  1. About dang time and thank you NCSoft. This was a feature that Jack promised in a pre-release interview and finally the new management delivers. I think I'm gonna like NCSoft being completely in charge now.
  2. I'm gonna miss the invasion. I was hoping they'd let it run a little longer.
  3. I read the news and I think I wet myself with glee. This is gonna be so cool.

The main reason I even want to respond is because I've run into lots of players with the above attitudes when teaming and regardless to the AT you play or the abilities your powerset has or how good you are with them, the regenism's of this post are counterproductive to the concept of "TEAM".

    [/ QUOTE ]

You are Cyclops. We are Wolverine. Nuff said bub.
  5. Booyah! They put the polls back up. Our voice was heard.
  6. [ QUOTE ]
I just wanted to take the time to say thank you for posting the poll at all. Yes, it could have been done better, but it's nice that you're not flat-out assuming what is best for us.

    [/ QUOTE ]

But that's effectively what they are doing by not getting a broad sampling of the playerbase's opinion.
  7. Positron I think you have completely underestimated just how important this issue is to the fanbase. This is monumental to us and with the way you are handling it you are as likely to loose customers as gain any new ones. This issue is huge to us and I don't think I can possibly describe just how important it is. A briefly posted poll does not do it justice in anyway. Everyone who plays this game has an implied investiment in this issue and we should all be given a fair chance to be heard.

And besides, I don't see Prefessional Wrestling on the melee list.

In regards to the poll being up for less than 24 hours:

We amassed a ton of votes in that short amount of time. In addition, a large percentage of those votes came from people who signed up for the forums just yesterday, so it's not just the "vocal minority" having their say. A lot of new-to-the-boards players got their voice in this.

In addition, there is a weirdness in the forum software that would force us to re-put up the polls (again) allowing you all a chance to vote twice, and that would have a far greater impact on the poll results than the data we received.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Poorly planned. I have been playing since beta 3 and have 2 accounts and I don't get a voice in this poll because I didn't log into the forums for the very brief time it was up. How about an in game poll? Mythic does it that way at login. Oh wait, I'm sure you'll say you don't have the technology for that either.

Ah, well, my opinion does not matter in this issue as evidenced by the rather brief poll so why the heck am I bothering to post here anyway?
  9. Let me get this straight. This poll was open for less than 1 day?
  10. TerraDraconis, your link leads to a reply, not the thread.

I couldn't give a damn what the devs think about me. Or anyone really. I sometimes go around ganking badge-hunters and squishies in siren's call with my stalker when there's no scrappers around to pwn, just for kicks. I'm one of the people that are pointed at for ruining PvP in CoX :P

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'm a PvE'er who dabbles in PvP. I always felt players like you made PvP exciting.

I like that shiny new mmo. It's fun and has an epic feel. That's the one thing CoH doesn't have for me anymore. The epic feel. AVs aren't so imposing after 3 years and I never really feel like I'm saving Paragon City, just a few of it's citizens at time.

    [/ QUOTE ]

So it just means you're getting tired of the game after so long. Maybe it's time for you to move on, but the reason that the newer game feels epic is because... it's new. For the majority of people I know, after the newness wore off, they went back to CoX.

    [/ QUOTE ]

It's not the newness, I've played plenty of new games that had no epic feel. This particular game does have an epic feel as it interwines the main story into your story. It's the content that makes it epic. Not the mechanics. That other big mmo that has been out a few years, the one who's abbreviated name is an exclamation of excitement, that one has zero epic feel. CoH lacks an epic feel because there seems to be no apparent impact on the game world by the players, other than a few pvp games.

I love CoH but the problem with it is that they simply put a comic book wrapper around some of the same old standards.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Really? Have you even played some of the old "standards" games? Camping spawns is not my idea of fun, and we don't do that here.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yes I've played many an old camping game in their day, I've been around the bend and then some. And yes, CoX eliminated a lot of bad ideas from mmos of the past, however some things didn't change. Tough mobs are tough because they simply pile on stats, just like every other mmo out there. I'm still waiting for a developer to spend as much time developing new AI as they do on graphics. That will truly innovate games.

    [ QUOTE ]
When my stalker defeated Sstheno a little bit ago, I got excited-- I just killed an incarnate goddess of snakes. Further back, I defeated an alternate dimension's Lord Recluse, lord of Arachnos. I practicly bragged about soloing him on Relentless. Further back, I defeated various heroes time and time again. The 10th time you fight Manticore can never be as good as the 1st. The 20th time you defeat Verandi and Marcone just isn't the same. Though they could do some things to rectify the situation, it's not entirelly at the fault of the devs, but moreso at the fault of fickle tastes and the amount of time you spend in the game.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I got my 50 a long time ago and killing the same mob again on every other character looses it's appeal. I have played all the content on the hero side except for task forces. I was really dissappointed to get to my high 30s in CoV and discover the exact same story lines I had already done on the hero side. I felt cheated out of a villainous career at that point and stopped playing the character.

    [ QUOTE ]

I got burnt out after spending 14 hours a day on CoX every weekend for several weeks straight. I took a break, then came back and CoH was fun again. Eventually, I'll just get bored and go somewhere else. That CoX has lasted you three years says volumes compared to other games-- especially console games, which promise usually ~40 hours of gameplay, with some replayability that just doesn't match CoX-- it definitely says good things about the game. And with MMOs, given the amount of alternatives and competition, especially from bigger companies like Blizz and Sony, CoX is doing a phenomenal job.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I agree completely. They have done a wonderful job and no other mmo has kept me subscribing for more than 6 months at a time. This is huge. The problem is that CoH didn't get any new content (except pvp zones) while CoV was being developed and then expanded to 50 levels. That was a year and a half without significant content additions until the new Faultline came out. Content is king for me, and I've played almost all of the content they have to offer. I'm just not big and replaying content.

    [ QUOTE ]
Right off the bat we are fighting gangsters. Then evil mages and indless robots. Alien invaders and supervillains from alternate dimensions. Secret organizations and ultra-skilled mercenaries. Mutants, and scientific experiments.

Sure, they can improve how it's done, but they have to worry about improving in ways that don't make the game unfun for alot of people. The game is relatively stable, the servers are EXTREMELY stable, the ATs are relatively balanced, the concept is fun, and et cetera. And all the changes they make have a chance to ruin what they've already accomplished, no matter how well-intentioned.

And there's my rant. I should stop typing these things when I'm tired :P

    [/ QUOTE ]

I agree, it's a great design but I would love to seem them introduce some more innovation. Things they've already thought of or suggested but don't have the budget for. My fear is that Marvel Online will become an idea drain on CoH. I'd hate to see all the cool ideas end up there.

I love CoH and have been playing since beta 3. I have never cancelled my main subscription although recently I did cancel me second account after 2 years. I want to see more of the world of Paragon City, there just isn't any left for me to see. I'm hanging on for I9 and inventions which I expect to add a lot of cool new features. What I am really looking forward to is I10 and the begining of the 3 issue story arc. Yes I am playing that fancy new mmo based on a piece of jewelry. But then again I like to have a second game to play when I need a break.
  13. I like that shiny new mmo. It's fun and has an epic feel. That's the one thing CoH doesn't have for me anymore. The epic feel. AVs aren't so imposing after 3 years and I never really feel like I'm saving Paragon City, just a few of it's citizens at time.

Now if the zone events had some kind of impact, like say the shops close because everyone locks their doors. Or maybe Lusca could attack citizens and you had to rescue them. Or maybe you had to run inside those burning buildings and rescue someone. That would be epic.

I love CoH but the problem with it is that they simply put a comic book wrapper around some of the same old standards. The character system is the best out there, but mobs are still just mobs and it's usually just a matter of getting the numbers to beat anything that comes along. They do the rank and file mobs very well, but the epic mobs and events just don't feel that epic.
  14. I see no reason for blasting the OP for pointing out a possible exploit of the rare drop system. He does it because he wants it fixed, not to brag. A new economy is coming to the game and he has pointed out a potential exploit and yet everyone either wants him to hush up about it (which is silly since data mining can find out if it's rampant anyway) or they dismiss him as an anomaly. Trust me, even if this is anomaly, it won't be once I9 hits the servers as there will be a gold rush to get those rares to market before anyone else. Let's get this issue out in the open now and deal with it.

    Drops II

I just don't have a problem with the Story Arc drops. It goes back to Cryptic's intent to tell a story with content and drives that point. Yes I have a 50 that may miss out on those rewards but the truth is that he didn't finish all of his story arcs as it so it wouldn't have made a difference anyway.

Until we get actual play time with the system I am willing to be patient and wait to see what happens. I look forward to inventions and feel it will add new purpose to a semi-retired 50.
  16. Well I've been active since beta and have never cancelled my account buy my 33 months isn't until Feb 1st. I don't get it.
  17. What I found is that although she disappered, her aura hung around down below and I could TP friend it to my side so I took her aura with me to fight Castillo and although I didn't pay attention to wether or nor she fought him, she did maintain aggro for me.

7th: You are the proud new owner of the stupidest pet in the history of this game. He will provide you will hours of enjoyment as you laugh at him and feel sorry for him all at the same time. He is basically a herding blaster that will try to go from group to group getting as much aggro as possible but he never seems to make it to the dumpster.

Either way, dont be afraid to use him, they grow back.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Actually the Shivan debuffs and is great help against AVs, EBs and GMs.
  19. I play on Virtue and whenever I my 29 Earth/Radiation controller uses Earthquake in a Safeguard misison my FPS plummet. It only happens in Safeguard missions.
  20. I like that you included a strategy guide as well. Most powerset guides only talk about the powersets and not how to use them.
  21. Ok so first I took my 28 controller into the Safeguard missions in IP and Talos and the main villain group was the Council with the Family vandalising and commiting the side mission crimes. Then later I took my 23 controller into a mission in Faultine. There the the main group was the Tsoo with Arachnos vandalising and the Family committing the side mission crimes. Is it always the Family in the side missions or is the 20 to 30 range always the Family?

Edit: On a side note I was suprised to see 3 villain groups in the Faultine mission (which was set in Steel Canyon) versus the Talos mission's 2 villain groups.
  22. [ QUOTE ]
Had they told us to go to rouge isles and destroy stuff there I bet people would have taken a liking to safe guard missions then.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Actually I've taken a liking to them and judging by the broadcast spam and activity at the PPD stations so have a lot of other people. I don't have a problem with not being able to destroy things but I did notice that there isn't as much to do to add time. It seems other than side missions the only thing that adds time are the vandals. There are mobs on every street corner but they don't add time to the mission unlike Mayhem missions.

It would be nice if you could auto-exemplar down to do misisons in the lower level zones.
  23. [ QUOTE ]
Thank god. Having missions that are guaranteed to be in the same zone is a great thing for CoH.

Edit: Pulling out the radio kicks the snot out of my framerate. My machine is not top of the line, but it has a 3 Ghz CPU and a GF6800GS videocard. Am I alone or are others seeing this? It's not a big deal, I guess. I wouldn't mind a bit if the radio was the same as the radio that merc MMs use to call up their troops.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Possibly RAM problem then. That proc and video card should be fine as they are similar to mine although I have an 6600OC.
