium.
If you speak too bluntly, and people take it the wrong way, you will spend more of that time trying to get the results you want than "dancing around" in the first place would have cost you, because people will no longer feel inclined to be helpful, and may in fact derive great pleasure in hindering you. There are reasons that people converse the way they do.
Being inflexible in conversation style is neither a virtue nor an optimum. It's just inflexible. It's up to you, but I tend to prefer the ability to use the right tool for the right job, rather than trying to treat every problem as a nail because the only tool you have is a hammer.
That's a cool new feature; I'm diggin' it.
Just curious: Why don't some of those screenshots show the player names? Did the person uploading them strip that info out, or does it not record it every time? (Or is it a checkbox?)

here's to you and the sw staff...you rock! =)
To answer some questions:
There is currently no command which saves a jpeg without this information. As described above, it's just a couple score of bytes in the header. I'm pretty sure that the Windows Paint program will strip them out if you load and save. That said, I will add to a non-tagging screenshot command to the wishlist.
I'm sorry if PaintShopPro doesn't support the tags. I implemented the most widely-supported industry standard tags I could find. There are many, many other programs which support these tags. I listed the ones that I use personally.
I'm guessing that screenshots lacking player names were stripped by hand. I'd also guess that Flickr strips the tags when you download pics from them or you aren't getting the original size.
(I'm dying to see what some enterprising fans do with this! :-) )
WOW, i just check it out and thats cool, says who was in the scren shot and everything... thats great. Major Props
yeah well done Poz.
now to convince my friend to make a app that will auto create a RSS feed for distribution using the tags top populate the feed.
`Tis a good thing! A pity I always save as TGA graphics and those don't have neat-o-keen headers to play with. (I pretty much always crop the pictures before I save them away. If I started with a JPG that means it would be compressed twice. Not good.)
By the way, Irfanview not only lets you edit these tags, it lets you batch edit them. So, for instance, you could stick "CoH" as a keyword on all your jpegs in your CoH screenshot folder.
oh and one thing that would be like super awesome.
make a command like
/ss_com "Me Hanging out with Sally"
And when you make a screenshot it will append the last made /ss_com to the comments section.
just a thought.

Question: Are the COV preview screenshots on several websites using these tags? Or were they stripped? =O
Okay, I have one item to add to the wishlist (I'm sure I'll think of more when/if I get into this more): Can you add tags for the name and type of the current target? Then you could have an auto-sorting gallery for Monsters, Arch Villains, Elite Bosses, other heroes, etc. Granted you could manually add this as the title, but hey, more tags never hurt!
Adding the server name would be really great if at all possible... I've got some ideas to use this stuff. Thanks.

Soleau: Ice / Icy / Ice / Core: Ice / Fire / Pyre / Wind / Eclipse / Flare / Corona

It would be good to also have the yaw/pitch/roll of the camera in there. That way it would be easy to set up a demo with the camera in the exact same location and pointed in the same direction.

Yes, yes, please Server name would be a great addition.
Just to make sure folks are clear.. Paint Shop Pro can OPEN files just fine... I have not looked into weather or not it can view/edit the tag info.
There's no need for a special screenshot function without the tag info.

/screenshot_title "Dancing Like a Monkey"
will set the title tag to what was given (replacing the default timestamp title). Not quite what you asked for, but there it is. This doesn't change the file name, just the title tag.
I'll just note the other wishlist items I've seen here:
<ul type="square">[*]/screenshot_comment to take a ss and append a specific comment[*]Shard name as a tag[*]pitch/yaw/roll info in tags[*]/screenshot_notag to take a ss and put all this fancy stuff in it[/list]No promises on if or when. But I gottem in the list.
Sweet. Thanks, poz!
Be well, people of CoH.
thats poz, thats awesome.

Since I am lazy might I suggest
/bind p "beginchat /screenshot_title "
or
/macro ssTag "beginchat /screenshot_title "
then just hit the bind or macro and type the title you want in the tag info. Don't forget to put the title in quotes if its more than one word.
Replace the p with the key you would prefer to bind or the ssTag with the macro name you prefer.
Hey, what about my idea for a tag containing the current target?

Poz,
For us people who don't use Photoshop could you make this work for Paint Shop Pro also?
[/ QUOTE ]
I would highly doubt it D, since Cryptic didn't create Paint Shop Pro which, while I don't use, I assume from your request doesn't read these standardized headers. I'd recommend that you send a request for this feature to JASC for them to include in a future release.
Have a good one!

Cryptic doesn't make Photoshop eith but it doesn't hurt to ask.
