Pretty sure SG/VGs for goldside yet.
They do grant a big hefty prestiage bonus to the first SG/VG they join. -
Blah to enforced teaming no matter what double merit rewards they use as a carrot.
-
Its power supression, not just travel suppression.
Its most likley in response to many complaints about people spamming powers like healing aura/hasten/etc, drive by buffing, and annoying pets while shopping.
FWIW I hate it (power suppression) too. Making the auction house annoying to visit is something that makes me play less in preatoria. A better way would of been to have a studio B type set up, so you could choose to go to the power supressed section or not. -
I'm pretty similar, 3+ years playing, 3 50's, loads (approx 40) between 20-35

Quote:Agreed. I keep a few characters grey for RP/Concept, but lure of H/V merits is strong. There's a sense of gimping my rewards by choosing it for concept.I find the comment about being surprised there aren't more Vigs/Rogues a bit odd. The reason for this is very simple - the system rewards staying at the extremes more than it does staying in the gray area. The ability to run on both sides does not balance out the ability to earn alignment merits from tips. On the average players will follow the rewards - no one should be surprised by that.
I don't find the teaming options much better for the Vigs/Rogues - most of my teaming is found by global friends and channels, so I'll just alt to a Hero/Villian if need be, and can only be in one zone at a time anyway. -
Seem like crazy good vet rewards to me. Grats to those getting them, and for staying around subscribed for 7 years.
The market place one is just wow. Would of been great even as a slow recharge click reward. Grab wakies for the team, drop off salvage, avoid the no power slowmode Praetoria auction houses, and it comes witha free set of vanguard steak knives,
Combined with the portable crafting temp power its even crazier good.
I hope there is another way to earn similar ability somewhere along the line. -
Awesome stuff. Great to get all those VG stuff unlocked for all my characters.
Far more than I would of expected for nothing -

Quote:I think you skimmed past my post in this thread that explicitly states that the alpha slot is something that can be soloable, and that I'd be happy of the rest of the systems is as soloable. I also like how the shard rate increases on any team so it allows for PUG play (which is what I do mostly - self interest here) not just taskforce play.It doesn't remain to be seen. Its possible to solo your way to filling Alpha. I've done it myself on a scrapper. QED.
I like how you get best rate for taskforce, then random mission teams then solo. I consider it a good mechanic for promoting team play without buggering the 'pure' solo player.
I wouldn't say that doing it on a scrapper implies anything special over any other less solo friendly AT.
My comment, in context is that it remains to be seen about future unlocking of different incarante abilities. And yes, that does remain to be seen, as its in the future and all. I have interpreted the letter is probably the most negative way on first reading. I am most likely wrong to do so.
Quote:I don't think anyone can say what you want them to say.
Quote:The current stated direction is to provide soloing opportunities to participate in the Incarnate system, albeit they will be deliberately slower (or rather, the teaming opportunities will be explicitly designed to be faster, ala the shard dropping mechanics).
Quote:However, no one is going to promise you anything about the future that hasn't been designed or decided yet. The best you're going to get is as far as I know this general design direction hasn't changed yet. If that's not good enough for you, you're never going to get a better one, ever. The devs are prohibited from making such forward-looking statements in general. The devs are going to do what's best for the game, or rather what the company tells them to do that is in their opinion the best for the game, and they are not going to tie their future hands with promises to you or me.
This shouldn't need to be stated, but it often has to be it seems.Quote:.. am committed to giving you insight into where we are going, what we are doing, and how AWESOME its going to be (to steal a favorite word from War Witch). With the pure ambition of Issues 18, 19, 20, and 21, I know weve been focused on development and a little quieter than usual on the forums, but that doesnt mean we havent been listening. We want you to have an active voice in where we are going
I'm asking for insight on the general direction about soloing and the incarnate end game. About the next issues Incarante slot.
Do you understand this is different to asking the devs to tie thier hands for the future of the rest of the game forever?
If NCsoft is serious about wanting to listen, (and I believe they are) then don't ya think they are probably serious about having players speak up about thier concerns.
If there is as you claim, a stated direction is to provide soloing opportunities already, then all I need is a pointer to that. -
It remains to be seen. I hope I am wrong.
And this is the time to complain about it as a possible direction before it beomes fact, and to ask for clarifaction.
Quote:With the upcoming Incarnate Trials, you’re going to be able to take your characters to power levels undreamt Quote:Well, we know for sure that the BAF Trail is for 12-24 players -
Quote:I'm not complaining that I have to play my character to get to 60.
So what if you have to run an arc and craft some very easy to obtain enhancements to increase your power sufficiently to run the new "End Game" content? What if they raised the level cap to 60 - would you complain that you actually had to play to get your character to 60?
I'm complaining that I have no choice other than to team to get to 60.
This is not something that City has ever done before - locked level progression behind teaming. -
Quote:It's not a massive assumption. It's a small assumption. No existing trial in game can be started by one person. This is a massive assumption to make already. Technically The Alpha slot is purely solable, and there is some TFs you can do once you unlock it. To me it makes it all encompassing. You have the ways for soloists to gain new strength and please the team-players/ TFers that love doing that.
With the little info we have on this, I would not think anything of it yet, until more info is released.
The Alpha slot mission is solable, so is getting shards, though if we need 200+ for rares it will be a grindfest for those who choose to do it without a team, and I'll be happy if the rest of the incarnate stuff is as soloable as the alpha is.
I agree we don't have enough information, hence why I asked for a plain clarification instead of guessing games. -
Incarnate Trials
My thought on this is that the solo friendly City of heroes will require teaming to reach the new level cap. That doesnt seem a good thing to me. Not just easier to reach the (pseudo) level by teams but to actually demand it in forms a trials which as a long time player, I'm sure you know implies a taskforce type activity.
Doesn't seem to fit the 'End game for all' statement. I really hope that inclusive, accessible, and easy to participate in means a solo path.
I20 might need to be called learn2team.
Unparalleled Content The last few issues have had some amazing stuff in them. Well deserved grats on the teams making them.
Service with a Smile as you will use the launcher have mandated. It will bring your community toghether with our other communities. You will like it.
We Love You, Man I love this game too. Really enjoy playing it. I hope it stays true to what it has been for all this years. It has been/is a great game.
I am committed to giving you insight into where we are going, what we are doing, and how AWESOME it’s going to be
- Please let us know in clear English if teaming will or won't be required for incarnate path.
Boosters
I'm all for new boosters, the picture of the birdman looks fantastic. -
Looks good, best of luck to you with it

Quote:In my experience, one shard an hour is about average for casual play. Estimating 200 shards is estimating 200 hours. For people who only play a few hours a week, this will take them a long while - months.Well, switch my argument to "I don't get people who worry about what might happen based on unrealistic expectations" if it reads better for you. Based on the current rates, it seems kind of far-fetched to me to assume that the very rare will require heavy grinding/farming.
The slots/level shifts are a replacement level cap. Fairly natural that people will want thier characters to be at the level cap.
The random element is worse for some than actual exp which is a definable steady going up progress bar.
I do think its too early to worry about as yet. -
I havent noticed difficulty being much different red/blue side.
Some tips are a bigger PITA than others on both sides. -
I really enjoyed his Exile series, A rpg game that had many many puzzles, secrerts and multiple paths. You could play for a long time and still find new things.
It's amusing that he blogs and reads blog comments but not interact with his forums. I do recall a couple of dummy spits and bannings from aeons ago, so as he says probably better he doesn't. He didnt take what I would call reasonable criticism about stuff well.
He does really dislike online forums, and has for a long time ('people who inhabit online forums are idiotic losers...Oh, and by the way? No sane game designer reads the forums. No matter how sensible a change you make to a game will always be a pack of screaming yahoos tearing it apart').
He's credability as a game dev blogger is totally tarnished by his on record (linked from his companies website) supporting RMT. -
Thanks for a great guide.
I'd suggest the numina's unique goes into health so its a constant buff in every form, not just for the dwarf heal. -
Hi all,
I've put off respeccing my PB for inherent fitness, though am looking forward as having stamina in forms should be nice buff.
I had a fairly good build planned, but kind of aborted it due toits cost versus the time I actually play my PB.
I did love playing my PB up to 50, but at the moment its more grind than awesome, as I look for shards. so am hoping a better build will make it more fun again.
I know current build is too weak for some attacks, the kinectic crashes were in there as place holders while I saved for the purples. The idea being good recharge/recovery/regen with focus on+damage buffs, and use the human form shields for muling extra psi resist.

Suggestions and alt builds welcome please. I'm okay with build direction changes. -
You also need to be level 30, and have done the aura mission.
-
Sure, I'd like it extended.
Espically for the ski slopes. Despite sucking at them. -
One thing I noticed, is the stealth proc in combat jumping. It can fit into sprint and save a slot.
-
I use the +recharge a lot, the grant Invs a fair bit, and the +perception frequently.
I also use up any spare salvage I have with buffs.
In particular, if I die in a missions, its nearly always head to base, and empower up.
