The Chantry map looks weird

I was playing on The Chantry map for the Maria Jenkins mission where you find a clue about the Statesman and battle Black Swan. Once I got into the map, everything looked weird. The background was normal, but where the rocks should be, there was only a light gray silhouette.

At first, I thought it was meant to be this way. Like, maybe, a really foggy area, but after looking at screenshots online, I saw that it shouldn't look like that. Any idea what the problem could be? This is the only map I've ever had this problem on.

Certain textures weren't loading. You could have tried /unloadgfx to see if they'd reload. If that doesn't work, right click on the game in the NCLauncher and Repair.

Indeed, and it didn't always look this bad, IMO at least. Somewhere along the way they "fixed" it to look like it does now. YMMV

Wow. That level had my head hurting, so I thought, "Surely, it's not meant to be like this." Guess I was wrong.

I'd hate to see what it used to look like. :|

Thanks for the advice. I did try what you said, but I guess it wouldn't have done any good since they meant it to look like that.

FYI, Maria Jenkins offers two missions on that map (one in the arc, one not) and I did one of them just a couple hours ago. I recalled this thread and copied her text about the dimension.

So it seems that the Dagger of Jocas is different in Praetoria and Black Swan got her hands on the Quills of Jocas? I assume that's how she made the Shadow World, which resembles the Shadow Shard that the Midnight Squad made with the Dagger. She must absorb the shadows of her victims to power herself and create her minions at the same time. Excellent work, Chromatic Cat!
Apparently, the devs took the background and the Chantry structure, then added the fog and changed the map so you can walk to the sphere along a path that doesn't allow you to wander much off to either side.
