  1. ... too... many... defenders?

    ... Huh?

I am not sure whether it is "too many defenders" or "too many controllers" that I find harder to comprehend. That's like "too much garlic".
  2. You know what would be cheap?

Give time bomb and trip mines -res.

    First 50?

I've enjoyed most of the stuff I've tried so far. For very different reasons. I think right now the /dev blaster may be winning just on having the most support for play styles I tend to enjoy when soloing.

We'll see. By then I should be able to bomb the heck out of anything without snipers. And of course, I can always group with people and be a little less useful than someone else might be, but no one cares if I'm fun to play with.

Right now, it's looking like dp/dev blaster (now 33) may be the winner. Yeah, I know, dp is sorta gimped for blasters, and /dev is desperately in need of tune-ups. But the play style suits me quite well. I don't mind spending 3 minutes setting up for a single spawn if it means I can take the spawn with a single shot.

  7. Yeah, I play on Virtue, and I've simply never seen that. I see stalkers on teams sometime. I've never seen anyone suggest or hint that stalkers are a problem, or that there is a downside to having a stalker on a team. Typically, stalkers eliminate nuisance enemies (PPD Equalizers, for instance) early in every spawn, and that makes life good.
  8. The thing is... Weak and strong are not as important to me as "fun for me, with the way I like to play". The point of the guide is not to tell people they should play /dev, but to tell them what they might like or dislike about it. "It's pretty weak now, and traps is better" is certainly a compelling point.

But, strong or weak, it's still really fun for me, and I think it would be better if there were a guide up that actually had the powers the set currently has -- and which pointed out some of the weaknesses. Because no one is about to deny that the set has weaknesses.
  9. In particular, the version of Mids that was up last I looked didn't have inherent stamina available for slotting.
  10. A program that lets you build characters outside the game, slot arbitrary IOs/HOs/etc in them, and see the resulting numbers.

Taser is sorta short range, but yes.

You could also add a -range component to Smoke Grenade, but that might start to get a little cheap...
I think "cheap" is precisely the intent of /devices. It's a set built around the intent that, if you take all the powers in it, you can kill a x8 spawn by standing around a corner from them and /em walllean, because they will die trying to get to you after the time bomb goes off.
  12. Trip mine strikes me as basically okay as is -- situational, perhaps, but I usually find that teams like to have people with trip mines around. Time bomb is more dependent on being able to stealth to toe-bomb with it.

If cloaking device allowed you to toe-bomb, it would massively improve both cloaking device and time bomb.
  13. The one that made me sad was the discovery that my options for Frozen Sword are a sword, or a BIGGER sword. But I don't want a sword! The reason I don't have that power is that the sword is antithematic for me.

  15. The Katana attack set is two-handed. It's not that the sword itself can never be used except two-handed; it's that the animations for the Katana set are two-handed.

    Slotting Hover?

It's in the 70mph range. That said, I don't slot it for speed, by mid levels it's Plenty Fast, moreso now that we have Swift inherent. I just put a kismet and a karma -kb in it.

    You've created a monster.

This character can have a full ranged attack chain, plus rain of fire and fire ball for AoE. On top of that, it has moderate resistance and a pittance of defense to everything, along with mez protection, stealth, and the best self heal in the game. The mastermind portion gives it bodyguard mode with five pets, for an additional resistance to everything, while taunt and the taunt aura keep aggro on the mastertankblastermind. The protector bots give the character another 11% defense to everything and can heal the drones/each other, while the FFG grants him another 15% or so. Triage beacon for some steady +regen if there wasn't enough survivability already.
Four. Second protector bot isn't until 24.

In many cases, I've got things that are, say, ten levels out of date, but which would be worth a substantial amount of money. For instance, my dark/ tanker has procs in Death Shroud, because I thought they'd proc every tick, not every 5 ticks. (Every tick, they'd be good upgrades. Every 5 ticks, they aren't.) I have a recharge slow proc in smoke grenade on a /dev blaster, which turns out to be a bad idea (it turns a non-aggro power into an aggro power).

So, mostly, chance to extract things that are worth money instead of just overwriting them.
  19. I like the idea of TD giving a +range boost. That would be a way for it to distinguish itself, that wouldn't always matter but might help with some tactics.

Time Bomb is, I am told, actually decent if you have invisibility and also have trip mines, because you can do insane amounts of damage to a spawn with it. That said, it's still sorta lame. My thought for fixing it would be to make it a ranged placement instead of an at-your-feet placement, so even people without full invisibility can use it.

Possible fix for CD: Make it grant, in and of itself, something closer to invisibility, or stealth which suppresses less (possibly which simply doesn't suppress), or a ranged defense bonus.

And yes, lower endurance cost, etc., on Gun Drone.

Heck, simple summary: Recognize that ED changed the game, and update /dev to match the new world, since it's only been a couple of years.

I got one the other day! Someone I'd argued with not only apologized me, but gleemailed me a recipe I'd been griping about not being able to find for sale.

Actually, it's not particularly novel. It's a very effective way to increase the pool of friends. As long as the way you treat friends isn't bad enough to make them non-friends, it works pretty well.
  23. I sorta like that. I really love AE stories, and I would not mind levelling through it, but it's such a pain to sort past all the !@*#!#ing farms.
  24. I have been told, by people wiser than myself, that Tough actually only gives resistance to smashing/lethal, and as such, is widely regarded as a low-down dirty liar.

I imagine, though, that they will happily give me a complete refund of all the money I've never paid them if I complain.

See, that's good customer service. I merely consider the question of complaining, and immediately every penny I've paid is refunded. You can't get that kind of service from software you pay for.
