Unbreakable... (Again)

Okay, round three, helpful people. Show me my errors:

I located a mission with a Chief Soldier with the rounded shoulder pads. I cleared the entirety of said mission, excepting Mr. Round Shoulders. I stood in front of him and watched him flail at me with his sword. Ate a ton of oranges, popped Rest. He swords me for all my HP but one. Awesome. Okay, ready to watch my HP rebound...

He then immediately shoots me with said sword. There goes that last HP. Even the wiki says I had the right guy. What am I doing wrong?

They changed that Rikti Chief Soldier. He now does a second ranged attack even when in melee range.

That mob is no longer the ideal Damage Farm mob. You'll have to find another mob.

I was using a +3 Hercules Titan for my damage farm way back when I was working on the Immortal badge for my tanker. I don't know if that'll work for everybody, though.

Yeah, I am disappointed too. I could have earned my last damage badge before the change in i14 hit, but I ended up working on some day jobs instead. Now it's going to end up taking me at least 3 times longer to get that last 150M.

I did some testing and found that for me, 2 CoT Fire Thorn Casters is the best progress/hr I can get. Their attacks combined put me down to 25hp and I barely have enough time to regen before they strike again. I only did it a couple nights since I did my testing, but I still have the mission sitting there for when I get around to doing it some more. lol

Oh, for the love of... I've soloed this character on regular mission content all the way to 50 and been doing street and TF stuff--I'm not trying to farm every single damage badge in the game, I'm just trying to score Unbreakable before this guy gets any +HP IOs or Accolades. He only just got Ironman the other night. I guess it's my own fault that he doesn't take a lot of damage. *sigh*

How hard is it to find Rularuu brutes red-side? They hit with one massive attack with about a 10 second recharge. They're what I used for all the damage badges (blue-side, where you can get infinite repeatable missions with them).

Any specific brutes? I just ran the entirety of Alone in the Darque and they all killed this character. *sigh*

Hey devs, are you listening? Lower the requirement for this damn badge already, so we don't have to farm to get our accolades (or just lower the badge tier required for Born in Battle).

A better idea would have the devs rethink how the villain accolade badges are achieved. Going into a PvP zone, getting debt (much easier to work off with patrol XP), and requiring a damage farm (tons of players will get to 50 before they get badge) are really poor choices for getting an accolade. They have rethought how to do the AE badges so it makes sense to fix badges that need it more.

Depends on your build. I used to use a lvl 51 brute minion for my controller while resting; I'd just finish healing the damage when he'd do another strike. If you have an outside healing source, you can of course ramp that up.

Before the Rikti Shoulder Pads Chief godsend, I used a 52/53 Noble Brute (the lieut) from the FBZ on my regen scrapper. Was much slower than the Rikti Chief but it was moving the bar significantly (it helped me go from mid 4th to the 5th or 6th badge - fuzzy memory).

If you're just looking to reach Unbreakable for Born in Battle, it'll definitely do the trick.

The Noble Brute (lieutenant) was the one that one-two punched me in Rest. I just assumed, based on waiting in aggro range with the minion, that it was capable of doing the same. Perhaps I'll try it with the minion tonight?

Oh, and this is on an IOd level 50 Crab Spider. I just wanted to grab this badge before finishing IOs/Accolades that gave +HP. Once you've got even a fraction of bonus HP you'll never ever see any progress on damage-taken badges unless you outright die.

Might have to do with the regen cap being different from one AT to the other (scrapper is 3k, VEATs is 2k) and the base HP as well (VEATs at 50 is 1071 HP)

Given those parameters, Turg's setup looks like a good start (controllers have slightly less HP and the same regen cap)

What you could do (if you have no HP Accolades bonii) as well is use your second build (non IO'ed) and use that one to get bigger damage credit (no reason it shouldn't work) to get rid of you IO HP bonii

Ah, thanks for the helpful suggestion. Still, I'm just trying to grab Unbreakable for a "someday" Born in Battle. I'm tired of staying away from my last Mayhem mission just so I don't accidentally score Invader. True, pretty sure there is an Ouroboros FB mode that nukes Accolade powers--but in the end, I'm still no closer to Unbreakable.

It's not even about the badge--it's about choosing to leave my computer on all night for a few nights, just so I can improve my character. No lava villain-side?

I have been using 2 red CoT Guides while in Rest against my SS/WP Brute. I have some HP accolades already tho', and focused on +HP set bonuses, so I made a tossaway dual build slotted with just a handful of SOs. Any hits I take have to get by HPT and the Accolades to count, so I had to play around before I found a good combo.

As a Crab, you may not be able to handle 2 CoT Guides; they only use the big sword melee attack, but it hits pretty hard. Their strikes are a few seconds apart so I have time to regen some HP before the second strike kills me, but the bar does get pretty low.

Yuck. Aside from winning the SF, you'd then likely have to thoroughly cleanse the map of all monsters to make sure you dont get any sudden surprises. Not really sure if that map would be worth using for a damage soak.

Hey, I just feel like I'm running out of options after failing so many times. I realize that it doesn't involve a colossal amount of effort to set these things up, but it does take some effort and preparation. And after the, what sixth or seventh time? I'm just tired of it all.

FWIW, I used a purple Seneschal in a radio mish on my Scrapper to get the last damage badges. The occasional extra DoT on the melee attack helped, and I could recover just before the next swing. Not sure if Carnies show up in paper missions, though.

They do, but I would imagine that a fire DoT would be the absolute opposite of what I need for lame over-night sitting. Hrm. Thanks!
