1. You could save a lot of cash by using mid-30s set pieces instead of 50s. (You can change default IO level in Mids under Options -> Configuration.)

There's no need to slot an Adjusted Targeting recharge if you're not going to place more of the set in Build Up. You can make some nice cash by selling that piece if you already have it, however, and just slot another common Recharge IO.

Reactive Armour is considerably less expensive to buy and craft than Aegis. The Defense bonuses aren't as big, but they're more numerous and do add up. I would go with Detonation (5pc) in Ball Lightning and Multistrike Lightning Field (6pc) to continue building those

I would recommend a Steadfast Res/Def in Grounded.

Elec Armour doesn't really need Psionic Resistance or Defense; you get solid Psionic protection from the armour set itself.

You probably don't plan to malefactor much, but I would switch Super Speed and Lightning Reflexes so you have your own travel power in Bloody Bay for Shivan runs. In fact I would switch your power order around a bit so you had your KB protection before level 28. Trading out Build Up 'til later is probably the easiest thing to do.

Personally I never felt my Elec Armours needed Tough and Aid Self. To each their own, but you may find Weave a better choice than Aid Self, as you probably get interrupted a lot being a resistance-based self.
2. Neither of my /elec Brutes have problems dealing with the assorted cadre of enemies available at level 50. I don't tend to solo purple bosses often, however; I prefer to play on the 4th rep (more bodies for smashing). And when I feel I need it, I'm not ashamed or afraid to pop a couple inspirations to help me. My experience may differ from yours, however, as I went EM/Elec and DM/Elec. Both of them have different tricks dealing with threats. And I didn't purple out either of them. (Tho' the EM traded epic attacks for the Fighting Pool.) Neither of them have Stamina.

I'm not sure what your attack chain is, but perhaps you should consider leading with Build Up, Lightning Rod, a punch or two, Thunderstrike, then Power Sink. I do something similar with my Elec/DA Brute, and all that knockdown keeps mobs bouncing on their backs, giving me plenty of time to pop Dark Regen (if need be) or just continue wailing on them. Sure it'll take more than 2 applications to completely drain a big target with Power Sink, but one shot brings them down a whole bunch if you've well slotted for End Mod, and they can no longer use their hardest attacks. With Lightning Field you should be able to keep them drained or low, too.

It excludes the Medicine Pool, because I honestly don't think you'll need it. It does have Super Speed, Weave, and Conserve Power. It has a bit more defense and tricks overall, as well as more efficient slotting, and sacrifices very little. (Plus if you haven't implemented your above build I highly doubt you'll notice a difference.) This build assumes you don't malefactor below 35.

And you should always put Healing uniques in auto powers where possible, otherwise you have to activate the power they're in to get their benefit for 120seconds at a time.
4. Any /elec Brute can go Staminaless past 35, when you get Power Sink slotted up well. Before that, if you choose not to respec into a Staminaless build, have blues handy and slot for lots of end redux. Fit in recovery bonuses wherever you can; remember that low level Impervium Armour and Steadfast Protection give recov bonuses for just 2 pieces, and as low levels are not horribly expensive or take expensive rare salvage. (Plus 4 slotting @25ish will do you fine.)

You will have to learn to use Power Sink more proactively on a Staminaless build, and for a while pay close attention to your attack chain so you know when the best time to use it without dropping your toggles. Once you get in the habit, however, it becomes like second nature.
5. Woohoo tanjyoubi omedetou, Larissa! Hope your day is awesome.
6. I have been using 2 red CoT Guides while in Rest against my SS/WP Brute. I have some HP accolades already tho', and focused on +HP set bonuses, so I made a tossaway dual build slotted with just a handful of SOs. Any hits I take have to get by HPT and the Accolades to count, so I had to play around before I found a good combo.

As a Crab, you may not be able to handle 2 CoT Guides; they only use the big sword melee attack, but it hits pretty hard. Their strikes are a few seconds apart so I have time to regen some HP before the second strike kills me, but the bar does get pretty low.
7. Kerse! *noogies, anticipates candies*

And thanks for the arts compliments. It's what I do. :3
8. Wow this thread has taken a me on a trip down memory lane.

Also, I'll pass along the fond wishes to Doug the Troll; I know he'd appreciate the warm fuzzies. He always had a blast playing as Doug and never had a bad time on Justice.
9. I have a 50 Storm/Dark Defender which is easily my most damaging, chaos-enducing and best debuffing Defender. I can not see the Corrupter version being anything less than an absolute blast to play.

You will absolutely want to build for lots of recovery and endurance reduction, however. This combo is a beast. I would personally prefer to always be teamed, because Storm's powers are just so AOE tastic... you want more bodies to toss around!

I did not take the self-heal power on my Defender, but keep in mind the heal is only about a 15-20% heal even slotted up. It does moderate damage, tho', so it's a good attack.
10. I have a 50 Fire/TA and don't worry too much about your imps freaking out with a lit Oil Slick Arrow. They freak out initially, but will wade back in to attack mobs.

Or you can set up for your imps to take out one group while you work on another with OSA.

Anyway, Fire/TA is a great combo; I did skip Hotfeet on mine because I went Staminaless. But I prefer to fight outside melee, so Hotfeet would be largely wasted on my build. It is worth it to have both Flash Arrow and Smoke; using them on different mobs near each other means you can stealth by quickly where need be, or use them together to well-debuff one group. Web Arrow means you can set up for containment on a mob without 'wasting' a damage power. Overall, TA just comes with a great assortment of powers to help you debuff and destroy groups. And since they speed up the assorted TA animations I haven't had a problem of 'dying while animating.' (Which was my complaint about the set some time back.)
11. My SS/WP Brute did 49 levels without Stamina. I took it at the end because... well I'd taken everything else I'd wanted. It's nice to have, but not necessary. Throw some +recovery bonuses in your build and make sure you slot end redux into most of your attacks and toggles, and you'll be fine.

This does not take into consideration if you're building for lots of global recharge and/or Hasten, however.

I <3 your design mighty hard, Witch_Engine. It's awesome.

And I too thank those who enjoyed my submission!

Woo!
13. Dunno if this will help or not but:

MA/SR - 50
Kat/Reg - 50
DM/WP - 50
Spines/Reg - 25

Sonic/Traps

I have a 35 Sonic/Traps that I like to use as a merit mule. Solid build, lots of fun. I skipped Fitness in favor of lots of Recovery bonuses. So yeah, I'm just gonna echo everything good that's already been said here about the combo.
15. syrusbLiz

Grav/Emp Help

I have one of these, and it's a pretty solid combo. Tho' I tend to think of my buffs as 'for my pet' more than 'for my team' so I skipped Heal Other. (Singy can't be healed, but it can have it's Regen buffed.) I took everything else in my Primary and Secondary, however.

I went for a handful of IO Recovery bonuses and skipped Stamina and Health, tho' I do have Hurdle to navigate as this 'troller is a Super Speeder. I went with Primal Forces Mastery, mostly for Power Boost, and skipped all other Power Pools.

When I'm on a team I feel like I fall between the Control and Buff line.. that is I do a bit of both but don't particularly excel at either. I attribute this to how I play more than how the sets work together.

I will say that slotting a KB into Lift is awesome, because I like turning Hellions and Skulls into Fireworks in Perez with a friend with Fire Ball. (Or you can think of it as explosive clay pigeons.) And a bit of Range into Wormhole can really make a difference when you want to move one group into another. Or make mobs bounce.

As for slotting, Grav does a lot of slowing, so use Tempered Readiness to your advantage for cheap slotting. Thunderstrike is also nice for your single target attacks, and if you're having KB problems, Lift and Propel take Kinetic Crash. I think Wormhole might, too. Or you could drop a Karma KB IO into Fortitude.

It's hard to just say 'do this do that' without context, however. So like suggested above, if you could drop your build, or desires for your build, more help can be given.
16. Don't buy 50's, they're largely a waste.

If you malefactor, you'll lose the bonuses. They cost almost double what 49's do to craft for a percent of a percent difference in effectiveness. And if you're slotting more than just those two pieces in your powers, I guarantee you'll notice no difference if you go for lower 40s pieces, or even mid 30s. (Plus you get to keep the set bonuses further down.)

Plus, if you go for sub-50s, you'll get them faster and at a severely lower cost.

Hah!

Had one show up recently as part of the last ambush on the '30 Fir Bolg thru the door' mission out of Croatoa. Actually we had to go find it, since we cleared the map, then that ambush, then stood around for a minute wondering what was up....
18. Had an awesome time at the RV Invasion and the RWZ raid last night. Collected Justicier on my Tank, who is not set up for PvP (woo thanks!) and over 500 merits on my Rad/Pain. (More Vanguard costume options here I come.)

I will see you all at the RWZ raid tonight, and will be cheering from the sidelines of Virtue while I lead my SG through the tasks of Moonfire.
19. Dude! Sounds like a total blast! Gonna try to get my new blaster to 35 in time for the all Blaster ITF. Otherwise I'll be around on my familiar faces. :3
20. Thank you, Paragon Studios. I had a blast yesterday, collecting an assortment of badges and fighting herds of AVs and GMs at the same time. I even (temporarily) collected Pumpkin King on my badge Mastermind (got screenshots!), and Sandblasted on a level 1 Scrapper!

Happy 5th Annivesary, City of Heroes, from a 4 year veteran.
21. Well the Dark Armour Scrapper can use both the Defense (Karma) and the Resistance (Steadfast) KB IOs because DA comes with an assortment of toggle types.

The Fire Armour only has resistance toggles, so you're a bit more limited there, unless you take Hover or Combat Jumping. Unfortunately, Rise of the Phoenix does not take KB sets, even tho' it does crazy KB. (Plus 38 is pretty long to wait 'til KB protection anyhoo.)

Of course both toons can use the Blessing of the Zephyr KB IO in their travel powers. But this one is generally harder to obtain, being a TF pool roll. (Note: the assorted Sprint powers are not coded to take Universal Travel Sets; it has to be a pool travel power.)

On the plus side, whatever power(s) you slot the IO(s) in won't have to be running for you to gain benefit. You only need to be no more than 3 levels below the IO(s).
22. Despite the attitude of one of the above posters, I have to agree that Tracing is a horrible idea. You don't really learn anything from it, other than how to copy. You don't learn about how or why things look like they do; their basic functions and construction. And while you may find you admire how other artists work, you have to be careful about referencing or emulation, because not all of them get it right. And many of them have years of practice and observation under their belts.

Try going out and sketching what you see; reference drawing from live subjects, whatever they may be. Do quick gesture drawings of people around you at the mall, the park, etc. Take some time to sketch your surrounding area or objects; trees, buildings, cars, whatever.

And just keep at it. Given time and effort, you will get there.
23. I think this thread keeps getting churned up because people really, really need a place to vent. Also, it can be informative for those considering to hire MMOArt, or any other artist around here, really.

Which I find totally understandable.

Sadly, I cannot offer any good advice to those who have a situation with MMOArt, other than what's already been said.

25. Mentioned above, Craig Mullins, for those who don't know. One of my favourite digital artists.

Even he says, " A lot of people have been writing and asking "I see those how I work things but what I really want to know is how you do it." The only thing I can think of this meaning is real basic drawing and painting lessons.

Foundation, study, practice. You can't just throw a bunch of filters on a piece and hope it'll look good without the basic foundation of forms.
