I have a dumb question about the "Munitions Mastery" pool. Lets say you have a blaster that's not Assault Riffle (Ice, Energy, or fire) and you pick the MM pool, how does it work? Seems like you would need the Gun to pull it off. Do you get the riffle if you choose this if your lets say energy based?

According to my friends, you just pull out the default Assault Rifle gun to use Sleep Grendade, Freeze Gun and Rocket, regarded of your primary.

This is awesome. Thanks so much for the post. You've got me dying to get to level 40 now, though.

I'm already there. ^_^ And let me tell you, Focused Accuracy and Conserve Power are doing wonders for me.

Anyone updating the hero planner or is anyone working on a new program that includes the ancilliary power pools and epic ATs?

Verexion (that's probably not spelled right) is making a new hero planner. The old one is no longer being maintained. Look it up in the Archetypes and Powers forum.

It's not? Where'd you hear that? If so, it's a shame, it was a great program.

Verxion's is coming along quite well though, so it's not too big of a deal

I sent lilpip an email about hero planner but never got a reply. She orginally used the powers list I made from beta to start it but then updated it when things changed. It is too bad. It is a slick little program I still use today and it is frustrating that the updates aren't included for complete builds.

I've respeced in Focused Accuracy and Conserve Power, and I do think they're worth it- Focused accuracy allowed me to slot all my attacks with damage and hit *more* often, still, and conserve power power allows me to attack constantlly without worrying about endurance- ever. Some fair warning, though, to work that effectivelly, both powers need to be 6-slotted, so you may end up a bit anemic, slot-wise, elsewhere (Weave will regretablly end up being only two-slotted thanks to these powers, but I consider their effectiveness worth it.)

Still looks to me like Electric and Energy Blasters got left out of the Epic Power Pools Sets.

Not really, the ancilliary powers are taken mostly from other ATs and there are no energy or electricity non-blasting powers. I suppose with energy you could justify force mastery as a manipulation of energy. To be honest anything that leads blasters, defenders, and controllers to be less "squishy" is a good thing. Those 3 ATs can die faster than a heal can cycle.

1 - I am looking for that too.

2- all ATs pick same pools (blasters dont they pick diffrent ones) like psionic for defs and conts body for scrapers. I think they are unbalanced.

3- Great guide nice work. Tnx a lot.

Very helpful Opus! I mean AnotherDeadHero! I refer to this now and again when making new characters I plan to get to 50. Like my brand new Fire/Fire Tanker, who wants Pyre Mastery.

Great post! I'm definitely coming back to this when i approach 40!

Has anyone tried the Scrapper Power pool Weapon Mastery? I think i might've read it was gimped somewhere but I'd like a solid reply.

So... questions... can you pick powers from more than one Epic power pool? I just hit 41 and got Indomitable Will in Psionics (so sick of mushrooms zzzzz-ing me). So can I now pick something from Ice Mastery too? Or am I now stuck with Psionics? I heard you could also pick from a 5th regular pool (I've got stuff from 4 of them already), but I didn't see a way to do that.

Posted

No you only get to pick one pool. Psionics is what I went with too. Thinking telekinesis will be uber in pvp since it doesn't miss.

My question is,

What is the use of some of these powers? I play a FF/EB Defender, and the FF Mastery pool offers... Personal Force Field?!? I got that as a level 1 power, what do I need it again for? If the idea is that you can choose some additional powers from a different primary or secondary power choice then thats cool, but won't work for many characters. IE if you are playing a Uber Strong Tanker, someone just strong and tough, then none of the Ancillary powers will work for you, they have fire, ice, energy, and earth effects.

The force mastery APP that offers Personal Force Field is for blasters. Defenders get;

Dark Mastery
Power Mastery
Psychic Mastery
Electric Mastery

None of which have any duplicate powers of Defender Primary or Secondary powers as far as I can tell.

Thanks for the info, very useful!

I'll by no means claim to have done comprehensive testing, but here're a some numbers for a few of the Controller Epics:

Mind Over Body
base 30% smash and lethal resistance
base 20% psionics resistance

Temp Invulnerability
base 32.5% lethal and smashing resistance

Conserve Power
90 second duration
10 minute recharge (perma-haste alone takes it down to 6 min)
decreases casting cost to 1/3 (so if your power costs 39 endurance to activate, with conserve power on, it now costs only 13)

No numbers to back it up, but Power Boost rocks!

So wait, let me get this straight. Upon level 40 or 42 I get access to a new set of powers none of which really go with an electrical/electrical hero typeset? I can suddenly start to burn things or decide my electrical powers aren't enough and grab an assault rifle? How deeply disappointing in terms of character concept. However I can see the virtue of some of the powers if you dont want to stick with one idea and the ease of use from a developers standpoint, i.e. existing powers are easier to apply than new ones. Ah well you can't have everything. (Like the color of your power effects hint hint!)
