Quote:Certainly would like it. I just think it's a bit awkward still.Personally, I'd like to see a Judgement power for at least every MAJOR weapon class, like one for cutting weapons, one for smashing weapons, one for bare hands, one for rifles and one for pistols. That's, what? Five? Yeah, I know it's a lot to ask for and I know it still lacks certain specific things, like a Judgement for a finesse fighter or one for dual blades, or one for a Devices user and so forth, but my point is that I want to see Judgement powers for characters who don't glow with eldritch power, so to speak.
I think slashing makes a good argument with it. With weapons, it just increases the number of animations needed for power, not necessarily really a 'bad thing', just a 'thing'. Slashing I think being a good example as you have to decide how to manage Dual Blades. Do you have the 'Sword' epic judgement be just a single blade? And then the stylistic issue of the difference between Broadsword and Katana. Although thinking, I suspect that 'Swords' are the only ones where that is really a problem. Although bare hands/unarmed would also be a bit awkward since, for instance, Super Strength and Martials Arts are very different styles.
Ranged weapon effects I imagine would be easy, although I suspect that you'll still see some 'issue' crop up with Energy weapon versus physical weapon for the 'projectile'. One thing that I think you would have to add for your 'minimal' weapon-based judgement is Archery though.
Quote:This kind of stance is a little depressing, to be honest. It asserts that customization in particular and visuals in general constitute "relatively little reward" if they don't carry numbers with them, and that the only way for a change to be truly meaningful and worth the cost of investment is for it to have a numbers-wise gameplay benefit. It also speaks very ill of power customization as a general concept, which is a notion that stands to ruin the fun of the game for me. -
I think it's recommended 4 blues + breakfire to 'catch' back up after a splat. In any case, realizing I could buy insps at the hospital helped reduce my chain-dying time in Lam.

Agreed with folks needing to learn the real point of locking teams
.
On the perceived functionality, I believe the Open/Closed league system coming out in incarnates ascend should address that desire. Although I suspect folks will like to stay open for the buff. -
Quote:Void may be able to work, you'd have to hand-wave some explanation for it though. Or go the whole lame sword cuts with the vacuum it creates silliness. I would really like to see weapon based judgements though. Even something as 'simple' as a Hammer strike [Thor!]. I imagine they may be difficult to develop in a manner that's flexible without introducing a judgement style for every given weapon however. But can hope.Incidentally, I face a similar quandary as you do regarding Incarnate powers (or would if unlocking them weren't such a grind), in that not all of my characters make sense to shoot lightning from their fingertips or throw great balls of fire. The aforementioned Kat/SR Scrapper that I have would make much more sense if his Incarnate powers manifested as exceptionally powerful sword attacks, or as literal guns, but that's not an option. I'm not sure it ever will be. And that's the easy part. For this guy, it makes no sense for him to have a "pet." I designed him before I even heard about City of Heroes, and I designed him as a loner. That's one of his defining characteristics. To get him a transparent robot with boobs is just... Wrong.
So, again, I can definitely see your point. I just think the game works either way.
Lore, may be manageable for you with the Robotic Drones. It's still suboptimal, and probably doesn't fit your concept either, but they're a lot less obtrusive. -
I've seen fails for Cut-Scene ninjas walking the wrong way. Really annoying that. Tactical fails, usually only see that happen if the group as a majority doesn't attack Marauder at the same time, and even then it was only 'near fail' and we've recovered. Although I can certainly see a full fail coming from it.

Quote:Hmm, I swore that I fought Siege in the Destroy all evidence of portal software mission. Then again I'm not willing to run it again it to verify. As far as story arcs go, the revamp actually made it worse. Before the revamp, you had to do both Tina's arc and Maria's arc to get every Praetorian AV needed. Since the revamp, you need to do both arcs, and find some other means of getting Siege, as he doesn't appear in either of the actual story arcs. Siege does appear in a standalone mission from Maria.
A lot of people would just rather do them through Ouroboros, from what I've encountered, probably to avoid the extraneous missions from both of the contacts if you do them naturally. Those people now also either have to go through the old Maria arc up to the point where you fight Siege, or go through the current Maria missions to get the standalone one that has Siege in it, possibly being pushed into running the arc again in order to get to that mission. They could also get Siege through a successful BAF, and will probably soon be able to get Anti-Matter credit from the Keyes Island Reactor trial. -
Quote:Personally, I suspect it's a case of the system being extremely 'costly' to try to adapt in any meaningful way, so they get left with the situation that it's better to start over, and there's a lot of issues should they go that route. It's not that they don't care because they do. They were amongst the first to applaud the community for finding new and clever ways to decorate bases. Granted it's all due to bugs but theyre good bugs.
The tech that makes basebuilding possible is very complicated and I'm not sure all the knowledge sharing that needed to happen when Zeb Cook left actually happened. It's likely not everyone is ready to go tinkering with base tech which automatically makes it low priority before developing other content first. I think we will see new decorative options in bases (wallpaper, furniture, and theme additions) but the days of base raids are probably over - even if they improve PvP.
Hope always springs eternal though. -
Quote:That attitude is one that's in stark contrast to the ideals of MMOs in general. If it is unchanging, it is dead.Samuel,
I know I am not the most coherent person to read so i'll just bullet point what i mean/want.
Personally I prefer to keep things as is. This is simply what i would like.
This game was developed one way for a reason, although that reason is probably lost to time it still existed. So these (mostly) new devs changing summat other ppl did would be an insult (to me if it were my original creation) the quote from harry potter seems apt here. "progress for progress sake must be discouraged" -

Quote:Toon was an awesome game. Partly because it was a RPG that my parents didn't associate with the fear mongering 700 club/Egbert incident so I got to play it.Heh. I'm usually the one railing against the horrendous use of weapons, explosives, and tactical operations in video games with friends in real life, but I just don't see the point here. The genre's so cram packed with the ridiculous that its virtually become a requirement. It'd be like protesting the lack of realistic physics in a Loony-Toons game....

Prolly the same reason someone wouldn't consider A Hero's Hero wouldn't be seen as a TF. It's more of a story-arc that utilizes the Task Force system to fix levels.

Quote:Except Pocket D links to Praetoria. You can have two arguments to suppose against that, one is the meta-game aspect which is simply admitting it's a meta-solution and best not to think about it, or that DJ Zero is more intimidating than Primal Earth.I suppose the developers could argue that, while Pocket D is friendly to being connected via private interdimensional portal, having the same thing to Praetoria is just inviting a bunch of Warwalkers to come in, rifle through your drawers, bust up your stuff and leave the refridgerator door open while you're not home.
I tend to learn towards the first, which does make a good point that supergroup bases would quite likely break that suspension more blatantly. -
Quote:I believe that option exists solely to allow you to color the Fur separate from the rest of the outfit. Tad bit confusing though, I'll admitMagic Bolero is another unique female option, but I don't think its a stripperish one. My main confusion about this option has always been that it actually has a "Shoulder Fur" option, and that option has only one choice: "Fur." Well, ok.

Quote:I have it on reasonably good authority that the Highlander was actually a documentary shot in real time. [ edit / add ] Bah forgot the rest of joke in my warning. But given that it's a documentary and the events happened in real time, it should be safe!I'd pass long these ideas but I'm pretty sure that if by some chance they made it past initial design the sound of our legal department's heads exploding would be heard here in CA.
[ Warning : Links are to a tv clip that's rated TV: MA ... and earned it ] -
Quote:I believe the situation is customizing pet appearance in that manner results in a significant increase in the data throughput to the other clients when a MM is involved.I honestly don't know. I recall them saying that about letting us customize MM pet outfits like we can our own costumes, or am I misremembering?
Something more similar to alternate pet graphics may well be more 'doable' as it's just an alternate power label. -

I'd send an asteroid on a collision course with the bank.

Hmm, thinking about that, might not be the target audience. -
Quote:It was also usually up on the mmo-media/review rags as one of the criticisms to CoH whenever re-approaching it.When you stop paying your sub, the company assumes you'll be back when you have the money. When you quit, you fill out why you never want to play again despite still having money left on your sub. It's srz.
Many of those people never bothered to even read the forums, much less make ragequit posts.
I miss the funny. :'(
But, mostly, ya, the end-game, and I believe it was also in that survey that came about ~2 years ago. -

Quote:Ya, suffers a bit when the recipe has a different name than the enhancement. Often times feels easier to just browse through both for meYou might already know this, but I didn't for months, so...
If you drop a recipe in WW and click 'find', so that the recipe name pops up in the search bar, you can then use the up and down arrow keys to move through the nearby recipe/enhancement names to find the enhancement you want. You're still suffering from the illogical naming issues, but it helps a lot.. Doesn't mean that it is, just feels like it.

Well, with the market ui, I'd really like an option to quick check cost of the recipe/enhancement [as appropriate]. Would kind of nice. Perhaps even a lazy way to right click a recipe in your inventory to search for it [instead of dragging it over the storage]. Not a big deal mind you, just small qol things.
I'd really like to be able to mail multiple enhancements at the same time, when I'm making enhs for alts or whatnot, it's really annoying to stare at the 15s timer. -
Some consolation at least you can get incidental Overseers in Villain tip missions at 50. That said, it's not much of a consolation I'm sure. I'd probably be more likely to switch to Rogue for a romp in the Shard to fix the problem now.
