HO = Hamidon Enhancement, a special extra good enhancement that you get for beating Hamidon.

It isn't exactly an abbreviation, but since the other degrees of Enhancement are referred to as TO, DO and SO it has fallen into common usage.

Also sometimes Hami-O.

Anchor - An NPC villian that is targetted and is needed for some powers to activate upon and/or continue working. Ususally killed last so effect stays.

i think if its important enough for my rad defender to have a bind to explain what it is and NOT to kill it, its 'portant 'nuff fer yer gee-ide here.

[/ QUOTE ]

Okay.....so fill me in. I've been told this on occasion, but even though I've asked, it's never been explained to me how *I*, personally, can tell exactly which mob it is which is the anchor. So far, I haven't seen anything about any one mob that looks different from any other.....perhaps because the mobs as a group all get killed so fast, while I'm occupied trying to do my share of damage dealing.

What do I look for in order to identify the "anchor"? So I know which one I'm not supposed to be hitting?

I'll almost certainly be happy with I7....."SOON(tm)"

Too bad "Maturity" isn't an Enhanceable power.

The best thing to do is to ask your controller before battle since different sets give different effects (dark or rad). The Achors glow (rad) brighter than the others or have a dark pool (dark) around them.

Another good way is to target the Controller at the beginning of battle, you will see his target and when he throws his attack you will be able to see what effect is generated on the anchor.

Hope this helps.

Uber is German for Over.

Leeroy is a verb or noun depending on its usage. It means almos the same thing as Zerg, specifically to rush into a huge spawn while the rest of the team isn't ready, usually resulting in a team wipe. A person who leeroys is a leeroy. ( from WoW video starring idiot named Leeroy Jenkins)

What the heck is IBTL? I've seen it and variations like IBTL +1 and such.

Aha! I knew there was a thread like this already.

Like hell I'm reading through all the pages though So here's my question:

What does ADDS mean exactly?

Abbreviation for something? Shorthand? It appears to have to do with unintended aggro, correct?

I've already forgotten about most of you

IBTL is internet forum lingo and stand for In Before The Lock. It indicates that the pooster believes the current thread is about to draw the aggro of the moderators and be locked. IBTL +1 is a variation that is just making it clear that the poster is using the IBTL post to pad his post count.

Adds, or if said loudly ADDS are indeed unintended aggro. I believe it is shortened from Additional Mobs and indicates that mobs additional to the intended pull have aggroed.

Broken or Broken-ness: A term I first heard playing Magic:The Gathering, and that probably originated there. Refers to an ability, power, card, etc. that some creative gamer found a way to use to unbalance or 'break' the game that the devs didn't intend. This usually leads to a nerf or restriction on that ability by said devs. This can be used in a positive way ("Instant Healing pre-I5 was pure broken-ness!") or a negative way ("Did you see what he did to me in PvP? I'm telling you that power is totally broken").

e.g. and i.e.: My pet peaves. e.g. is Latin for 'exempli gratia' meaning 'for example'. i.e is Latin for 'id est' meaning 'that is to say' or 'in other words'.

WIWAW: "Wish I was a wookie." Ok, I made that up - I think I did anyway. Cyberspace is awfully big. Heh, think I'll start using it to see if it catches on.

"Meh" doesn't mean anything, but I would characterise it as a sort of text representation of a verbal shrug. Try saying it and shrugging at the same time you will get the feeling, kind of unimpressed acknowledgement.

It goes with "Heh" which is sort of a half laugh.

What does SHOE mean? I know it is related to Hamidon Origin enhancements, but unsure how.

Posted

It's the villain side version of the Hamidon Origin Enhancement. They were synthesized from real Hami-O's by... one of the Praetorians, I think, or maybe one of the main Villains in Arachnos' club. Anyway, it stands for Synthetic Hamidon Origin Enhancement (S.H.O.E.)

A few more I haven't really seen mentioned

IBTD- I beat the deletion. Stated when a hot topic most likely to incite a flame war or that just goes against forum rules such as calling out devs or players.

Flame war- A thread that devolves into players mostly arguing through their posts.

Threadjack- when a forum thread is brought off topic into sometimes a completely unrelated subject.

LK- the villain version of a sidekick, a higher level player pairs up with a lower level player so that the lower player fights as if they are one level lower than the higher player

EX/MF Exemplar/Malefactor- When a higher level player pairs with a lower level player so that the higher player can fight at the lower level.

Ghost- sending a stealthed player through the mission to only go for the objectives to complete the mission quickly.

Dumpster diving- a term going back to the old days without aggro caps and gathering almost complete maps into a dumpster, usually on the Boomtown map. Today it mostly refers to dropping a full aggro cap mob into a dumpster.

BF- Break free, an inspiration that releases a character from status effects such as sleeps, holds, and immobilizes.

Shivs- refers to the Summon Shivan temp power earned from Bloody bay.

RSF- Recluse Strike force, the last and most difficult Strike force for villains.

Luck of the Gambler - one of the Invention Sets for Defence powers.

Trivia: It is usually used in relation to the sixth member of the set - the one that provides a 7.5% Recharge Set Bonus along with some direct Defense enhancement for the power it is slotted in. This is one of the rarest recipes to show up on the Consignment markets (as it is so useful for virtually any build), and as such is one of the most expensive when it occasionally does turn up on the market. Builds that are trying to maximise their +Recharge set bonus will typically be looking to include at least one of these enhancements - which can make such builds extremely expensive (unless you get lucky and have one drop from a TF or SF).
