did you check the full quote? it mentions arcs like maria jenkins arc and harvy naylor, but for lore, yeah a lot of it was hidden behind the tf's. furthermore, as sam mentioned, striga, cro, and the hollows did culminate either in a tf or trial. heroes also could only fight the 4 lieutenants and recluse only by the stf, a lucky dar doing safeguards or pvp. i get yoursentiment though, and agree that lgtf does feel kind of anticlimactic after you finished the solo arc(i had mentioned that as a case of a good solo storyline) you have pretty much blunted hro and foiled you know who.
  2. well, sam kind of answered his own question with the question of big time events relying on larger scale encounters to fully feel like it was a major event, but i dont think the situation is as bad as you say, in fact it feels more like it is going in the opposite direction. in the early game, to fight pretty much anyone who was significant in the coh lore you had to run task forces or do arcs where they spawned as av's. then we got the av to eb patch, then the rwz had you able to fight the leader of the entire rikti invasion in the regular stuff, and now the beginning of the incarnate stuff has you taking a steel chair to the entire a-list of coh. including ruularu.

    An "I Quit" Post

I'll admit, given the friendly, casual nature the game had for the last 6 years, i was looking forward to endgame and the personality conflicts that it often brings about as much as unrestricted all-zone pvp with permadeath. but so far posi has taken a path that is still doable without me needing to update my resume, so i'm cautiously enthused about it.
  4. but..who is going to get my giant robo references now?

    An "I Quit" Post

well, i was quitting the forums..that didnt really work out well. yeah i19 is nice, i really dont have the reactive "i quit" reflex because my thrifty side keeps getting the 14 month things(signed up for the third one a bit ago), so its just around 10 bucks a month, but i'm now here till late 2012. that said, glad you stayed.

oh, a funny video i found. the audio to tes over the mass effect 3 trailer. starts of just kind of working..but then it really works. i guess epic adventure trailers kind of have a similar flow. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=li5aD...layer_embedded
  7. finished woody allen's "getting even". not as thoughtful as "without feathers" nor as funny as "side effects". still enjoyable but the weakest of the 3.

ah, i watched that, was not impressed, the ssx series has been about fun, bright colored and goofy characters, and i really liked it, only "extreme sports" game i enjoyed., but the realistic look does not really seem a good fit to me. maybe they will pull it out, but if it were me, i'd have gone for crazy colorful and stylized(big surprise, i know) make it stand out.

i wish we could have these kinds of threads, but yeah, me3 is great...but, as anyone knows my pants exploding news was tes 5, i'd have prefered akavir to skyrim, but i will take it, the chanting was suitably epic in the trailer, im already ready to go nuts. the fact tht this year will have a zelda too is just the icing on the vial of addicitve narcotic substances..please dont stink.

now to finish my love fest, finish beyond good and evil 2, and i will transcend my humanity.

honestly, in preference to the old "stealth the whole damn thing and be done in 10 mins" i'm a great deal more of a fan of "kill most" i play this game to beat things up, not to run spreadsheets of rewards per minute. personal time constraints have kept me from partaking of most of the fun, but next week on i look forward to seeing the new tf situation. if nothing else, getting a tf has become a great deal easier. so i'm quite happy recently.

    ATs and Genders

i have a female crab as well, the backpack actually looks pretty good on the body type.
  14. more than that, he was an active practitioner in multiple combat styles, eastern and western.
  15. personally, time, nothing the devs can do there really, a lot of new stuff was added, so with the reduced free time i have, i have to prioritize, and lore/canon stuff trumps non lore.

    ATs and Genders

i thought i had more males as melees and more females as ranged or buffer characters, but a quick look at the numbers really doesn't bear it out. its more really that i like playing certian at's so there are too few tanks, stalkers, trollers and blasters to draw anything out of and so many scrapps, defenders, brutes and doms that it becomes a data overload. i made only female veats, and only a male kheld, but again, small numbers dont give much data. the one tendency i have is to avoid making "finesse" based female melee characters, that is a trope that is pretty well worn with stuff like alias, buffy and serenity, so if i have a female who mixes it up in close combat, i tend to dodge the trope and make them heavy smashers. i do have only female defenders, i guess there is that, though my corrs are mostly male.

i add the usual caveat that most of my females look human, whereas my males are usually monsters, so you could see some flexibility with gender roles there, men may be from mars, but where are trolls, angels, dragons and robots from? (yes, i know giving genders to robots is cheating, but most have some biological component that makes them one or the other) they tend to come from concepts themselves so they have their own themes that are independent of specific gender roles.

ok, my mind is now trying to think of a good mash-up of superhero themed songs, something with bonnie tyler's " i need a hero" maybe and..suggestions, i don't mash up well outside of my driving history.

Partially due to their stereotypical love of superheroes I'm sure, but mostly because they spent so many years being picked on and such they know how people would feel if they wronged someone later on down the road and know quite well how it feels to be wronged. Stuff like this to things as "ridiculous" as those real-life superheroes show that.

    It's pretty damn cool, IMO.
that is how i see it too. we pick on each other as a manner of in-group regulation, when we see one of our own (or any outsider really) picked on, a lot of us can empathize and feel motivated to act. i'd even add to your superheros, a lot og game characters, particularly in the nes/snes days were selfless and self sacrificing, not saying any cause and effect relationship, but behaviors and adaption are based on a thousand little experiences that generate our learning. a lot of us grew up with it in the back of our heads that we wanted to be " a bad enough dude to save the president". you could also look at factors like education and affluence, a lot of nerds are well educated and work in the tech industry, but i dont have the data at hand to support that as a fact, so lets put that as speculation there. but yeah, when you were put down by someone bigger, it feels good to help someone who is small when you are the bigger one.

well, my hope (unsubstantiated currently) is that he will be the gateway to expanded shard content for villains. he clearly is linked to rularru, whom you clearly help at the end of the arc. so currently i see him as a stub, and i suspect a callback once the "coming storm" hits. also, for villains that really want to feel nasty, he is pretty villainous without being bossy.

lame joke aside, generally a polite request should precede any action like this, and i would never kick anyone from a team for something so trivial. but everyone has different preferences and likely the team wouldnt have been a fun experience anyhow, so they mostly saved you the trouble of dealing with them.

Ramiel's Arc to open the Alpha Slot was a foundation that should be built upon instead of becoming an important but isolated mission.

In real life, I am the father of two grown kids and the proud grandfather of two wonderful children. I raised my kids with purpose and direction and they are succeed in life and the work place.

Imagine how those kids would have turned out if, at every important point in their life, I rolled the dice and solely allowed RNG processes to determine their fate. Progressing in the Incarnate System is no less important to this game than how the rearing of children is to their futures. We want those future Incarnates to be skilled, tested and proven worthy to claim the title and the huge reliance on RNG processes that is in place now is NOT the way to achieve that goal.
ok, heres the deal, the rng just isnt there to distribute reward but also to prevent it. we get exploits, a lot, every game does, but if the game is set up to give a cookie every time someone presses a button, then someone is going to crack the button, get cookies tot he point of absurdity, break any meaning of the system and turn the whole thing into a joke, it happens, rng helps hold that back a bit, turning the system into something called an intermittent schedule of rewards. in behavioral sciences this is a preferable reward setting because the uncertainty of rewards actually reinforces a conditioned behavior, whereas the direct rewards system(ok not remembering the exact terminology on that one) leads to satiation and fatigue. in layman's terms, they get bored because there is no surprise or chance of a big payoff.

so yeah, beyond the incredible absurdity of people's continual assertion that being able to game a fairly simple mechanic of a video game demonstrates any kind of real "skill" there are significant design issues that the rng is being used to alleviate. i am forced to find your argument unconvincing.

i do like your idea of the incarnate tip missions, but just because i would love to see the lore fleshed out more by them, realistically i do not see it happening.
  24. well, i'm always glad when a system is well received. strength to the game keeps the servers up for me to keep playing, so its good that things seem to be going over well. now for the fun bit, keeping them happy.
