  1. lvl 1 Hack
    lvl 2 Slice
    lvl 8 Parry

Those 3 attacks will take care of you for awhile. Make sure while leveling you primarly slot for accuracy. 3 ACC in TOs is what I usually do. After you reach DOs, 2 ACC. Make sure, you you slot enduracne early too. For me, slotting acc and end is more a benefit early in your carreer than slotting damage. If you miss, you don't do any damage, if you have no endurace, you do no damage....

Scrappers w/ Darkest Night......*thoughts on world domination come to mind*....

Of course it would be world domination for the good of the world... we wouldn't rule it with an iron fist or anything like that......but rule it we would.
  3. Well, you have a good start w/ Fitness and Speed. Alot of Regen heals are recharge based, you'll need all the recharge you can get.

Other than that, alot of people will choose to pick up the Fighting pool. They usually take Boxing, Tough and Weave. Tough will give you smashing and lethal resistance (the 2 most common types of damage in the game) and couple that with resiliance in your regen secondary. Now you won't be at huge levels of resistance, but every hit point you don't have to regen is better for you. Weave, as well as other +Def powers will help you avoid attacks. The idea here is to start stacking alot of small +def powers together to create some defense to attacks. Doing this, and using the IO system will help you achieve a pretty good defensive package.

Some of the most common power pool picks out there for a regen character is

Leaping -Combat jumping and Super Jump (Combat Jumping is one of those stacking small defensive powers)

Fitness-Hurdle(or Swift), Health (more regen), and Stamina(more endurance)

Fighting-Boxing, Tough, Weave(for reasons stated above)

    Speed- Hasten(more recharge!!)
  4. I can't speak on the Stalker but as far as the Brute goes, I would go defense 1st, then HP, then regen
  5. Well if you can wait until I16 hits, then I would recommend claws/willpower. If not, then dual blades/willpower.
  6. Heya guys! I want to make an angel character. I have the costume picked out already, now I just need an AT...lol.

The character needs to have fly, but aside from that, it is pretty open. The character will be mostly teaming up for TFs and AE stuff, but needs to be able to solo when needed.

So far, I have came up with the following ATs....

    ?/arch Defenders

    arch/? Blasters

    BS/SD Scrapper

    Katana/? Scrapper

I would love to hear suggestions on what you think would make a good angel character, and/or any other thoughts on this. Including a build templete if possible. I'm completely open for any/all ATs, as long as it can fit an angel theme (one way or another)

Like I said earlier, I would like to have fly as a travel power.

    Thank you!
  7. I believe the "optimal" Katana chain with using DA is

    DA-GC-GD-GC-DA-GC-SD-GC
  8. I would recommend using Gambler's Cut. Very fast recharge, low endurance, perfect for a proc, extremely fast animation (.67 secs I believe). Typically alot of Katana users put an Achilles' Heel proc in there, and with the amount of times you can fire off GC, the proc will be up continually on a target.
  9. Sorry for starting this thread and not responding in awhile....

My orginal point was that we are inching ever so closer back to the old days where toons where very self sufficient, and the devs took the bat to everything to even things back out again. IO's are to blame here....I'm not saying we are there, but if not monitored, we will be.

My second point was there is a big problem with the amount of +res IOs compared to +def IOs. As anyone knows, anyone can pick up +def IOs and make thier toon "harder". But, for resistance based toons, many of them do not have any kind of debuff resistance in defense, so while on paper, they can achieve 30+% on defense, it will quickly evaporate under game coniditions. However, defence based toons have debuff resistance built into thier sets, so adding more defense really improves thier survivability. This point and the fact that there is such a small number of +res IOs out there make for a very uneven comparision. Defense toons are much more survivable than resistance toons. Once again though, IOs are to blame. Taking just SOs into consideration, I would say that the two sets are very much comparable. But with the amount of +def IO sets out there and the severe lack of +res....there is no contest in my opinion.

    Solution?
    1. (not recommended) Nerf the amount of +def IO set out there.....
    2. (recommended) Increase the amout of +res sets out there....

It is as simple as that. IMO
  10. DA refreshes very fast on its own, with 5 Makos' I believe you can technically refresh it every 1 sec or so, what if you add in a damage proc to it. Almost treat it like a GC, very fast with a proc. Who needs extra defense to it when you can spam every 2 secs, with a proc no less. Add in GC with achilless heal, and then you can spam both of those, while SD and GD refresh. 2 buzzsaw attacks with extra defense, then 2 hard hitters....
  11. doh! How in the world did I forget the Steadfast unique....lol thank you!

That would put her around 41% to range....not too bad, considering the 50% in s/l res. I could drop the fighting pool altogether though and put in manuevers to get my softcap....but is it really worth the massive drop in resistance?
  12. Heya guys,

This is my very first toon, built way back in 04'. I'm just coming back to the game after a 2-3 issue break. I have always set this blaster up to be a single target take down machine. Throw in the holds in ice, and I laughingly called her a blaptroller. Anyways, I am wondering if I could get some feed back for her. I'm not at softcap range defense, but I do have 50% s/l resistance all the time. Any suggestions would be awesome to hear.

    Thank you,

  13. Believe me, I'm not calling for nerf of +def IO sets, thats why I said unfortunaly they would need to look at taking some out. I would much rather see alot more +res IO sets. But...if you follow that to its logical conclusion, all of a sudden, def and resistance sets are back to the "old" days of not needing buffs to really increase thier survivability.

I mean, it could be argued right now that it "almost" completely useless to put a FF bubble on a softcapped defense toon, or many other "help you survive" type buffs.

On the other hand, ask a Electric brute (or any resistance set really) if he wants some extra S/L res buffs on him, and then watch him drool.
  14. I find it funny that awhile back, the devs took the bat to resistance and defense secondaries and made it to where you needed help from other arch types to reach your caps. Because they said that buff type ATs were not feeling needed. So....lets fast foward.

Now we have IO's...now because of the massive amount of +def in IO sets, a toon can "easily" reach softcap defenses by themselves, but on the other hand resistance secondaries still need help to reach theirs. Now we have a situation that defense based secondaries are perferred over resistance because once again they don't need anyone else.

Somewhere I read that the devs don't balance the game taking into consideration of IO's. That they base things off of SOs. And only taking SOs into consideration, the defense sets and resistance sets are "balanced".

Well, I hate to break it to the devs, by ignoring a huge part of thier game, they have created an inbalance again. Not only an inbalance between resistance and defense sets, but also creating a ATs that don't need anyone else....

If thier intent with IOs is allow people to reach softcap type numbers, they really need to throw alot more +res IOs out there. If not, then unfort. they need to take a look at taking out alot of the +def.

    Just my observations...
  15. yeah, I should have mentioned that I'm going to use Power Sink in an offensive mode, ie start the fight with it to drain, then my plan was to use Lightning Field to keep thier endurance down....and some bonus damage.

I think its possible with some mixture of EndMod IO's and PbAoe IO's, that I could do both....still have to research some
  16. actually one guide did recommend slotting for EndMod, but no suggestions on IO sets or whatnot.

With that being said, I'm open for suggestions, either dam/or endmod.....
  17. Greetings,

I'm currently working on a DM/ELA brute and I want to add Lightning Field to my powers. Looking through various guides and such, I have came to the conclusion that I want to use it in mostly an endurance draining capacity.

I can allocate 6 slots for this power if needed, but I'm a little loss on the "optomized" way of slotting this power out. Should I franken slot? Perhaps an IO EndMod set?

    Thank you
