Snakes in space...
Vortex randomly appearing in a mission
I have more but too lazy to go digging. -
Quote:I posted what I was told by Mod 08. I'd be more then happy to screen cap my PM if you want. What's going on is that when you goto the control panel under the uploader it specifies a limit of 600x120. Now, we don't know if that's actually what the "rule" is because nothing's been posted, but that's the only mention anywhere of a limit. When you use [img] tags though they don't care about the limit because you're not using the uploader.
What he told me specifically was 600x120
Mod 08 sez:
Quote:If you could please modify your sig so it fits in a 600x120 box, I would be much appreciative.
As a note I was using [img] tags and hotlinking to my own server. The uploader doesn't even work as far as I remember. -

Quote:Thanks, though really most of the credit has to go to Cyphre. He makes some amazing graphics and logos. I'm just the code jockey.Amazing work on the page and the SG.
I'm fairly new to the server, and I soooo have to look you guys up.
Feel free though to check us out, we're always open to new people joining us. -
I'm going to voice what a few others have. I've been running CoX in vista 64 home premium since October of last year with almost no issues. Make sure you're running in admin mode. The only lingering weirdness I have is that I can't do a UI screenshot in the game now with ctrl+shift+prtscrn. But really thats minor and Gadwin Print screen fixed that problem for me.
For anyone getting crashes with NVidia in Cox there is a fix for it. Check out this thread, it has details on the hotfix for this issue.
Well or upgrade your drivers.
Personally speaking I'll take Vista over XP any day, I go to work each day and grumble at XP. -
Actually I'm getting more amusement myself out of what people are tagging posts with and how many I can agree with.
I personally find the whole rep/karma additions to forums amusing. You can't actually hurt someone by giving them bad rep. I'm sure eventually I'll post something that makes people angry so my green dots becomes red. Its the way of the world. -
I started playing with CoV, my boyfriend had been playing since the beginning of CoH. I had two fairly funny noob moments early on in CoV.
First one was while I was playing my fire/fire brute. My BF comes up behind me and notices I'm using TP Foe to pulling people from mob instead of rushing in. He asks what I'm doing and I tell him flatly, its too hard to fight them all at once. Its at this point he also realizes that my level 8 brute is fighting mobs conning orange and red.
He asks then if I had increased my difficulty. I said no, not that I know of. He checks my mission listing and sure enough its set to Relentless. He asks me again and I insist no I hadn't. He then asked if I had talked to a Fateweaver and I said yep and when she asked how my characters reputation I said she's definitely Relentless. I hadn't read what the fateweaver was actually doing I just though it was a cool title.
The second one was a bit later I'd switched from the brute to leveling up a bot/dark MM. I was having a easier time at it and was in my 20's at this point. My BF comes to check on why I'm cursing at my computer. I tell him that the thing I'm fighting is taking forever to kill, but its just about to die finally. He asks what and low and behold I'm fighting an Archvillian Barracuda. I believe the conversation went like this.
BF: "What... you're suppose to fight them with a team!"
Me: "What really? Huh... WOO SHE'S DEAD!"
BF: *boggles* "How long did that take you...?"
Me: *looks at clock* "Urm 40 minutes. I died once."
See the thing is the whole AVs being EBs when you're set to a lower diff hadn't been added at that point. I had no concept of what a Archvillian or Hero was, I just thought it was like a epic boss fight in a game. And at the time I wasn't a fan of teaming with people except my BF, social butterfly I was not. -
-
Well at least now its trying to apply a new patch it seems.
*crosses fingers* -
Quote:What are you talking about! That would be awesome for about 5 seconds until I died.Shhhh! Don't give the devs any idea. The Titans now are are current bad enough. I don't want to worry about a "Death from Above" from a Zeus Titan.
Then I'd promptly get angry and hosp then go beat them up. >_> -

I'll show off mine even though it wasn't my own creation. Cyphre makes these for SCORPIO members.
Though I have to bug him for the PSD so I can change it some so its not quite so tall. The rest he's done are on our site, Signature Banners. -
Quote:Likewise. The only image-related vulnerabilities I can think of offhand have been patched in Windows, and don't work with web-standard images (gif, png, jp(e)g)
Though apparently its some ultra awesome sekret exploit none of us have ever heard of.
Internetz, ph3ar r pix.
That said I have seen a lot of really interesting/cool sigs so far. -
Again. If you feel its a risk turn them off.
Personally I like seeing what people come up with, sure some are eye melting but some are really good and its much more interesting to look at then just plain text. But thats my 2 cents.
Personally I haven't seen anything regarding image files being a risk since like 2006 and that was only with Windows XP Sp1. But again never had a problem.
Now video files, thats a whole nother story. -
-
Quote:Agreed, the real problem is most people just don't know the modify and shrink their stuff down. This needs to be sorted, allowing uploaded images and not allowing manual img tags in signature blocks.
My sig was originally a PNG, ran around about 146KB, not horribly large, and on our SG forums it was fine. But I just popped it into Photoshop and converted it to a Gif 128, lost a tiny bit of quality, had to give it a matte close to the forum background, but the result is a image thats 44kb rather then 146kb.
In photoshop, save for web & devices is your friend. -
Yeah the lag/mapserving at this current moment is ridiculous. Its killed out team, you literally can't do anything.

Urm, ok so maybe this is just me.
I can't seem to get the signature image to work. It seems to upload, doesn't give me any error but doesn't display on the preview. I also can't seem to hotlink to one on my host...
I've tried a PNG and a GIF... is this perhaps limited to jpg only? If so thats kinda lame.
png > jpg
And yes it was smaller then the specified sizes in both respects.
>_>
Also the limiting to only five lines of text in the signature seems odd too. I mean my current Sig isn't long but its apparently too long for the current requirements. -

I don't see it being feasible to change sides without leaving your supergroup.
[/ QUOTE ]
That's how I see it too.
Plus, we SHOULD have to leave our group. I mean, a hero base is usually a publicly known place. If a hero turns into a villain, he would have to go into hiding (lair) or be arrested, right?
In my mind, this shouldn't even be a question...switch sides, get in a new SG/VG. It makes total sense to me.
[/ QUOTE ]
Except for SG/VGs that aren't specific heroic or villainous. More then a few "Neutral" groups exist. Most of my characters that will be side switching will be doing so merely to let me play ATs that aren't hero ATs. But its feasible a hero may side switch to merely gain access to the isles and work against the villains from the inside.
Or vice versa for a villain in Paragon.
Its not really so black and white, and personally I'd rather seen a system that allows a whole SG to take on a specific type be it heroic, neutral or villainous.
