How does server change affect your supergroup?

Prestige belongs to the supergroup, not to you.
If you go to another server and recreate that SG or join another, you start at 0 prestige (well, unless you're one of the first 15, where you get a bonus, or a praetorian who has a 100k "signing bonus.")
If you *move* your character and bring the SG under 15 members, they will lose 20,000 prestige. (Same as if you delete it.) If you don't, or you're #16 or higher, it'll have no effect. They won't, however, lose any prestige you've earned for them in the meantime. (In other words, say you're member #15 of a 15 person SG. You play for a while, getting 50,000 prestige. The group has a total of 125,000 prestige unused. When you leave, they lose 20,000 (the bonus for members 1-15,) but NOT that 50,000 - so they'd be down to 105,000.)
You can make and be a member of up to 36 simultaneous supergroups per server per account if you want. They don't have anything to do with each other. (In other words, go ahead - make one per character if you like. There's no limitations.)

SG's do not transfer, nor do any items in base storage or prestige (although your Vault and Market inventory will go with you). Prestige is owned by the SG, not the character who earns it and stays there when a character leaves. Once the last member of an SG leaves the group that SG, it's base and all items and prestige vanish.
Do you have other characters in your old SG? If so it'll still be there if you decide to transfer back... you'll need to have a buddy re-invite your toon to the SG though.

IIRC, there was a tweak to those who were Praes. Now it is the first SG/VG that Character joins gets the 100K bonus. After that, the Character is treated like any other Character that leaves and joins a SG/VG.

There may be a super group transfer system happening after freedom too.
I'd also make sure that you leave at least once character (even a new level 1) in your SG so you dont lose the base.
I don't suffer from altitis, I enjoy every minute of it.

I did exactly this. Still have my old SG back on Infinity with a few alts and a few of my friends toons in it who long ago let their subscriptions runout. I moved a few toons to freedom and started a new solo SG there. Earning prestige to build up a full base with all teleporters, etc, was taking to long. But then it occured to me to buy prestiege using influence. While the exchange rate seems silly... in today's game it's much faster to earn influence via playing the market then to try to just earn the prestige fighting in SG mode.

I can confirm that if a praetorian joins your SG and that toon has never belonged to an SG before, you get 100k bonus- but it doesn't show up as if the toon had actually earned it.
If your praetorian leaves to go to another server, there will not be any bonus. (because the first SG already got that bonus)
There has been some talk about the SG base for soloists actually transferring with you - but that's just talk. Not so much as a hint from a red name that I've seen.
