Grav/Emp Help

Hello All,

I'm coming back after being gone since I10 and before that I hadn't played since I1. I didn't touch my 36 Grav/Emp controller when I came back in I10 but now I'm getting the urge to play my controller again, especially as most of the teams I seem to find are loaded with DPS but defenders and controllers are few and far between at times. I'm wondering if I could get some help with a build and slotting as I have 4 respecs currently available and this guy is still slotted for perma hasten and 2 pets.

Any advice that you could give would be great.

So is Grav/Emp so under played that no one can shed any light for me? I think I know what powers I want but I have no clue how I should be slotting now days.

I'll be honest..I had a Grav/Emp and rerolled him with a different secondary at about level 14, so I am not as familiar with that combination.

Even though your build will be older, if you could post some information on which powers you like and use, I wouldn't mind putting them into a build w/ suggested common SO/IO slotting.

I have played several Empathy toons, but my Gravity troller has Trick Arrow as his secondary. Grav/Emp and Grav/TA will play quite differently.

I know some of the powers I use you might not like, and I may have skipped some of the powers you use (I don't like propel or lift for example).

With that information, any suggestions or build advice will benefit you more

I have one of these, and it's a pretty solid combo. Tho' I tend to think of my buffs as 'for my pet' more than 'for my team' so I skipped Heal Other. (Singy can't be healed, but it can have it's Regen buffed.) I took everything else in my Primary and Secondary, however.

I went for a handful of IO Recovery bonuses and skipped Stamina and Health, tho' I do have Hurdle to navigate as this 'troller is a Super Speeder. I went with Primal Forces Mastery, mostly for Power Boost, and skipped all other Power Pools.

When I'm on a team I feel like I fall between the Control and Buff line.. that is I do a bit of both but don't particularly excel at either. I attribute this to how I play more than how the sets work together.

I will say that slotting a KB into Lift is awesome, because I like turning Hellions and Skulls into Fireworks in Perez with a friend with Fire Ball. (Or you can think of it as explosive clay pigeons.) And a bit of Range into Wormhole can really make a difference when you want to move one group into another. Or make mobs bounce.

As for slotting, Grav does a lot of slowing, so use Tempered Readiness to your advantage for cheap slotting. Thunderstrike is also nice for your single target attacks, and if you're having KB problems, Lift and Propel take Kinetic Crash. I think Wormhole might, too. Or you could drop a Karma KB IO into Fortitude.

It's hard to just say 'do this do that' without context, however. So like suggested above, if you could drop your build, or desires for your build, more help can be given.

Well this character is really only for teaming, I'm not a fan of soloing in CoX because I find it very boring and painful. So with that in mind I'm looking at powers that are more team oriented. I really like propel but the animation is just too long to be useful in a team I feel. I also like lift but I used to find crush to be more beneficial to help stack immobilizes. I have never taken Dimension shift and probably never will simpy because I feel it would be way to annoying. Below is the build I was thinking of but as I said slotting seems to be my big problem because I don't really remember what the different abilities gain the most from and how the different sets effect them.

Ok, at this point you might want to start "frankenslotting" your powers with differet set IOs to maximize different aspects of these powers. I don't have access to Mid's right now, but this slotting should give you a rough idea of which powers need slots and what aspects to enhance.

I would personally take the powers in a different order, but that should not affect you unless you plan to exemplar down.

47 => Consume ==> Acc(47),Acc(48),Rech(48),Rech(48),EndMod(50)
49 => Recall Friend ==> EndCost(49)

You can check the numbers in Mid's to give you an idea of which sets give good bonuses. I would go for +recharge as much as possible for the empathy buffs.

I hope this helps some

Edit: Also, I just threw in Recall Friend for the last pick there since I wasn't sure what you wanted for sure. You could replace that with anything, but I generally use that pick on a power that doesn't need to be heavily slotted.
