Elec/Elec build help

I was hoping I could get some help on my build. I’m pretty set on the powers themselves. I definitely want both Aid self and Tough. I can probably be talked into switching out Jacobs ladder for Chain induction, but that is about it for powers.

However, I am very flexible on slotting and IO sets. Recharge was the only real build plan I actually had when putting this together. I’d like to keep the build down to about 40 million total for recipe purchases, so no LOTG + recharge recipes and such. I’m already well over my budget with this build so any cost saving in recipe purchasing would be appreciated as well.

Thanks in advance for any help offered. Your time is appreciated.

You could save a lot of cash by using mid-30s set pieces instead of 50s. (You can change default IO level in Mids under Options -> Configuration.)

There's no need to slot an Adjusted Targeting recharge if you're not going to place more of the set in Build Up. You can make some nice cash by selling that piece if you already have it, however, and just slot another common Recharge IO.

Reactive Armour is considerably less expensive to buy and craft than Aegis. The Defense bonuses aren't as big, but they're more numerous and do add up. I would go with Detonation (5pc) in Ball Lightning and Multistrike Lightning Field (6pc) to continue building those

I would recommend a Steadfast Res/Def in Grounded.

Elec Armour doesn't really need Psionic Resistance or Defense; you get solid Psionic protection from the armour set itself.

You probably don't plan to malefactor much, but I would switch Super Speed and Lightning Reflexes so you have your own travel power in Bloody Bay for Shivan runs. In fact I would switch your power order around a bit so you had your KB protection before level 28. Trading out Build Up 'til later is probably the easiest thing to do.

Personally I never felt my Elec Armours needed Tough and Aid Self. To each their own, but you may find Weave a better choice than Aid Self, as you probably get interrupted a lot being a resistance-based self.

I haven’t actually run with aid self “yet”. I leveled with Tough though. I won’t give that up . There are times when I really wished I had aid self. Mostly when running with high damage low support teams obviously. That may go eventually, but I want to at least try it in the build before I decide it isn’t needed.

I’m a vet so I’ve got a few respecs to burn, and I’m not investing a lot of cash or slots in it. This is not my current configuration, but what I would “like” now that I am 50 and have no leveling concerns (only soloing on rare occasions, etc).

Off the top of my head (no acess to Mids at work )

You can save some slots by 4 slotting your shields. By slotting 3 Titanium Coatings & a common RES IO, you'll have plenty of RES and a 1.5% health set bonus from each.

Not a big fan of Jacobs Ladder. (I have a elm/ela btw) Decent damage, but a pain to line up and the animation is on the longish side. Chain induction works a lot better then it used to and it still hits pretty hard. The chain shock is icing on the cake.

Doctored wounds is a nice alternative way to slot Aid Self. You lose the recovery & health from Miracle, but you get another 5% recharge if you need it. Also, you might want to move it up in your build so you can get an int. redux into it.

Mebbe consider 6 slotting Power Sink with the Efficacy Adaptor set and 4-5 slotting Stamina with Performance Shifter. Saves you a slot or 2 and the proc would better serve you in Stamina.

If you can find the slots, might be a good idea to throw some slots into Build Up. 5 slotting Adjusted Targeting is a cheap way to slot for DMG, ACC, and another recharge bonus(es).

Some of these sets will make you hit the wall on 5% recharge bonuses. But, that can allow you some flexability to throw different sets into your melee powers. Different sets for other bonuses or allow you to frankenslot to allow for procs.

Sorry....I'm all over the place without Mids. Hope my suggestions help/make sense
I have had a blast playing my elm/ela. No end problems. High recharge & DMG lets me deal out plenty of AoE goodness. Not very durable, but HP bonuses and Aid Self give some breathing room.

Good luck!

I did some retooling. I went with 4 Reactive Armors instead of 5 Aegis’s. That freed up 4 slots and a ton of cash. Switched Boxing to Mako’s since I had all the 5% recharges by 6 slotting efficacy adapters in power sink. Move performance shifters over to stamina. Moved SS up in the build. Went with multistrikes in lightning field. Mu lightning went to decimations.

I feel a lot better about the build now. I really like the 15% melee defense and 37.5% recharge. Thanks for the help.

Anything else you can think of?

With this build you don't really need that recharge IO in Havoc Punch. The difference between having it and not is less than a third of a second. I would instead put that slot into Stamina for another Defense bonus, or into Build Up as another common Recharge.

If you feel you need another slot, Hasten's recharge is only about 10 seconds more by removing a recharge. I don't know how often you use it, but I tend to treat it as more situational on my toons with it. ('Ugh, really need Mutation to come back sooner/Wow web'nades are killin' my recharge/Aiee my powers are all tiny dots!' etc.)

I took your advice and moved the recharge slot out of Havoc Punch and moved it into stamina.

Thanks everyone for all your help!
