Striga TF is awsome!

Maybe you could take what you've learned and apply it to Boom and Faultline? I'd love to see new life in those places.

I totally agree. Maybe not a TF, but a story arc or two from a contact located in those zones would go a long way to making them more lively. Maybe an effect like DA could be used too, like thickening the smoke in Boomtown. I always love running around the fog in DA. It's very different from any other zone.

I've searched for this answer, and couldn't find it...I'm dying to do this TF, and I have completed all my Striga contacts (including Lars), but I don't recall where Hess actually is. Pretty sure he's near the Council Base, but could never find him again.

Hess is in the lower right of the map. He's up on the corner of a concrete wall almost by the water. If you search a few minutes, you'll notice a NPC just kind of hanging out there.
I agree that Striga was very well done. A couple of things to change for the future:
In the TF, is the first mission supposed to be repeated in the same location with the same goals 3 times? I assumed this was a bug but others thought it was intended. It made for tedium.
Has anyone had any problems with crashes in the final battle? We went through the whole thing, were fighting the Archon AV and everything crashed. Since I was exemp, I was then out of the TF. Very annoying to have gone through everything to come out with nothing.
Mark the first contact on the map. I was L27 when Striga went live and had no pointers on how to start the TF.
Keep up the good work!
Scorus
Hmm I did it this weekend, and never had to repeat goals/maps as you mentioned. So it sounds like you had a bug going there. If you're talking about the Radar stations... It was in 3 different locations for me.
The whole of Striga Island is Amazing, and if that sets the standard for new zones, there's some very cool stuff coming down the line.
The Hess TF is far and away the best TF in the game currently. It's not to long, even if you clear out All the maps on all the missions, it's still only about 3 hours long. The maps are fun, and offer some very cool surpises.
Like others said, the TF as a whole makes sense from start to end. It feels very much like you're working towards a goal and that each link in the chain builds towards that goal.
The Hess TF is very much a "Must see" event in CoH.
I just did this TF last night. It certainly had nice eye candy, but the group moved from mission to mission at such a frenetic pace that I never got a chance to even look at the plot. It was pretty much a blast-fest, then move on. I went through the Moonfire TF with a much more relaxed group, and found that quite enjoyable, so I imagine it was just my group (many of whom had already finished the TF once and were just going through the motions).
I guess I'll be the one lone dissenter... I don't really care for Striga. I don't like the feel or the atmosphere.
Sure, the missions are a bit different but the last few I've had there are "Ugh, this is making me sick". I was actually getting nauseous from a couple, not due to content or story but just from the atmosphere and "blah" of it.
BTW, whose bright idea was it to put a Purple Elite boss in a Heroic difficulty mission (Hercules/Herakles)? Said elite boss was also +2 LEVELS on the character (level 25 boss, character was 23). Needless to say, I ended up with 2 bars of debt before he was defeated. Before anyone says "team up next time", none of my friends were on and I don't care for pickup teaming.
Virtue: multiple characters.
CoH/V: Woot! Maybe Fun is to be had once again.
Ack! RUN! Regen is glowing mean & green!
If it reduces you, it's a nerf.
If it buffs the mobs, it's challenge.
They are not the same.
It's very cool.
The "regular" task forces (Positron, Synapse, etc.) are starting to look dated. They have nothing unique except for an AV at the end of the last mission.
The devs are going to have to modernize the standard TFs lest they become "a boring 8 hour thing I have to do to get a badge."
Striga Isle is some of the best content in the game. I have been through all of it at least twice, and I still want to head back and just look around some more. My guildmates are glad that my two current characters have out-leveled it all, so that I will finally shut up about it. Little do they know that I have three more just waiting to get going...
Good stuff, make it all that good.

The worst thing about the Hess TF is that it pretty much embodies what a TF -should- be, instead of the 6 hour same old mission marathons the game has now.
[/ QUOTE ]
Too true. I hate to say this, because I'd like to get the badge for my new lvl 13 controller, but I just cannot build up the desire to do Positron again. The one time I did, our team did great, not a single death. After the 4-hour point, tho, it just be came tedious - same old maps, same old baddies. I got so sick of it I didn't even care about the story anymore. Took us another 2.5 hours (total 6.5) to finish it.
Other than Hess, I haven't done another TF since (except the Sky Raider respec). I've heard the most of the others are better, but I just can't get excited about them. Especially after Hess, I feel that I'm not going to get that much out of them.
Statesman, Thanks for putting together a fantastic zone. The contact stores..the task forces..Heck the sheer volume of content is awe-inspiring for a single zone. For anyone that has skipped over the Striga Islands make another heroe and get there ASAP.
Looking forward to doing this one!
I couldn't agree more. Strigia has been a fun experience in it's entirety so far and we're about to start that 2nd TF. Things I especially liked:
- The council base complete with turrets and secret entrance
- The mob vs mob fights. It was cool to see literally dozens of enemies battling each other
- the other little touches, like seeing sky raiders in hangers getting fixed, all the cool temp powers, etc.
thanks for strigia,
Geoff

I'd like to think Striga as a whole set a new standard. We're going to try to use it as our goal in future zones and in City of Villains...

How about for retrofitting older Task Forces? Bastion is in severe need of fixing, as it is possibly the most boring TF in existence.
Still here, even after all this time!

Positron needs the most fixing: it is the longest, most painful, hardest to finish, least satisfying TF out there. I've complained about it elsewhere about it needing at LEAST five things changed about it.
Bastion also needs a fix, and indeed is probably not getting played much anymore ever since the Hess TF covers the same level range. Bastion, however, is mostly cosmetic: they need to mix up the maps and locales just a bit, instead of 9 tunnel maps one right after the other. Like maybe throw in an open air city map to round up rampaging Council robots. Just not 9 SAME TUNNELS IN A ROW.

I have enjoyed all the missions and the Hess/Burkholder's Bane task force.
I do wish that the Moonfire taskforce had:
A) A badge.
B) An AV that was not able to unlimitedly heal herself every 3-4 min.

Yep, Striga is easily one of the best zones in the entire game. I didnt even use travel powers get to my missions in that zone. I would prefer to run through and enjoy all the craziness thats in the zone. battling my way forward.
Unfortunetely, Striga came too late for my main, but all my alts enjoyed it!
I wholeheartedly agree. Striga has set a new standard for CoH in excellence (which was already very high).
However, with that compliment comes one big complaint, can we have souvenirs for the Task Forces please? I can handle no badges, but since there is the text in my clue box anyway, I would really like a souvenir to re-read it (and I do re-read them).
~Landar
Without having read all of the thread (yeah, yeah, I know), I just wanted to add my voice to the chorus of praise.
The Moonfire tf was a bit disappointing (No badge? But we love badges) and my group followed it up with the Bastion tf, so there was standard Council map overkill.
The Hess task force is superb because it makes sense (as another poster has said) in terms of the progression of missions. The variation from standard maps was great (especially since it's the third council tf in a row in roughly the same level range). But most importantly it was short and geographically limited. There wasn't a lot of time lost in transit from one mission to the other.
So people that may not have time for most other task forces can have time for this one. Both times I've done it, it took right about two hours.
Great job.

I wholeheartedly agree, though I would have phrased this "the only bad thing about the Hess TF is that is that it makes the other TFs in the game look tedious and devoid of dramatic urgency by comparison."
What level range is this TF?
Please don't use moonfire as the standard since it was 0 souv and 0 badges :<.... poor standard

I agree the other TF's gott to be made a little short and more to the point. Its not that fun when you have a headace and blurry vision when you finish your TF's
The Legendary Cosmological Prince Reigar 53rd Illusion Control/Storm Summoning/Primal Forces Mastery/Incarnate
It's a dark and story night. That means something bad is happening out there
I am not too impressed with the missions associated with Striga Isle. The ship missions seem very cookie cutter in design and very redundant. Also I don't like how the striga missions don't go beyond Striga. The Hollows has the same problem. Someone could get caught up in doing those missions and miss out on other content. Another thing that I don't like is the Striga contacts only give arc missions. It's nice to also have hunt missions to choose as well.

The Hess TF is 25 to 30, with mobs up to 32 (when playing at Tenacious). I think that the Moonfire range is something like 23 to 28 (please correct me if I'm wrong).
And btw, for the person who complained about there not being a badge -- you weren't doing the Hess TF, you were doing the Moonfire one. The Hess TF DOES have a badge -- I think its called Burkholder's(sp?) Bane or something like that.

Anyone have a location or screenshot showing where he is? Oh, and I think this is for lvls 25-31, is that correct?
Thanks.
