Where did you find a venue that could hold that many people?

Great, thanks. Now I've got the image of pagan vegetarian neo-nazi devil-worshiping goth breakdancing Dubya in my head. Just what I need.

NOT BLACKLEAF!! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO..........
Hehe.. thanks for the chuckle.

WOOOOT! I ran into a fellow that addapted Fueng Shui for COH (he did a damn good job too.) Now we will have the real thing. Considering Statesman's background I should've expected something like this. Eden has come up with some very solid game systems in the past that are easy to play and don't take a calculator (which is fine in mini's not so fine in RPGs IMHO) *cough* Champions *cough* I will be picking it up at my local game store.

Support your local game store!

City of Heroes already has a great campaign setting. It's well fleshed out and has a lot of possibilities for an extended campaign. The only thing that may hold it back is the rule set. I'm just not familiar with Unisystem. Frankly, the d6 system from West End Games always struck me as the best system for a superhero game.

oooo.. interesting.. does this mean we can bring back the 5th?

I wonder if D3 can make darkness stronger

I'm not familiar with the source rules. Anyone care to give me a brief lesson? I've been playing d20 for around 5 years now and it's all I know.

We had a hint about this a few months ago, but it's good to finally see some details.

<Pictures her room looking like Bart's from the Simpons except putting in Statesman instead of Crusty>

<Looks at the top of her computer monitor and sees the free Hero-clicks Statesman looking benevelantly down at her>

<Desides that this is an all-to-real possibility and desides to go seek help. After she buys some Statesman underoos>

And yet another prestige power. Maybe this time it will be a new sprint speed movement power with a weird special effect.

The collectible aspect, that's what I'm afraid of...it would be like if they sold Hami-O's in an online store that you paid for with real money. I'm all for a card game, just include every card in the set. Something like Flying Buffalo's old "Nuclear War" games.

Lol.. lets not talk about collecting stuff (looks around her room fill with anime collectables.... figurine, books, mangas, toys, and other nicnacks)

luckily I don't have any one's underoos.

edit: well.. I can guess Hami-O will be like Moxes in MTG.. ultra rare cards

that will go for a pretty penny on ebay.

However, CoH has a great deal of mechanical complexity in how the combat turns wout. We as end users don't see the complexity since the software handles it for us, but for a tabletop game, I just don't see how anything but a d20 system or some proprietary equivalent can do the job. CoH is far more complex than most people would give it credit for.

See...now this is the BAD side of nearly every freakin' game out there adopting a d20 system: nobody can even fathom anything else. D20 is great for certain genres, and it's great that once you know d20, you can almost insta-play any of dozens of different RPGs.

However, where is the creativity? Things like Champions, Marvel Superheroes (original), DC Heroes (original), etc... all had very creative, very different systems that were fun in their own right.

I love d20 for D&D and for Star Wars...it works well there. I found the system a bit forced on M&M, and thus welcome a different rule foundation for CoH.

hehe.. I remember the original Middle Earth PnP.. now that is a hard game to play... and very slow.

quick combat can be achive via PnP system. I bet they (the devs) will make it into simpler form of Attacking power vs defending power and of course you have your modifiers.. (+1 for this -2 for that) until you haev the result number.

It won't be hard really.. now coming up with a unique way and keep it fast would be interesting to see (I will look into this game when it hits the shelves)

I agree with this. D20, much like GURPS, FUZION, and Silhouette, just don't work well for some game settings/genres. Anyone ever play Deadlands or Fading Suns? They had awesome rulesets that were perfect for the setting. However, they were re-published as D20 games in order to reach a wider audience, and they now lack character. The original Deadlands rules were awesome... using poker chips and playing cards in addition to dice was brilliant!

I played the Marvel Superheroes and DC Heroes RPG's, they were really fun. If I recall the used (2) d10's on a precentage table, at least the DC one did for sure. We used to create our characters and make paper drawings of them and everything. I remember staying up all night playing this game, oh to be a teenager again

The Wolf

PS, I also played the AD&D games as well, lots of fun, the good old days.

I still have the DC heroes in the box.. almost mint condition...
