Whoever planned this Halloween is awesome!

I write a lot, and a lot of my writing was influenced by Mike Mignola (Cosmic Odyssey, Hellboy), who draws a lot of his influence directly from the mythos of virtually every European country. And, when looking for things to write about, I came across this awesome site, Pantheon.Org.

During the couple minutes I was on Justice before being disconnected again, I reached one door, and a bunch of Devouring Earth with pumpkins on their heads hopped out, and I noticed that their gang name was "Fir Bolg." I wasn't sure, but I knew I'd heard the named Firbolg before. Sounded Celtic, and when I checked their description, sure enough, it mentioned them being the third race of gods to inhabit Ireland, after the Tuatha Dé Danann. So! If anyone's interested:

Personally, I think it's pretty genius. It shows a lot of depth on the part of the developers. Thumbs up, guys!

YEah, noticed the same thing myself....on a related note, the Coven looks to have an interesting backstory, too (judging from their desc's, anyway) I'm hoping they and the Fir Bolg get to be permanent members of CoH's Rouge's Gallery.

So far, I'm doubting it. All of the enemies have been rehashes of old enemies. The Zombies are just Banished Pantheon, the Fir Bolg are just Devouring Earth with pumpkin heads , and though I haven't seen them yet, I'm assuming the werewolves and vampires are just like normal 5th Column enemies. Haven't seen any ghosts yet, either. But the Coven witches seem pretty original. It'd be cool to see them stick around.

Yeah, some are rehashes, but the Coven and Ghosts are all new.

Actually the ghost is just a CoT villian. You see them in the 15-30 level range.

Still cool though.

EDIT: Damn, so they are just Circle rehashes? Poo.

Still, the Coven look cool!

And the witch is from the carnival group.

Still, adding pumpking heads and stuff is cool.

Many people won't get to see the mobs these things are based upon, so props to the devs for the idea.

Are the Coven really just Carnies? I thought so at first, but their models looked a little different. Still, even if they are, can't blame 'em for taking some short cuts for a simple Halloween event they didn't even need to do.

Personally, I'd love to have the Coven's witch hat for my female heroes.

Just the whole "Trick or Treat" idea is brilliant, right down to "I got a rock..."

Good job to all involved!

I haven't seen any Carnie minions with dark blast powers, so I don't think the Coven are just remodeled Carnies. Unless I missed some Carnie minions somewhere.

Thank our producer & Positron for the "trick or treat"...

Thank Manticore for the cool mythology....

And the Coven are NOT Carnival of Shadows guys...they're something else altogether. Hmmmmm.

Ohh.. So the Coven might stick around?

As for the hat.. I'd love it as well

Kudos to all those guys. And what does War Witch think about this Coven?

Third race to inhabit Ireland, throwing out the Fomorians, and being thrown out by the Tuatha Dé Danaan, as the website says, not following them. Eochaid Mac Eirc was the king of the Firbolg at the time of the invasion of the Tuatha Dé Danaan, and Sreng (I can understand the devs adding the 't' to make it easier to pronounce) was the greatest warrior of the Firbolg at the time.

Count me among the number who have been absolutely giddy with the Haloween event. When trick or treating went live, I was running from door to door like a manga schoolgirl.

Yes, I know I could have stayed at the same door, and yes the character back-stories are uber-cool.

One suggestion: all those who whine in the forums today should get a lump of coal (instead of a rock) for a temp power on xmas day.

The background stuff for the different Halloween groups is an extra layer in the cake. The whole thing would be great without it, but with it its evener better. I was trick-or-treating with a group of people (which, incidentally, gave me this surreal feeling because it was a lot like real trick or treating, with eevryone rushing up the door, a flurry of activity while tricks and treats were distributed, and then a moment of calm for people to brandish their prizes. Among all the 'Sweet, I got a Restoration!' I half-expected to hear someone cheering that they'd got a butterfinger crisp.) and it was honestly some of the best fun Ive had -- partly because of the whole atmosphere set up, which allowed us to joke around a lot more carefree than usual.

And, seeing as Statesman might check back on this thread, I want to say that so far this event is simply awesome. I know that there are people who are going to complain about something they don't like (and in fact, they already have!) and Im not going to pretend that the event should please absolutely everyone. There are so many divergent opinions and views among a population that its going to be impossible for everyone to be happy. But just the fact that the Devs went to the trouble of putting together a Halloween event for us, complete with gigantic Pumpkin monsters and trick-or-treating goodness is something to be grateful for. Thanks to all of you for this.

Wicked. Well, then I hope to see 'em later on. They were pretty hardass ladies.

Well, I had a great time. Cheers to all the guys I teamed up with trick or treating, and a big thumbsup to the devs. Can't wait to see what happens at Christmas.

Add my name to the list of people having a great time! Thanks to the developers for finding a way to create an event that is quintessentially "Halloween-ish": Trick or Treating!

Perfect.

I’d like to give a big thank you to the entire City of Heroes team for this event. You guys really know how to throw a party! Now if you’ll excuse me, I have some trick or treating to do.
