Leveling tips for bs/sd scrapper

This is the first time Ive played bs/sd and I was wondering if taking the early bs attacks would leveling easier for me.

I was gonna take hack, slash, and slice as my first three abilities and then go from there.

Other question I have is what shield abilities are a must have as leveling? I figured battle agility is one of em I should get before 10.

And last my plan was to just slot acc and end red on attacks till I get to so's.

Any advice would be appreciated. I just came back to the game after almost a 2 year hiatus and Im still trying to adjust.

I wouldn't pick up Slash unless you intend to use it while leveling and then respec out of it at level 22 or unless you intend to use it as a set mule for the shield breaker set.

With the exception of Grant Cover you will want to pick up all your secondary powers pretty much as soon as they open up for you (put Phallanx Fighting off until level 22 so that you can get stamina at 20)

Prior to SOs and Stamina you will get more useable defense per end spent out of Parry (and you'll be doing some damage too) than you will out of Deflection. In situations where you are facing mainly melee attacks, and/or lethal damage you can keep Deflection turned off and rely entirely on Parry to conserve endurance.

Unless you've got the vet badge that lets you take a travel power without prerequisites (or you're not taking a travel power) you'll probably want to push at least one other secondary power off to post Stamina in order to take another attack. Having only Hack and either Parry or Slice would make leveling tricky.

Parry. Parry, Parry, Parry. If SD is anything like SR, you're going to need all the extra mitigation while levelling as you can get, and Parry is a wonderful defensive power for a Scrapper. SD and SR scrappers respec out of it at 50 after they've softcapped, but until then, live by it.

lvl 1 Hack
lvl 2 Slice
lvl 8 Parry

Those 3 attacks will take care of you for awhile. Make sure while leveling you primarly slot for accuracy. 3 ACC in TOs is what I usually do. After you reach DOs, 2 ACC. Make sure, you you slot enduracne early too. For me, slotting acc and end is more a benefit early in your carreer than slotting damage. If you miss, you don't do any damage, if you have no endurace, you do no damage....

I found that combat jumping and swift plus the Raptor Pack and the Zero-G jump pack were enough travel on my shielders until I hit level 30 and picked up the travel power.

Brutes have it even easier villian zones are smaller and they can get the Raptor Pack, Zero-G pack, Gold Bricker Jet Pack, and can pop over the Grandville with 10 k inf in their pockets and get a new raptor pack any time they want.

Should I slot my toggles with end reduction till I get stamina? Ive left deflection off and used parry as advised. However Ive been using battle agility and have 1 end reduction in it so far. Should I atleast 3 slot it with end reduction till stamina?

Right now only have the base slot in Deflection, true grit, and battle agility.

Have 5 slots in Hack and Slice and base slot in parry.

Thanks again for the advice on parry, its frikkin awesome.

Slotting battle agility for defense isn't very effective at TO or even DO levels.

3 Slotted TOs takes you from 11.3% to 12.9% defense.

3 Slotted DOs takes you from 11.3% to 14.6% defense.

The problem is that slotting for end reduction isn't very significant at those levels either.

3 Slotted TOs takes it from .21 end/sec to .17 end/sec. Saving 2.4 end/min(that's not even enough end savings for an extra parry in 60 seconds)

3 Slotted DOs takes it from .21 end/sec to .14 end/sec. Saving 4.2 end/min.

Your attacks will use more end/sec than your toggles so you are always better off concentrating your end red slotting in your attacks.

As far as Battle Agiity goes your best bet is to go to the market and get 3 defense/end enhancements (1 from each of the different low level sets) and slot them.

Edit - to clarify

Fair enough, I prefer to take my travel power at 14 but if that works for you I can see leaving it off.

I rarely use ANY toggle below level 20 (when you can get stamina). Endurance reducers go in all my attacks right after +acc. As mentioned earlier, get parry and use it regularly... that will be enough mitigation to get you well into the 20s easily.
