Great bind guide. It really came in handy, but now i get everyone asking me how to bind...lol. One question though, I cant get my bind to work for mutliple toggle powers, ie. blazing aura and fire shield. the bind I am trying to use is this:
/bind p "powexec_auto fire shield$$powexec_name blazing aura&& team Phoenix IGNITE!" I can get it to work with one power and the message, but the other power never activates. any help would be greatly appreciated, even if its just a message that says it cant be done...lol. thanks

[/ QUOTE ]

I believe this will cause him to say "Pheonix IGNITE!" multiple times. If that is a problem, then another way to do it is to use two files. This is less reliable though because the files can get out of sequence and cause some odd results.

If you wanted to use two files though, try this:

blaze.txt
[ QUOTE ]
p "+ $$powexectoggleon blazing aura$$team Pheonix IGNITE!$$bindloadfile c:\bind\fire.txt"

[/ QUOTE ]

fire.txt
[ QUOTE ]
p "+ $$powexectoggleon fires shield$$bindloadfile c:\bind\blaze.txt"

[/ QUOTE ]

You can change the path to whatever works best for you. When you have the files set up, type:
[ QUOTE ]
/bindloadfile c:\bind\fire.txt

[/ QUOTE ]
Then you should be good to go.

Okay, it looks like I have a question now. I found the following while reading this thread:

[ QUOTE ]
/bind Shift+2 beginchat /send "Global Channel" [$name, lvl $level $Archetype]

[/ QUOTE ]

So, if I'm reading this right, the following should work if added to my keybind file:

[ QUOTE ]
LCTRL+ENTER beginchat /send "Liberty Badgers" ($name, Level $level $archetype)

[/ QUOTE ]

That will output a string of text to the global channel Liberty Badgers, correct? I was a little unclear on whether or not you need to include the quotes... I know something like this is used by numerous people on the channel, but I'd rather not increase the noise by posting it there.

And if does work... how would I modify this thing to include an AFK message?

Posted

Not correct. Using "LCTRL" with another key will not work. As soon as you press th <LCRTL> button, it will try to fire off the bind. "CRTL+ENTER" will work though.

Try:[ QUOTE ]
CTRL+ENTER afk Chatting$$beginchat /send "Liberty Badgers" ($name, Level $level $archetype)

[/ QUOTE ]

I have all my chord keys set to "NOP" and I have seen no different between CTRL and LCTRL when used as a chord key... I have numerous keybinds using LCRTL or RCRTL plus a shared key and haven't had any problems. Most of them are Emotes, team selection + power use, or henchmen controls. I never got any of the Tier 3 henchmen, so maybe that's why I never noticed a problem? I guess I'll double check my binds when I get home tonight.

Anyway, other than the key+chord, there's nothing wrong with that bind is there? It just looks really odd.

Would like to know if anyone could help me out with a bind. I read through the first 25 posts and didn't see anything mentioned and didn't think i could make it through the other 40 posts....so forgive me if this has been asked already.

I did find the bind i want to use in the descriptions:

/bind t "group $target, prepare to be teleported to my location.$$powexec_name Recall Friend"

If my TP targets name is Ace..from the line above the text will read " Ace, prepare to be teleported to my location.

I would like to place text in front and after the targets name.

ex, Bity Kitty claws and scratches and begins to teleport Ace to her location.

Would the correct bind be the following?

/bind t "Bity Kitty claws and scratches and begins to teleport group $target to her location.$$powexec_name Recall Friend"

Thanks for any help.

Very close

The oly thing you forgot was to specify "say"... i.e.

/bind t "say Bity Kitty claws and scratches and begins to teleport group $target to her location.$$powexec_name Recall Friend"

This will say the text in your active chat window.

You may want to change 'say' to 'team' - if you are use 'say' on a global or broadcast channel, your message will be pumped out to everyone. - I refuse to say why I know this happens!

Good to know... however, most teams will 'switch' to the team-only mode on their chat... say will work with whatever channel mode you're using.

Given that Recall Friend is a team-only power, your solution is also sensible.

The one I use is:

bind ctrl+T "team OK, $target, transport in progress, keep hands and feet inside the field until effects fade!$$local Incoming teleport of $target, please stand back!$$powexec_name Recall Friend"

"City of Heroes. April 27, 2004 - August 31, 2012. Obliterated not with a weapon of mass destruction, not by an all-powerful supervillain... but by a cold-hearted and cowardly corporate suck-up."

As said above, it would be better to use "team" instead of "say," and you want to delete the word "group" from your message. I think you intended "group" to be your channel command, but it has to be at the front of the statement, instead of just before the variable.

I was told that this bind isn't very well known and that I should share it. Credit goes to someone in the Virtue Legion of Freedom for sharing it with me.

This allows you to show your character, level, server, whatever at the start of any global chat you type in. Helpful to badge & monster channels to sort out servers and character names for invitations. Helpful for SG coalitions to see what level someone is running.

/bind KEY beginchat /send "insert name of global chat channel here" [$name - $level - server or archetype or whatever] (space)

The space is helpful if you won't remember to add it automatically; makes it a little easier to read. An example and what it looks like in-game:

/bind L beginchat /send "Triumph Watch" [$name - $level - Triumph] (space)

Triumph Watch: [Flamare - 38 - Triumph] Hi, gang! Any mosnters out?

Hope this helps!

I'm sure this is back there somewhere but I'll dredge it up.

You can also tell yourself something. For instance one of my char's uses some TP binds to remove all the GUI elements while teleporting long distances. The first part of each bind goes something like this:

"t $name, Teleport Mode Activated$$..."

It's nice especially when you're using modal binds (ie. that put you in a particular mode of operation) and when you're testing a bind to give yourself a que that things are (or aren't) working as expected.

What I think he is saying is that using LCTRL+(KEY) = RCTRL+(KEY) = CTRL+(KEY) - when using these keys (alt, shift, control) as a chord they revert to their base & do not differentiate between left & right.

That is, you cannot have a bind LCTRL+(KEY) & a different bind RCTRL+(KEY) because they both default to CTRL+(KEY).

This is the same whether you use LCTRL or LCONTROL.

You can use LCTRL & RCTRL as non-chord keys to make different binds.
