Origin of Statesman's and Lord Recluse's Powers

I dunno if anyone posted about this, but in the recent article from IGN...

[ QUOTE ]
But Cryptic was happy to offer up the explanation of The Snakes. Back in the day… way back in the day, Medusa and her two sisters had a thing going with men. Luring them in with pretty faces only to turn them to stone. But then this Perseus guy showed up and cut Medusa's head off, leaving the other two to fight over the new leadership role. Stheno, one of the sisters, got the upper hand when she discovered the Well of Furies, the same place that gave The Statesman and Recluse their powers. After years of wandering, Stheno ended up in the Rogue Isles and now lures men in using her beauty again, only this time biting them and turning them into The Snakes.

Does anyone know what the Well of Furies is? It might give us more information on Incarnates or at least Statesman's and Lord Recluse's origins.

I [censored] knew it!

Go to Atlas Park, and go to the MAGI division. They have an urn full of water from the Well of Furies that no one at MAGI wants to play with. And that's something, when Azuria won't goof off with a magic "no-no".

I know the well of furies is a ancient well that holds part of the powers of the gods. 3 ancient goddesses called the furies were all sisters, they stole some of the gods powers and put them in the well. Now according to what that article said recluse and statesman drank from this well and got the powers of gods. Well each sister also put a tiny bit of thier memories in there. When the article said Stheno wanders the rouge isles, i got a pretty good idea of either who the half-breed baracuda lady is, or the identity of recluses sister. In the new coh magizine i (and im assuming everyone else) got in the mail, recluse says to statesman oh and my sister sends her regards. This could be Stheno/baracuda. any other thoughts?

And that is how awesome the writers are at building a continuous world. It feels like the last few episodes of JLU this season, where things ranging from Superman: TAS to the first season of Justice League to last season all tied together into one, tight, coherent megaplot.

This could be an indicator of the trial/TF you might have to complete to gain access to Incarnates -- Find, and then drink from, the Well of the Furies. That, or, you know -- rob the MAGI vault and drink theirs. Everyone else does it...

I wouldn't settle down on any one explanation just yet. Remember, this same well, in Greek mythology, was created by Pegasus stamping around, or it was created by the Moraie. Zeb and Jack's explanation could be anything at all. Either way, it's interesting as hell.

Happy 5000 posts, your overlordness, sir!

Yep, just 5000 more to go.

Wait...

...does this mean you're only opposing the Forum Cartel because you're not in it? That while you're staring into the abyss, the abyss is staring back into you? That...

That you'll leave we mere mortals in our time of greatest need, when the Forum Cartel comes to our dimension to take over???

*goes off to form a government agency capable of destroying the forum cartel. maybe.*

Um...there... is no Forum Cartel?

I was thinking the same thing,
Stheno could be the sister that Recluse was reffering to in the comic.
a sister in divinity as it were.

Wait, so you think that one of Medusa's sister is also Recluse sister? That's a new level of crazy, expecialy since the Snakes appear to be out for Arachnos blood. No, that doesn't add up. Also, Baracuda is with Mako and is a hybrid Coralax, she ain't Recluse's sister either, but I'll bet his sister will play an important role in either his orgins of hating Stateman or in the on going story or both.

The plot, she doth twist yet again!

But seriously, this storyline is getting pretty sweet! Keep it up, CoH!

I reckon Statesman slept with his sister.

The Furies were born from the blood of Heaven along with the Giants. The Titans who evenetually had decendants like Zeus ect.. ect.. were most likely punished by the Furies who were very much about Justice and Revenge so it makes perfect sense that they eventually exacted justice and revenge on the Titans who's ancestors were responsible for killing their 'father'.

Maybe they stripped their power and put it into a well or something. Personally I liked it better when the origin of the incarnates were tied to the theory of the World Tree and the Spring of Life/Wisdom.

Not having gotten Issue 3 yet, I'm not exactly sure what way the "sister" thing was used. My guess, however, would be that Recluse isn't talking about his actual blood sister, but the sister to whomever he's an incarnate of.

Where did it say that. Recluse simple said, "My sister send her regards." That doesn't prove it one way or the other.

I can tell you one thing for sure, Stefan Richter (aka Lord Recluse) was referring to his sister Monica in that line from the comic.
