  1. good fix for the problems ED created with endurance. Now fix every other problem ED has created, and you will have undone the mess.
  2. [ QUOTE ]
Or, in case you need another example:

Your being asked to conduct yourself like Martin Luther King and Rosa Parks, not like Timothy McVeigh or Osama Bin Laden.

    [/ QUOTE ]
I would never ask the devs to calmly accept being bombed. you've twisted my reasonable point into something preposterous. And no one should have to ever read anything in all caps. (see? I'm reasonable.)
  3. [ QUOTE ]
There's a flaw in your reasoning. 3 year olds don't post on the forums. Adults, however, do. And it's not an unfair request for people to *act* like adults instead of throwing temper tantrums like 3 year olds.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Some people are more docile than others. On the other hand, some people grow up and become revolutionaries, protestors, and radicals. Those people were taught (rightly) to question authority. And those people will speak loudly and tersely when it's justified. And the docile ones will think the loud ones are being immature.

And the authority under question can respond to protest in a number of ways. How Cryptic responds to the community, even when the community is rioting, is up to them. But don't cause the riot and then act all offended that you got one.
  4. One thing I've learned with my three year old is to not get upset when he flies off the handle, especially when I do something that I know is going to cause frustration, misunderstanding and a feeling of injustice.

I had to develop some thicker skin. If he gets into some junk food he's not supposed to have, I take it away - guess what? He's going to feel robbed, no matter how justified I am in taking it away.

Same thing with adults. You take things from them, strip something away that they care about, but you fail to justify your decision, you're going to generate a response of anger and frustration.

I hope this doesn't offend your sensibilities, poor devs, but DUH. You make people fall in love with their characters - that attachment is a great acheivement of your's. You screw with those characters, and you're going to get a response. It might even be loud abd obnoxious like my three year old's.

So long as you "balance" a set and give 6 contradictory justifications for it, people are going to call you on it. If you ever had a good enough reason to "balance" regen, you never communicated it or provided us with a good reason we could hang our hats on.

So so sorry to have made you all cry or whatever, but you got the response you could expect when you took those actions.

Your choices: make *reasonable* decisions or get thicker skin.

    Blaster role

Statesman has definitely succeeded in spreading scrapper hate with this thread. Good job, statesman! Way to get a scapegoat for the problems your team has yet to fix.

I want to say this to the entire blaster community: scrappers have nothing negative to say about blasters. Scrappers are not asking to be more powerful.

What we are asking for is to be left alone. What we fear is that our fun is going to be taken away, and our enjoyment of the game will be reduced to "blaster level" enjoyment.

If you read through the regen thread, if you did so honestly, you'd see plenty of posts screaming for the devs to go fix the sets that weren't as fun (ie blasters) and to not mess up part of the game that is fun (regen.)

Blasters have been screwed for a long time. The fixes are out there - suggested over and over again. Blasters should be having fun playing the game, but they are not, because the dreaded dev attention is in the wrong place.

Reduce the sick aggro blasters get as a result of simply using their powers. Give blasters some sheilds that let them survive *some* aggro. (insert solution #'s 3- infinity here)

Blasters need and want dev help. Scrappers want the devs to leave them alone. There is no conflict between the communities. There is only a problem with the devs' priorities.

    Blaster role

    [ QUOTE ]
what does a Blaster do that a Scrapper can't already do? Or, even worse, is a Scrapper inherently "stronger" than a Blaster. We want each Archetype to have a well defined role, and part of our Scrapper testing is aimed directly at this.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Ah jeez, Statesman... Scrappers step on Tankers' toes. Scrappers step on Blasters' toes. Why don't you just set Scrappers aside as an enemy group and let all the "good" customers beat on us? Now go get the controllers in a frenzy at us by reminding them that we have access to petrifying gaze in one of our APP's so they're no longer necessary because scrappers can hold.

Sorry we've pissed you off so much by enjoying one of your five AT's.

    Blaster Damage

    [ QUOTE ]
At the moment, Scrappers, and to a lesser degree, Tankers, are being analyzed. Once we establish a baseline, then we'll be in a better position to look at Blasters.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Please, Statesman, BY ALL MEANS, feel free to look at Blasters now. I think I can speak on behalf of the ENTIRE Scrapper community when I say we're *pleased* to let our Blaster bretheren take our place in line.

They want your attention now, and we wouldn't want to get in the way.

    Go. SHOO!

    XP and I5

Sheesh. I'm so gun shy from states that when I saw this post topic, I figured they were going to slow xp gain, meaning that instead of six months to your first 50, they were going to make it 10-12 months.

And then we get a welcome change.

For those of you who have not yet caught on to why this change: it rewards everyone who actually plays the first ten levels instead of PL'ing through them. It's a benefit thrown to everyone who play's 1-10 with no benefit at all to people who don't. Which means it doesn't affect PLers at all, but at least there's slightly less motivation to do so.

As for the mission debt being halved: it's a slight encouragement to run missions instead of street sweeping.

Finally some changes I understand. Finally some changes that aren't designed to hurt people.
  9. My issue is this: if someone is willing to spend two pools and four powers to get Super Speed AND Fly, why not let them stack? Especially given the endurance cost of running both at once (adding the need for endurance reducers) let people choose these powers and slots and let "SuperFly" max out at like 90mph.
  10. I spit my coffee out at "housescrapper."

But seriously, inside the blender, I really don't mind if someone hits my target. Sometimes, the more chaos, the better.
  11. Membranes are perfect for Hasten, Moment of Glory, & Focused Chi. No wonder I've never once seen one up for trade. I'll be using at least the first 12 I get, perhaps more.

Cytoskeletons are perfect for Focused Accuracy and Weave.

Edited because I accidentally wrote FA in the first paragraph when I meant FC. Added the second paragraph to clarify my mistake that's not even here anymore.
  12. States,
This is a significant improvement over the original proposal. Thank you for listening to concerns expressed here on the boards and making improvements.

But why does it feel like we're always in negotiations with you? You propose this horrible change, then everyone goes nutty on the boards because the change is patently (obvious on its face) flawed. We point out the 16 reasons why it will never work, and... didn't these things ever occur to you?

I strongly suspect you have surrounded yourself with yesmen. The problems is the original 200 foot idea were obvious, and I'm sure at least some of your staff thought so, too. So were they afraid to tell you how and why your idea sucked? (Good thing we're not!)

I know of at least two other times when this has happened: the preposterous mutually exclusive IH/integegration proposal for I3 that was thankfully caught on time, and the (please for the love of god don't do it) currently offered regen changes. Just horrible changes that everyone affected looks at and immediately says, "these are horrible ideas for reasons X, Y, & Z."

Now please turn your reasonable compromise / listening skills over to the legitimate concerns expressed in the extremely long regen thread. There's a lot of good proposals over there for alternate changes mixed in with the trolling and mud slinging.

    signed,
someone who's not afraid of being fired by Statesman for telling him when he's wrong.
  13. Last night I got a Cytoskeleton (Increase ToHit and Defense Buffs, and Endurance Reduction) and I could not find anyone to trade for it. I was *really* disappointed. I went to bed late last night after playing CoH until the wee hours, laid in bed and realized:

Cytoskeleton is perfect for Focused Accuracy! Slap my forehead stupid for not thinking of it before. (I think it's because FA is way down at the bottom of the scroll of my enhancements page.) But "increases tohit buff" and "reduces endurance cost" are pretty much exactly the two types of enhancements FA needs.

Now I want two more of them, and I won't ever need to add a fourth slot to FA (and might -after testing- be able to go with two cytoskeletons and use the third slot elsewhere.)
  14. [ QUOTE ]
Thanks for all of your suggestions in the Dev Corner. I've noted them all down for analysis.

There's no immediate deadline for changes Archetype wide, though individual power sets might need attention sooner. I just wanted to say that nothing at the moment is set in stone.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Translation: don't waste your time trying to get that fire controller to 32. ;-)

    Billing

    [ QUOTE ]
Don't know if this is still relavent or not, and I'm sure it's subject to change, but many moons ago States said that though you would have to purchase CoV as a separte game and would pay for it at the same rate if you only had Cov, if you had CoH and CoV you would only be billed one rate. That was the plan then, who knows what will happen once it goes live, but I'm REALLY hoping that's how they treat it, like a full priced expansion pack for those of us that own the original game.

    One $14.99/mo fee, please!

    [/ QUOTE ]
Agreed! I think the extra $50 for CoV and the ONGOING rip off of $15 a month (which I happily get my wife to pay) is enough money to take from your loyal fans.

I'd love to play CoV, but if it's $50 *PLUS* a higher monthly fee, then it probably won't fit into our family budget. It's difficult enough to convince my wife that CoH is worth the monthly cost when it's "just a video game" and i could always go back to UT, which is free.
  17. Agreed. Third tray and numbered teammates sound very helpful.

BTW: My left shift is bount to "target nearest enemy." So I never used those two-key commands.

My second tray is my toggles (visual glance to orchestrate what's on.) and my first tray is my number-key powers.
  18. [ QUOTE ]
To be fair, there is one situation where Fly is "safer" than SS - ambushes. When you fly from contact to mission, you often don't even notice that you have spawned an ambush...

    [/ QUOTE ]

So YOU'RE the one who keeps leaving ambushes everywhere to stomp on my lowbies!

j/k - I know I did this before I respecced out hover/flight for combat Jumping/SJ. I'd get to my contact who would say something about that "ambush" i just dealt with, and I'd think, "whoopsi daisy."

For Mellee'rs, combat jumpng is so useful that I can't imagine not going ahead with Super Jump. I get to missions first all the time. Plus the whole fast v. vertical argument is moot, because SJ has both. (please don't nerf SJ now, dammit.)

For my dark/dark defender who has flight, I honestly don't know what to take when I respec. She certainly has no use for combat jumping or :shiver: jump kick, but I don't think I can go back to being stuck on the ground.
  19. Oh i think I'm gonna barf.

I think if I were not charged ongoing fees to play a game for which I already have paid, I wouldn't feel the right to complain so much.

I think that I wouldn't complain so much if i didn't already love the game. I'd just quit.

I think the complainers have a lot of valid points.

I think kissing States' booty makes you look like a teacher's pet.

I think you are FINALLY getting flamed.

And i think your brown nose deserves it.
  20. Free? I'm in for well over $100 now. I think we have a different definition of "free."

Sure some other developers and publishers charge for every expansion pack, but that doesn't mean *this* game or it's expansions are "free."

If you'd like to see free content, look up Epic Games. Bonus packs are always free (and high quality) and - hold on to your hats - online play is FREE. No monthly fees.
