What are you on? Where did you draw that conclusion from? You've made your own assumptions about what i meant there buddy and you've gone off on a tangent. Yes you can express your feelings about his ideas i never contested that, but theres a way to do it. A code of conduct if you like, to maintain a pleasent atmosphere on the boards. Quoting every idea like that and criticising it is not polite and if you dont understand that than theres no point in explaining it to you.

1: Visible weapons choices/"new" AT´s. For example, the claws power can be tunred into dual swords with just a few name changes and graphics changes. (And being the AR blaster my main is, a new gun or five. )

2: Personal vehicles. Say at lvl 25-30 you can do a quest to get the right to call a vehicle/travle assist device. It will still use a power slot, but the drawback being that you can not fight from these vehicles, but have to exit it before you can respnd to attacks. Say Motorcykels that gives you excellent groundspeed, but not as much as superspeed. It would be real nice to those that want to play "ordinary" people without flying, porting, huge leaps or running around at Mach 5.

3) A fly type attack called comet strike (or something). Where the hero flies up into the air and flies down to hit the villian causing damage to him and anyone/anything standing around him. The attack power would leave the hero disorientated for a while. The time spent disorientated and the damage of the attack would depend on the distance from the hero and the target when he activates the power.

I would like an option to forfit missions that I cant stand anymore. There are times when I need missions cleard out so I can do missions I would rather take. But I can't. I am forced to go compleat the mission. Even if its massive and its filled with a mob type that I hate fighting, (DE for example) I hate thoughs tree boggers.

So in short. I am asking for an option to forfit a mission. It dosn't have to make the contact happy. It can auto fail the mission. But having an option would be a good thing.

Other then that, I can't think of anything that I need. This game rocks! Well, unless you wanna kill off all them DE boggers.

Gilfred, you are a unique individual, 1 star from all of my accounts. It is hard to imagine one person picking out 20 ideas and finding fault with all of them without some ulterior motive. I don't know what your beef with me is, if one at all, or if your just a troll looking for some much needed attention, but something is obviously going on here, though exactly what I am unsure. I believe there is enough distinction in their shared powers. Controllers secondary's are the same as most of the defenders primaries. Since you are obviously an expert with both the controller and defender sets, tell me exactly what that distinction is at this moment and how it is enough. What about blasters that use the combo of perma hasten+stamina+stealth+alpha strike? I have read posts that have said that is the only power combo that some are using during their missions. They sneak into alpha strike range using stealth, then fire their alpha strike. They then use the perma hasten and stamina to recover quicker to be ready to do the same combo again.

I am afraid that this suggestion would cause players to specialize so heavily on one or a few skills that players would take advantage of this and only use a few powers clicking on the same buttons all of the time. Also if there are any enemies that would require a hero to change his use of powers would mean that now he has to use powers that are much weaker, powers that he himself nerfed. Good idea?

Response 3) Part 1. I guess you don't understand the word expert. Expert implies by its very meaning the ability to do something better than the other guy. Right now, all snipers of their AT have exactly the same ability. Though enhancement choices they can tweak this but each and every one has the exact same parameters to work with.

Response 3) Part 2. I Don't see a need for a cost to this ability as it stands on its own. AS for this perma combo thing. Yes, it would appear that you have read a lot of things, but actually experienced very little. Even if one were to exist in this way, it is the slowest, most monotonous, boring form of leveling to be had. I have a 50 AR/Dev blaster. From time to time I do this but it gets old fast. That aside, players are allowed to develop whatever play style they choose. There is no "wrong" or "Bad" or "unethical" choice here. People pay to be here and as such are free to hunt as they choose, who are you to tell them otherwise?

As to the last paragraph of this response. Like your entire flawed argument, you take the absolute worst extreme, and use that as a basis of your argument. As with everything else in this game a balance needs to be struck, why you would assume this would be the exception is beyond me. Allowing players to be the best at one aspect of their current abilities gives players to make a hero that is truly a unique creation of theirs and takes players out of the cookie cutter design we currently have, why would you possibly be opposed to this?

Will combine this one. In your first response you claim that this is unfair, yet you didn't say how. In your second response you make a grand leap and say that I suggested that it was for task forces. Re-re-re read what I said. I said missions, like we get from contacts. Something that we can take on solo at our leaser. So, if you can stop making things up to justify your reasoning, I look forward to hearing other ways you think this is unfair for players to have more options and ways to earn getting them rather than having them handed to them for free and no effort.

I Obviously didn't explain this in a way that you were able to understand. The word alternate refers to something other than what we already have. Thus Alternate abilities would be abilities that we don't already have, abilities that heroes can work on to further their characters development.

Why anyone would be against additional content is again beyond me. Why do you think that additional space content is bad? You assume that only a power pool would allow travel into space, tell us why you think this would be the only solution. Us hillbillies have this new fangled thing we like to use when we step out into void of space, we like to call it a space suit.

Again word definition issues here. More means something in addition to what we have now. I would like to toss a car about, blast a hole in a wall, blow stuff up just for the sake of doing it. That aside if you have ethical issues as a hero, random property damage is a huge part of many major comic books. Ever read the Fantastic 4? Ever read Spider Man? I have more than 4000 comics in my private collection alone and random property damage due to battle with a villain is an often talked about issue in those magazines.

Part 1) Who cares if its an endurance hog. First your assuming on its cost then using that as a basis of your argument. Second, it's what we in free society like to call a choice. If you don't like it you don't have to use it.

Part 2) Again forming a flawed argument to try to prove a point. This suggestion in no way implies that all sets must have a toggle, this is a very cheap way to try to prove a point and is aside from the point at hand. I have hundreds if not thousands of examples where a hero is using a continuous blast of whatever his/her power is at a powerful foe in an attempt to bring it down. The number of heroes who can do this is a lot more than what your suggesting but again like the rest of your post is aside the point. If there was one or two examples of heroes doing this then that is enough to set presidents and make it fitting for this style of game. This again gives a hero more options and I can't begin to understand why you would be against more things to do in a game.

As with the rest of your responses, you seem to think you have some twisted form of telepathy that can tell what all of our intentions are. They're are numerous heroes and villains alike in the comics in the reality that I live in that are not the perfect human specimen. Many have deformities or things that make them different. Many are over weight. I think it would only be fitting to have those options available to us. Why you would be against this additional content is beyond me but look forward to your reasoning behind it.

I guess where I come from, and the comics that I read there is this little thing we call Free Will. Heroes are heroes because they "choose" to be heroes. They are not forced at gunpoint to go out and save the day. They choose to do so. A lot of the time they make the right choices, but sometimes they don't, why should this game be any different. If a hero chooses to act in a non heroic way, who are you to say they can't? I say let them, and let with that choice come with some consequences of that unheroic act. Maybe a cost of influence, maybe with enough acts, status being changed to that of fallen hero or villain taking into account the coming of CoV. Or haven't you ever heard of a hero gone bad? This is again additional content and why you would be against that is beyond me but look forward to hearing your reasoning.

Here's my list, FWIW:

1: more costume options and combos (this would include new logos and that they can be sized and placed where I want on my costume)

2: shape-changing power sets of some kind so I can mimic a werewolf, vampire, shape-shifter, whatevah.

3: The rest of the elemental powers! Light, Dark, Plasma, Chaos...whatevah! And, I'd like some bonus/penalties for opposing elemental attacks.

4: I want to customize my powers as I see fit. This would include a magickal devicer having magickal looking stuff as opposed to science gadgets, etc.

5: Skills the SSOCS, whatever ye call it. Bring it on.

6: New Archtypes of a non-epic nature. This may mean simply adding in more powersets (you know, like archery and such).

7: New Zones: anything from outerspace, underwater regions, other cities on Earth, the open countryside! Anything to get us out of PC for a bit.

8: Hogwarts School of witchcraft and wizardry!

I will try to put everything said in this shorter post. You are telling me that I can only comment on things that I personally experience. Also, if everyone commenting on a certain subject are saying the same thing, based on their personal experience I cannot learn anything. Because I cannot learn anything from any player at all, whether in game or out of the game. I cannot even learn by reading the information the game provides me within the game, I must experience myself. It makes me feel that you are saying that I must read all post and say you might be right or wrong.

Look when I read a post I try to use logic and reasoning based on the knowledge that I have. Where do most players get this knowledge is from each other. Are you saying that you have not learned anything from anyone? Also when I read a post I can see the emotions and feelings of the poster.

The idea of customization is good only when used in moderation. Customization to the extreme will be impossible to balance. Tell me if I am wrong, some of the suggestions here are for weapon customization. If too much weapon customization (like costume and hero name) could cause more lawsuits than you could imagine. Customization you suggest would only be possible if there were no structure in the game. Without structure no balance. While I do not have as many comics as you do, I do realize that not everything in the comics can be put into this game and make it work. I have decided to leave this thread alone as far as posting. I will wait and see what happens in the future issues. If anything bad happens then I will say I never thought that could happen because I am to stupid to think about that and had to experience it for myself.

I am disappointed that you choose not to back up your statements. I was looking forward to hearing this logic to which you profess using.

I wonder if you even read the post to be honest. Several times I spoke about "striking a balance." So this moderation you speak of is only showing you agree with me.

I do hope you change your mind and decide to stand your ground and explain your reasonings based on my counter points to your post. Would hate to think I went to all that trouble to match you point for point to have you back down now.

I'd love to see some little things that let us be heroes outside of combat. Rush into a burning building to save a kid, get a cat out of a tree, save a family from a capsized sailboat, that sort of thing. Make them a bit difficult to do (take burn damage as long as you're in the building looking for the kid, have the cat fight back, have a time limit to get everybody to shore from the boat, etc.), and give us an influence bonus for getting it done and an influence penalty for trying to do it and failing.

Heres my list. Since you allowed scrappers to be better tankers than tanks, why not let tankers be better at scrapping? Or delete tanks altogether, since youre nerfing them out of existance

The guy made a good effort to make a thoughtful post. You disregarded everything with impunity. Several of his suggestions are actually in the design pipeline as it is.

SSOCS addresses #9 to an extent. More will come after CoV's release.
Undersea locales seems to be next in the pipeline, but Statesman said last summer that space locales and missions are something he wants to implement.
I believe more body types are coming in Issue 4 or 5. The dev's have responded in the affirmative to player requests for non-bodybuilder body types.

My impression from the dev postings from the past few months is that they are working on that. From the CoV snippets, I believe the game will incorporate several new game mechanics with CoV's release beyond the flashier selling points that are being promoted. I've seen hints of a mission system overhaul in the works. We'll get a better idea when CoV goes into beta this Spring/Summer - AFTER the NDA is lifted, of course.

The rest of Nagical's points I disagree with or think they're not worth the effort to work on. However, I think this post of his is worthy of more consideration than it got from you.

Maybe you just had a bad day and Nagical wore down that last nerve. He's done it to me, but occasionally I find his posts interesting. This was one of them and you missed it.

Slotting meter/ instrumetntation panel


Can you give us some kind of instrumentation panel for slotting our powers, and keeping track of things, like damage resistance for tanks, scrappers, etc. Our bonuses as far to hit, damage, movement etc.

One really big weakness of the game is actually knowing what's going on, as far as how much good you are doing when you add certain enhancements and buffs. Plus I know its also possible to overslot powers that have caps.


Right now, it seems like only the experts that read all the forums and guides can keep track of all this stuff. Anyway this is a really basic intuitive feature that I actually would have expected to have from the game from the very beginning. But with some of the various nerfs and other game modications I think is especially necessary.


And as for a second request. Well another free respec I'm sure would be appreciated. Especially since I'm sure there are going to me more nerfs, and game/enemy changes in our future.

Looking at my origional post I can't find anything that even resembles being grating in anyway. Spent 2 min brainstorming and posted my top 20 ideas. Can't imagine anything in there getting on anyones nerves, unless I am missing something

I think there was an interview with Statesman somewhere (people always lik to those) where he said he'd give a graphic representation of a power's influence. Kind of like chart for each power. No particular numbers, just so you can see that "this" power thusly slotted deals roughly double the magae of "that" power thusly slotted, but it takes around twice as long to recharge and costs nearly tripple the endurance. Just a rough idea of how good each power is. I think that was promised for the future, not a particular Issue.

We need as many politically incorrect villains as we can cram into CoH, because the game's too politically correct for my liking, bordering on the "Hug-hug" channel Jonny Bravo's mother made him watch one time. Don't know if someone mentioned this, but how about costume customizations that are unique to the AT and the Origin. I would have to also go with weapons and power customizations. I'd like to see more creatures from world mythologies, there are TONS of critters waiting to take a potshot at heroes. Also like to see a rift to hell open with an invasion from hell event, and missions in different lvls of hell.
I think there are plenty of AV options for the arc. Voice overs would be super cool for NPCs and villains
