I ask this because my character and my screen just froze with the "Marserver" comment in the background. I was able to pull up the netgraph. It was showing a large solid green, which usually means a delay in info from the server to my computer. The odd thing was the "send" number was cycling down to zero.

I tried using the Menu to logoff, but there was no response. Then I tried to open my Task Manager to shutdown COH, but it would not load. All of my CPU power was being used. Finally, the "Send" amount reached zero, and the game closed.

The odd thing was I still couldn't do anything with my computer. Eventually, I found that the NCLauncher was using 100% of my CPU. Is that normal, and what can I do to stop that?

I was ultimately forced to cold-boot my system to stop the memory hog.

Very puzzling and disappointing. Not sure what to make of it.

Thanks in advance for all your kind replies.

If the NCLauncher is taking up most of your CPU, then you can set it to close once you launch the game.

Go to File->Settings, then, in the drop-down box, select the Exit Launcher setting. Now, whenever you click to play the game, the launcher will close.
  2. My desktop has an Nvidia graphics card, and I was getting that error whenever I tried to pull up the contacts windows.

I fixed it by rolling back my drivers. You can try that.

    Here's a link: https://help.ncsoft.com/app/answers/...ontacts-window

I'm not sure if that's what affecting you, but I suppose it wouldn't hurt to try.

(I mean you can always cast both if something is still alive!)

The toggle drop is also an issue, Inferno may be good enough. I dont use nukes on my blasters/defenders/corruptors unless they are Ice. Only Blizzard is THAT good.
After I cast Ion Judgement, all of the spawns have a little health left. I just toss a Ball Lightning their way and they all die (that is, if Judgement didn't finish them off).

I have Thunderous Blast, but I only use it when my health is low and I need to make a quick escape. EM Pulse is also good for that.

    bugs or myths

Ive gotten the insp lag and the powers seemingly not recharging. I'd love the bosses-suddenly-turning-into-minions bug though.
  5. I play an Electric Blaster. Usually, I've drained all of the Stunner's end before they can drain mine. I've never even noticed that the Freak's end drain.

This. The GMs are really nice about it. They'll work with you until the problem is resolved. Just contact them through the support website, and they'll get you access to the beta server.

Wow. That level had my head hurting, so I thought, "Surely, it's not meant to be like this." Guess I was wrong.

Thanks for the advice. I did try what you said, but I guess it wouldn't have done any good since they meant it to look like that.
  8. I was playing on The Chantry map for the Maria Jenkins mission where you find a clue about the Statesman and battle Black Swan. Once I got into the map, everything looked weird. The background was normal, but where the rocks should be, there was only a light gray silhouette.

At first, I thought it was meant to be this way. Like, maybe, a really foggy area, but after looking at screenshots online, I saw that it shouldn't look like that. Any idea what the problem could be? This is the only map I've ever had this problem on.
  9. Some don't, but some do.

I was playing against Rikti once, and my health got lot, so I decided to hop on the elevator and recover my health. Imagine my surprise when the Rikti followed me and finished me off anyone.

Silent Blade also followed me in one of the Hero Morality missions.
  10. I have a great idea for a movie poster that I'd love to create. I think this contest is a great idea.

That's too bad. It would be nice if we could bring that back as a sort of monthly thing instead of a more frequent release like you said it was. I'd be willing to put a lot of work into it. I love desktop publishing, given I actually have something to publish.
  12. I didnt know that. Is there anywhere to read those?
  13. So, I was reading up on random articles in the Paragon Wiki, and I stumbled across an article on the Paragon Times. I wasn't around when this feature was active/removed, but I looked through it and it looks pretty cool. Many other games have in-universe newsletters that players recieved, so of course it made sense there would be one for City of Heroes.

I liked the idea of a newsletter that talked about upcoming features and whatnot, and I was sad to read that it had been shut down.

I'm pretty sure the reason the newsletter was stopped was because of the lack of resources and stuff. So I was thinking, it would be cool if the Paragon Times were brought back as a sort of community run project.

Like, all of the sections were generated by players (and of course monitored for inappropriate content). Volunteers could submit fanfics, pictures, comics, "reports" based on revealed info, and stories of previous adventures.

It's pretty late where I am, and I'm typing this while fighting off some Nyquil, but I thought it would be pretty cool to bring it up. I don't know if it's allowed or even if the community would be interested, but just thought it should be thrown out there. I know I'd love to contribute to it, if it was ever restarted.

Anyways, tl;dr, I think it would be cool if the Paragon Times feature was brought back as a community project.
  14. I can share in your pain, OP. I have a family reunion this weekend with people I've never met or heard of in my entire life.

Not only that, but I can't take my laptop along with me because my charger died on me at the last minute, and Best Buy is taking their precious time sending me another one. (Last time I ever buy Black Tie Protection from them again. Walmart is better than them.)

But I digress. Maybe we'll see another one once Freedom launches.

EDIT: Maybe the beta will be so horrible that they have to postpone it again!

Which brings me to a very ugly thought about this going live.

If the store goes down, as it does many times in a year, players will lose access not just to any unfilled character slots, but a whole host of other "services":
Expansion access players paid for (Good Vs. Evil, Architect Edition, Going Rogue, Going Rogue: Complete Collection).
Archetypes players unlocked (if they haven't unlocked tier 5).
    Incarnate system.

And that is just scratching the surface.
That's why they do the beta test: to work out these kind of problems.
  16. It's red! Meaning people are actually playing! I'm gonna EXPLODE in jealousy!!! lol.
  17. How are people getting in? It says Public access is denied.

The Mobility RadeonHD 2600, which I have on hand, has a theoretical Megatexel / MegaPixel throughput of 4,000 M/T / 2,000 M/P; and it came with a bandwidth configuration of 12.8 GB/s.

While I can't say how a RadeonHD 4250 would perform, I can tell you how the more powerful 2600 performs:

Even in a low resolution, in this case 1024 * 768, I would be hard pressed to describe these frame-rates as playable.
I'd show you a video if you wanted proof, but I can't run a video at the same time as the game. I get about 30 fps on average with 1366x768 screen resolution. Very playable and enjoyable.
  19. ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4250 is able to run Ultra Mode. At least, that's what I'm using and I have most of the settings one notch from being maxed out.
  20. I think I'll try this out. I can't wait to see the new Galaxy City (even though I loved the old one).

    Thank you for the time...
Thanks then. I may still change servers at some point. Maybe when Freedom comes out, the server will be more populated.

SG's do not transfer, nor do any items in base storage or prestige (although your Vault and Market inventory will go with you). Prestige is owned by the SG, not the character who earns it and stays there when a character leaves. Once the last member of an SG leaves the group that SG, it's base and all items and prestige vanish.

Do you have other characters in your old SG? If so it'll still be there if you decide to transfer back... you'll need to have a buddy re-invite your toon to the SG though.
It was mostly a one-man SG. There were two other of my friends, but they don't play anymore. It's just that I spent such a good amount of time building it that I didn't want to leave it. I may end up just starting from scratch anyways. A more populated server may get me the Prestige I need more quickly.

If you *move* your character and bring the SG under 15 members, they will lose 20,000 prestige. (Same as if you delete it.) If you don't, or you're #16 or higher, it'll have no effect. They won't, however, lose any prestige you've earned for them in the meantime. (In other words, say you're member #15 of a 15 person SG. You play for a while, getting 50,000 prestige. The group has a total of 125,000 prestige unused. When you leave, they lose 20,000 (the bonus for members 1-15,) but NOT that 50,000 - so they'd be down to 105,000.)

You can make and be a member of up to 36 simultaneous supergroups per server per account if you want. They don't have anything to do with each other. (In other words, go ahead - make one per character if you like. There's no limitations.)
So, I will get the Praetorian bonus again? Me being a Praetoria was the biggest boost for my supergroup.
  24. I own a Supergroup on Liberty. I want to change to a more populated server because Liberty feels kind of empty. (No, I haven't made everyone upset with me.) The only time I've ever seen it in yellow is when we had the Praetorian Invasion live event.

Anyways, I wanted to know what all will happen to my supergroup. Will I be able to make another one and keep the prestige? Will it transfer with me? What will happen?

I know him for Blackadder and that Doctor Who feature for Comic Relief. He was also good in Johnny English (which I think was an American movie). But yeah, I'm one of those people who are in love with the UK even though I'm American. So, I'm most definitely not the norm.

And reading up probably wouldn't do those shows justice. You'd have to watch them too.
