Love COH..but releasing on a Holy day?

of all the things to complain about?
Everyday is something to somebody ... no one is asking you to play today
Observe your holiday and join the rest of us tomorrow ... why is that such a big deal?

...and to some religion, somewhere in the world, any day is going to be a holy day of some sorts.
This is not to belittle your religion, but I'd be equally happy if it was released on Christmas, Easter, Samhain, Chanuukah(sp?), ANY day...
Some of us are at WORK, too... There's no way they could please everyone with the release date and time...no way at all...

No offense, but why would they be expected to check religious calendars when planning to roll out an update to an online computer game about superheroes?

It's Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year. It could be worse, Yom Kippur starts soon.
The City of Heroes Community is a special one and I will always look fondly on my times arguing, discussing and playing with you all. Thanks and thanks to the developers for a special experience.

And not every member of this game is Jewish. No offense intended to you, believe me, I respect every religion, but get real here. As was posted on another thread, if you expect them to not publish because it's a religious holiday for ONE religion, you need to go check a calender that lists holiday's for EVERY religion and take a good luck. Then realize that your complaint is rather foolish.
Yup, Rosh Hashanah, and to the original poster, it sounds like the 'event' will be lasting a few days, so enjoy your day in Temple, think about your sins, and then after sundown tonight log on and kick some evil-butt. 
Oh, and look at it this way, I'm in the same boat, but I had to WORK today so I could get Yom Kippur off.

A few of my co-workers are out today. I'm glad I'm a heathen (and a Catholic) so I can play later.

It's not my religious holiday, but it's a major Jewish holiday. One where MY work had to at least acknowledge a lot of people might be unavailable yesterday through Friday.
I'm not Jewish, but even the most insensitive or unreligious of you should at least acknowledge the OP as having a legitimate point. I find it hard to believe the Devs didn't know it was a holiday, and one broadly acknowledged (not some obscure holiday as some of you have implied).
Now whether or not that should impact their decision is a different story, but I DO find it hard to believe they would ever consider releasing Issue 3 on Christmas or Easter. Just because it's not a religious holiday that's not "marketed" heavily doesn't mean it's not important to consider.
That said, OP, it looks like this is running through the weekend, so perhaps they did take things into account when planning (for example, releasing yesterday would have been more "insensitive" to the players of the Jewish faith).
Looking at my calendar, I see that Rosh Hashanah began Wednesday, September 15th. Today happens to be the 16th.
I admit my ignorance of Jewish Holidays, but I assumed religious observances for Rosh Hashanah began the same night it began.
BTW, (/sarcasm on) Why didn't the devs call in to work for me today? I could have been home playing CoH if they had just arranged a day off for me. Gosh, they're SO inconsiderate. (/sarcasm off)
Enjoy your holy dude, remember why you're there (Some things are bigger and more important than MMORPGs, flamers be darned) and realize the game, event and all, will still be there tonight. I don't get off till 8:30pm, and if there's still portals with aliens there for me, they will be there for you too!
all I know there is chocolate involve cause my friend at Godiva was asked do they have any Rosh chocolate.

Holy Issue #2 Day!
Well my own personal religion of disliking all other religions *demands* that they *only* release new content on days when it'll piss people off. So they totally dissed my religion-anti-religion on issue 1 and when the game first went live... so there.
