Does anyone have a good build with IO set slots for an Emp/Rad Defender?

One of my first 50s from a couple of years ago is an Emp/Rad. . .I dusted him off yesterday and was surprised to see how little I had done with him. No IO sets, and I chose powers that I probably wouldn't choose knowing what I know today. :-)

I thought I'd look out here first to see if there were any good words of wisdom, but didn't see any guides or builds for Emp/Rads posted.

Thanks!

Phantom, welcome to CoH, Defenders, and the forums! You should know that there are lots of good guides out there, but most of them are for sets in general, not specific combinations. So your best bet is to go look at all the Empathy guides no matter what the secondary, and then go look at all the Assault Rifle guides. Put the advice from BOTH sets of guides together and it should do you pretty well. Also, check out the Blaster forum for more guides on Assault Rifle, as it was originally a Blaster power that got "proliferated" over to Defenders.

Thanks alot Westley, I can easily say without doubt Defender is my faveoutire archetype. Now that I have played a few hours and reached the capped level for this toon for the moment, I can use the time to plan my next picks. Having only one pick in my primary, Healing Aura, I need to start selecting some more to help my team because at the moment I do a pretty good job of keeping myself alive but my team are left to rely on other healers or their own initiative (quite rightly so, what am I, Joan of freakin' Arc?) Anyway again, thankyou for the warm welcome. I'm sure you'll be seeing alot of me!

Something else you should keep in mind that heals are usually the LEAST effective means of keeping yourself and teammates alive in this game. Where in other MMOs they are all about heals, in City of Heroes, it's all about this:

An ounce of PREVENTION is worth a pound of CURE.

And in this case, prevention includes things like controls, buffs, debuffs, etc, etc. Basically anything that stops you from taking the damage in the FIRST place is far preferred to anything that will heal the damage AFTER the fact. Please keep that in mind.

Also it sounds like you are on the 14 day trial. You should buy the game! It's really worth it, even if you're only going to play for a month or two, the cost of the game is basically $5 plus the cost of the first month, which comes "free" when you buy the game.

Oh I will be buying, once I can afford it. I been looking at the Empathy guide and it has really helped. Got my next 6 power picks sorted anyway!

Jordan's Dark Blast/Dark Maisma/Darkness Mastery Guide [i16]

This is a 10 page guide on playing my favorite character and my first 50. She's the star of my webcomic and one of the most fun I've every played. This guide has been painstakingly created to tell anyone who wishes to play a D3 (or use any of the listed three powersets) everything they could want to know.

Includes 4 different downloadable sample Mid's builds ranging from level 16 to 50.

HAHA! It's really sad that when I want to look for a guide or advice and I see that crap. Ruins my desire to win the next spelling bee

I agree because I originally tried Trick Arrow/ Archery and got too annoyed to the point I went back to red side briefly and then tried my hand at another empath defender with dual pistols.
Finally I got to lvl 20 but I have to increase damage ability and some kind of way I need good defense so I will be almost as strong as a stalker to solo easier. Who knows how long that will take. That is why Officer Ali Shabazz will be doing a whole heck of a lot of farming missions in the days to come.

Anyone have a good guide for an Empath/Defender/Dual Pistol? I need him to be able to run solo, do missions, and pvp.

Why would you ever roll an empath to run solo?

I present The Quick and Dirty Guide to Dual Pistols.

This guide was written mostly from my perspective playing the set as a Blaster and Corruptor, but since it only covers this particular set, it should be applicable to defenders as well. I've included the levels at which each power is available as both Primary and Secondary.

So I fired up my kin/elec after nearly 4 years of it being put on hold. I'm currently lvl 38 and need to respec to take advantage of the changes to the fitness pool. Does anyone have a kin/elec build I can look at? I'm sure there have been a lot of changes to Kin since I last played it.

So I haven't touched my Rad/Rad defender in about 2 years. He's been neglected so long he's still got the Fitness Power Pool as optional. I was wondering if there's a good current Rad/Rad defender guide so I can respec him, rebuild him, make him stronger, faster, smarter... You know, the works.

I'm in the same boat, actually. My old Rad/Rad is level 27 and in dire need of a respec.

I'll take a shot at a build and post it.

<Edit> Here's what I got. It caters a bit to my preferences, of course.
