Excellent Statesman. Excellent.

Thank you

Mr. Jaded here. This was the best, most principled, most considerate, most intelligent post ever made by a CEO of a retail MMORPG I have ever seen.

Enjoy your weekend. I told my friend (a non-maxed blaster who was frustrated) that you would come through; and you did with flying colours.

You guys/gals have REALY have raised the bar.

You know what?

I quit.

I am just so absolutely sick of this garbage that I have to deal with in this game! What the hell is wrong with you people!?

I mean, I complain about something....other people complain about something and what do you do? You.....listen!? What?! You actually consider what the people here have to say?! What kind of an establishment are you running here!?

I'm sick of this service, developers. I'm just sick of it. I'm going back to Star Wars Galaxies. At least there, I know that I can be ignored and marginalized in peace.

It wouldn't be the forums without you, zzM. Glad to have you stick with us.

Just found and read...and thank you SO much, Statesman and the devs.

Thank you for not only hearing but LISTENING.

Wow. They listened to us.

One note, as others have mentioned, story arcs don't always appear once a contact has leveled up. I made a scrapper at i2 release and just got her to 50 before i3. I completed every available story arc. Yes, I have all the souveniers that were available up to i2. And I got a few arcs as the VERY FIRST mission from a contact. The vast majority I got within 2-3 missions, before I even had a phone number. And it's hard to remember the earlier contacts, but I'm fairly sure the only contact that didn't give me my story arcs until the bar was full was Crimson. You can ask my sg how many days I spent swearing at Crimson for not giving me the malta arc, but sending me on a mundane malta mission.

Many of us really enjoy the story arcs. Flashback will help greatly with that in the long run. It could also help if the suggested idea of completing the same mission at the same time was done. Many times when I have been in a group with same-level heroes we have had the exact same missions to complete. It does get a little boring repeating things, and interrupts the story a bit. Might be tough to implement since most of them spawn different mission doors.

Anyway, proposed changes sound great, especially for my squishies. I love my scrapper, but now maybe I can get to the high level game in a reasonable amount of time with some of my alts besides my tanker.

oh, come on... his avatar is Tobey MacGuire from the Spider Man 2 movie, where he was holding the L-Train from falling off the tracks and his face got so discombobulated you might mistake it for part of the Blob's backside.

Oh, and back on topic: ----> Keep up the good work, States. The game's a gem to me, and it looks it might be that way for quite some time....

EDIT: -------> man, you must have hit the "ok, submit" button the same time I did. Man, if it weren't for lag....

Sorry guys - been boycoting M*rvel material - never saw it

Thank you. Just... Thank you.

All of the characters that I love playing are support characters. And sometimes my friends that I regularly team up with aren't on; or I might just want to go solo for a bit.

With these changes I can go back to a few of my characters that could not get past missions with the current boss changes.

I'll be able to enjoy playing a squishie again; and not have to live in fear of the one hit death.

Two hits I can live with; one is too much.

So, like, if I don't want my named bosses to be LTs, will I have to set the difficulty to Tenacious after the patch, or whatever the devs are planning?

If I do that, will the villains be +1 and +2 in my missions, or still +0 and +1? Hopefully the latter. My Eng/Dev can still handle most singular bosses on his own, most of the time, or two at seperate points in the mission (if I play my inspirations right and they're the right kind of bosses,) or even three if circumstances are lucky.

Two bosses simultaneously 25+ would probably wreck him, though.

Will named LTs-that-were-once-bosses still give you badge credit if they would give you any credit at all (ex: Fake Nems) when defeated in their LT form?

61866 - A Series of Unfortunate Kidnappings - More than a coincidence?
2260 - The Burning of Hearts - A green-eyed monster holds the match.
379248 - The Spider Without Fangs - NEW - Some lessons learned (more or less.)

Thanks Statesman.. I look forward to levelling up my Kheldian once I reach 50.

The best part is not that these changes were rolled back, but that I felt someone listened. Thank you.

Holy...

Statesman, I just want to tell you something and I sincerely mean it. You frickin' rock, man. This just goes incredible lengths to not only show us a clearer vision of what CoH is supposed to be, but just how much Development cares about the player, individual or grouped. I am thoroughly impressed. Please, keep up the outstanding work. I completely trust my gaming experience to you and the team, for I know that you'll make it as fun and fair as it can possibly be.

Yeah this is definately a fantastic idea. If the bosses become Lt's I guess that means less xp, which is great for me because somehow I've run into having too much content in this game. I've done all the story arcs with my mind/emp and TFs, totally skipped the Hollows and haven't done anyone else's missions and I'm still having problems fitting everything in. Making bosses Lt's will be great, especially for the 'weaker' ATs. And of course there's always that difficulty slider which will keep everyone happy. Oh and btw, thanks for changing 'Hard Boiled' to 'Hero', I kept getting terrible visions of pickled eggs for some reason. Keep up the great work guys and I'll keep coming back even if it does cost $22.50 Canadian per month.

Good job Statesman, problems have been identified and dealt with.

People have a choice how hard they want there missons and the ability to just log on do a couple of missions and log out is big selling point for the game.

Just like to echo what other people have said about being grateful for having Devs that listen and quickly respond to issues with game.

Thank you, to all the developers who were part of the reconsideration process, to come up with this new and fine solution, and to Statesman for staying with the issue and taking the time to write both an elaborate explanation for the increase in the difficulty of bosses, and for taking it back to the original level. Thank you for taking the concerns of the community seriously.

A lot of players will have come up with one solution or another to beat even the new bosses solo, but at least for the fire/fire blaster I play, this was a lengthy and quite surreal procedure of snipe and retreat; neither heroic nor particularly fun. It became easier with the archmage accolate, but this should not be a prerequisite for being able to finish a mission in a sensible way. In addition to supporting the lone wolfs or those logging in for only half an hour at a time, the new solution will also make it easier for those who play in a different timezone, and have a more difficult time forming up a team. Thank you!

I love you guys. No dev team I have ever seen even comes close to what you guys do...

Not Cavedog (RIP), not Blizzard, not Relic, not Westwood (RIP), not Shiny (RIP), not bioware, not Atari, not EA, nobody nobody!

I am utterly amazed at the effort and thought you guys put into your game. Amazed.

*bow*

Thank you.

Statesman, I'm not usually given to dramatic outbursts on the forums (lord knows we usually have enough of those....just kidding all! ) but OH HELL YES!!!! This is a fantastic solution. There appears to be enough here to satisfy the mostly solo player (such as myself) without lessening the Team game. Brilliant and well thought out.

To the Developer Team as a whole (and as I've never said it here before) keep up the good work. I can imagine trying to keep this game balanced and stable while pleasing the majority of the playerbase is sometimes akin to juggling chainsaws. If it hadn't been proven before (and in my opinion it has been many times) it shows you DO listen. Bravo.

Well, whaddaya know! You CAN please everyone!

In all seriousness, this is an excellent solution to the problem Statesman. Great work! Looking forward to the changes.

(Hard-Boiled, though we’re changing that to Hero).

I haven't yet checked to see if others have said this, but please keep Hard Boiled as the name of one of the reputation/difficulty levels.

Maybe replace Tenacious or Rugged? They sound kinda bleh to me.
