/agree with EVERYTHING above, that idea is awesomez.

Humm i don't agree with all of this as it could lead to more elitism and alienation and make some of the worst excess of pvp more prevalent. It would be better to help those who have difficulties in pvp than give rewards to those that simply don't need them, why not give those that do well more of a challenge.
  2. Well not to worry, i think the reply from someone talking about your own attitude whilst in the pvp zones was good and its surprising how quickly human emotion can change. My main point was really less about the players themselves but more about the situation they find themselves in and how they then perceive their own and other peoples reactions to it.

I guess for me maybe i have actually mentally out grown some of these zones although the alts i play haven't physically done so yet which is only naturally gonna lead to some frustration along the line somewhere.

But i still do feel that in pvp people must take on broadly the responsibilities of their own actions like in the case above, if you take a risk and attack someone that person is naturally gonna use what is at their disposal to defend themselves, be that attack back, run, use a mez or the terrain and mobs found in it. I guess the moral would be to know your enemy first and don't assume they are not gonna defend themselves the best and maybe the only way they know.
  3. I pvp quite a lot and have teamed with most people that post on this forum at sometime, and have seen some really bad things and to be honest when pvp started had done some bad things too, but today i was gobsmacked. I took 2 of my friends into the zone (Sirens) so they could get their badges i explained that we could be attacked we could get killed and at worst me may never get the badges tonight, neither of them had pvped before, well we got off to a start by getting the 2 closest badges to the villain base and we were attacked we died fair enough so we regroup and start to buff ourselves when an illusion controller comes in and starts confusing the mobs around us, this is all within seconds of us entering the zone, so as this controller was confusing the npc to attack us i cast a spell that disoriented him to stop him doing it where by the other npcs attack him, only to get on broadcast a tell telling us not to attack them whilst they are near the npc (confusing them i may add). My first thoughts are well if they wanna take the risk of casting powers whilst around enemy npcs then they themselves are gonna have to be responsible for any possible debt that they get from those actions. That debt is not the responsibility of the person who is defending themself from a possible attack from friendly fire. When i explained this to the controller he then pointed out that we where camping in the base lol when in truth we had only just got into the zone DOH......... Any way whilst all this was going on in broad cast my fellow team mates managed to get the badges that were farther away from the villain base whilst the hero's camped it not realizing we where actually nearer to the hero base than our own. Anyway i really wanted to introduce my 2 friends to pvp but the experience left a bitter taste in all our mouths, which is a shame as i have had many hours fun in Sirens and was hoping others could experience the same as i have been lucky enough to have done.

I just wish people would take responsibility for their own actions and the possible results that that action could lead to , be it a cool kill or a failed disaster where by you yourself end up getting debt and not land it on the plate on some innocent that 1) maybe just defending them selves and 2) may not have the power to kill you off with out NPC help anyway.

    Sonic sets

HI , I have been playing a Sonics/Sonic corrupter from the start of CoV being live and she is 28 now and still my main on the villians side. I picked this set as i knew nothing about it wanted to play something different and didnt wanna play the standard /thermal sets that i could see everybody going for.

Most the the powers i pick, i pick purely on gut reaction and on how my alt was coping at the time, i did a little research but came up with little that could help.

Anyway i find her very average either solo or teamed but the fun i do get from her is her ability to be flexible in teams and i love her the most when she is filling in for the "controller/dominater role" but thats just me.

Things that annoy me about her are the long animations, -acc at the low lvls which she is now coming out of, long recharge times, and heavy use of end again im hoping that as she goes up in lvl she will start to lose these traits a bit.

Powers that i love are all the blast powers including howl, i tend to find i dont get much aggro from it as i have quite a long attack chain and by the time i cast howl well it just finishes them all off but again it aint a power i use while i solo.I have also found her an excellent puller being able to pull bosses out of the middle of mobs without aggroing everything around it using the first power in her secondary set, cant remember its name sorry.

Power i hate has to be disruption field cool for Brutes but for me lol, it eats end like nothing i have ever come across causes travel supression on me whilst the reciever is in with the mobs and in one case caused the mob to turn its aggro on me, its gonna be the first power i will drop in a respec.

Overall my experience with playing her has been mixed but im still hoping she will begin to shine in the last half of her career or maybe even in PvP who knows.
  5. ah just tested it again and nope didnt get any supression in PvE guess it must be the same for PvP too, not sure what i was experiecing before . Maybe i notice supression more as i get it alot because i run repel alot in PvP and once siphon speed has gone its repel that causing the slow down due to unseen stalkers pinging of it lol
  6. Oh ! maybe i have a bug then as i tested it in both PvP and in PvE and both times my travel power speed was reduce as i tried to move way directly after casting an attack power
  7. Hi agree with most of what you have said but you say siphon speed doesnt suffer from supression, well i pvp alot and use siphon speed alot yet i still get supression, not so sure about PvE but will test this out.

I was wondering if anybody else can confirm this from PvP thxs

Ok have read through the replies and as expected most are just plain unhelpful not all tho and others just a waste of a read as they clearly dont help ppl problem solve the situation they r in and are more interested in self promoting the stalkers public relations. So i have done some research and found a list of controller powers that can help some alts and their are 2 powers i personally can use on my alt

CONTOLER---CLEAR MIND (if u are teaming use this on your allies, this power + goggles will help a lot with stalkers),PERSONAL FORCE FIELD (if u are not attaking this is your best friend),REPULSION FIELD,FORCE BUBBLE,REPEL,CHOKING CLOUD,CLARITY (+Perseption Power),HURRICANE,QUICKSAND,EARTHQUAKE,HOT FEET,SINGULARITY (Try to stay close to your pet),ARTIC AIR,ICE SLICK,SPECTRAL TERROR(Same as SINGULARITY),SONIC REPULSION (put it on a team mate,blaster/defender/controler,and stay close to him)

So it looks like I am able to start building a strategy that includes some form of pvp action other than running around the zone like a loony popping acc pills like there was no tororrow just simple to survive let alone actually hit anything.Hope some other readers find this small list helpful.

    Well done!

Got your own thread, got your own help, now go and test it all and go post a guide for us!

    In the mean time....

    NERF BLASTERS!!!
    UBER UP DEFENDER DAMAGE!!!
BAN CONTROLLERS!!! (I'm not playing one)
MAKE DOMINATOR HOLDS EQUAL CONTROLLERS (I am playing one)

  10. HI i actually agree with the first post, im a controller with very similar experences.

I too am having problems with respecing my controller to solely deal with stalkers, i dont have to respec for any other alt except them. As for claims that controllers are all overpowered i find funny as with my controller i definately dont feel that at all, i think what some of these ppl are saying is some controllers have a better time with avoiding A/S than others as not all controllers are storm controllers.Yet all stalkers have hide placate and A/S.
For me the jury was out on whether stalkers are overpowered or not but over the last few days reading the many post and comparing them with my own experiences, im beginning to come down on the side or "guilty as charge me lord"
  11. If a perfect world and pvp zone were well balanced with all alt types in it i would target MMs, Corruptors, then Dominators first as they tend to be the easiest to kill, but in the real world pvp zones tend to be filled with Brutes or stalkers. As the chances of me being able to even target a stalker is slim that just leaves Brutes. If i do find any of the other 3 alts it feels like christmas day has arrived and off i trot to pick up my prezzies

    PAs and PvP

Am a bit confused myself now as the reason i ask was because whilst in bloody bay i was confused { not me personally but my alt} whilst my PAs where out when i looked at them their names they where no longer the normal green i usely see them in but orange so clearly they became a target for me but was wandering do i them become a target for them. Hope that made sense.
  13. HI just thought i would add my experience too with regard stalkers and PvP. I try to play a pvp zone each night and have had varying experience some like yesterday evening were just brilliant others more often than not like the opening poster experience.

More often than not i play a very squishy controller and have learnt to survive using some of the tricks laid out by other posters on this thread with regards to avioding stalkers and only sometimes they work for example to keep moving yup it works but the down side is 1, its mentally draining and after 5mins of constant movement u begining to get bored 2, as u are constantly moving u get to see no action, so i end up leaving the zone altogher. Other counter moves like insp for example also have faults.

As for A/S i have only been 1 hit killed once with all my encounters with stalkers which makes me question whether or not that A/S is actualy overpowered but that said a zone which is filled predominately with stalkers is just a complete nightmare. One will A/S u another will run in and hit u a second time if u have survived that and not disoriented still another will run in a hit again all this happening and u cant do a thing about it. The stalkers call their main power and one trick pony but i have to question that when sometimes u can go into a pvp zone and this one trick doesnt happen to u once or twice but well into double figures after that for me pvp becomes corupted as it is no longer pvp but p v stalker something my controller just doesnt have the power to deal with effectively.

In short stalkers seem to be victims of their own success as players like me tend to scout around a zone first if i see too many stalkers we just leave as theres no point in staying just to be a bit of meat in a slaughter yard.

    PAs and PvP

Hi thxs for your answer, i didnt know about spectral terror being able to be confused thats well cool but anyway with PAs and illusions powers in general and brutes fury, once say spectral wounds wears off the target, in this case the brute, will heal back a % of its health does this mean as the damage was imaginary that they then lose a % of their fury. Also as Brutes build fury with every attack miss or hit doesnt that mean controllers like illusionist who use pets to great damage r kinda sealing their own fate by casting such pets onto a brute. If u think about it one on one an illusion controller casting PAs against a brute r in fact creating 4 targets {3 PAs plus self} all hitting a brute and all making him stronger.

As for stalkers they seem to be the most dominant alt in the pvp zones, and it seems i am gonna have to respec my ill/kin to deal solely with this 1 alt type which is a real shame and even after respec she still wouldnt be as secure against stalkers as other controllers are

    non PvP AT's

LOL i took my invun scapper into bloody bay last week and had 3 stalkers try to A/S me, well all i can say is that it felt like a bit of gnats [censored] to her. Although I think the stalkers where as shocked as i was that she just stood there and took it.

    PAs and PvP

I play my ill/kin a bit in PvP but was wondering about how PAs affect certain alts like,

Stalkers, do PAs see throw their hide and does placate affect PAs?

Brutes, do PAs add to a Brutes fury every time they hit the target?

Once u as a controller have been confused can u be attacked by ur own PAs?

Hope someone is able to answer as im trying to build a strategy when confonted with these alts and the use of PAs. Thxs
  17. I have never posted on these boards before as i have never really felt the need, but today in the pvp zones i was gobsmacked. In both bloody bay and sirens, there where groups of heroes and villians who seemed to be fighting it out, only the heroes getting the upper hand generally, when what appears to be a ceasefire breaks out. However, nobody informs me, so i continue in the normal manner of hunting down my victim when all hell breaks out cos i have actually attacked a villian. I stopped attacking because i was so taken aback!! I thought i must have been in a non pvp zone the way ppl where creating. And then to get shouted at because of doing what is natural in this zone is ridiculous.

My point is surely a pvp zone is just that, an area where u can fight against other players, not a place to have a chat with ur friends be they hero or other villians as u are sending out mixed signals!! If u dont wanna be attacked dont go in there in the first place!!?
