My worst experience in PvP so far

I pvp quite a lot and have teamed with most people that post on this forum at sometime, and have seen some really bad things and to be honest when pvp started had done some bad things too, but today i was gobsmacked. I took 2 of my friends into the zone (Sirens) so they could get their badges i explained that we could be attacked we could get killed and at worst me may never get the badges tonight, neither of them had pvped before, well we got off to a start by getting the 2 closest badges to the villain base and we were attacked we died fair enough so we regroup and start to buff ourselves when an illusion controller comes in and starts confusing the mobs around us, this is all within seconds of us entering the zone, so as this controller was confusing the npc to attack us i cast a spell that disoriented him to stop him doing it where by the other npcs attack him, only to get on broadcast a tell telling us not to attack them whilst they are near the npc (confusing them i may add). My first thoughts are well if they wanna take the risk of casting powers whilst around enemy npcs then they themselves are gonna have to be responsible for any possible debt that they get from those actions. That debt is not the responsibility of the person who is defending themself from a possible attack from friendly fire. When i explained this to the controller he then pointed out that we where camping in the base lol when in truth we had only just got into the zone DOH......... Any way whilst all this was going on in broad cast my fellow team mates managed to get the badges that were farther away from the villain base whilst the hero's camped it not realizing we where actually nearer to the hero base than our own. Anyway i really wanted to introduce my 2 friends to pvp but the experience left a bitter taste in all our mouths, which is a shame as i have had many hours fun in Sirens and was hoping others could experience the same as i have been lucky enough to have done.

I just wish people would take responsibility for their own actions and the possible results that that action could lead to , be it a cool kill or a failed disaster where by you yourself end up getting debt and not land it on the plate on some innocent that 1) maybe just defending them selves and 2) may not have the power to kill you off with out NPC help anyway.

I think this is kinda weird they warn you for PvP zones people can do what they want even if you get debt its your own fault. If you get debt its probably because you ran away and got killed by an NPC. DONT RUN THAN just get killed by your enemy. Just like people moaning about Stalkers: "ZOMG [censored] PUT OFF TEH <bleep!> HIDE ITS NOT FAIR!!!!11". Stalkers got Hide because they assassinate that is what they do. If you get attacked by someone in PvP and you dont like that and you cant take him on alone call some friends to help you.

Well if he cast confuse and it backfired, he deserved his debt. You cant expect to do stuff like that, which personally I find unfair in pvp as to me pvp is playing against each other, not stuff like this or tping into drones etc.

But to have a go after his actions caused his death is a bit childish. Were you on when the schoolkids were on? Or was it just an immature adult?

Hehe give me a match against someone who enjoys pvp for what it is supposed to be rather than these pratts with nothing better to do than try to get people debt.

Served him right!!

Wow, that's weird. I had a similar experience tonight.

Some group tried to gank me while I was going for the Tsoo badge in SC ; I dropped their MM and made their cor run away, then the stalker tried to run toward some mobs (so my debuffs would aggro something on me before he'd get back into Hide, I suppose - I'm a rad defender) after he AS'ed so I used a web grenade on him. While trying to get the kill on him, I get teleported away (by the corruptor).

The stalker went crazy on broadcast, saying I was stupid, retarded and lame for using an immobilize so close to the mobs, that he could have got debt... Excuse me sir, *your* team tried to gank me while I wasn't here to pvp, *you* ran into the mobs instead of standing still and fighting, *your* friend tp'ed me away instead of letting me get the kill...

(Don't get me wrong, I don't care about those things individually, but to complain on broadcast about something you got yourself into doesn't get much sympathy from me.)

There's some people I'll never understand.

I don't even bother looking at the chat in PvP zones.

I go in, I kill/be killed, and I leave.

This kind of attitude is becoming more and more tempting to me, but unfortunately, the banter and the talk is one of the reasons I go there..

Love/hate affair I guess.

I find it hilarious whenever I die by NPC mobs in a PvP zone. As it's usually done along these lines:

Me: "Attack!" *attacks villain/hero*
Attackee: "Gah! Attack!" *attacks me*
Me: *running low on health* "Run!" *runs*
Attackee: *chases*
Me: *runs straight into a mob of Arachnos drones with Invincibility running*
Attackee: *does same*
Me: *faceplants*
Attackee: *faceplants*
Me + Attackee: LOL!

I think it all depends on the attitude you go in with, rather than the attitudes of others. If you're determined to have a good time, regardless of debt/morons, you will. As long as you know the dangers of the zone, it doesn't matter how many times you're abused because some other fool hadn't bothered to check. You can turn around and calmly say, "The mobs will aggro onto you in this zone, regardless of level. The debt's easy to work off, don't fret over it ". If they refuse to listen, they're not going to enjoy PvP and therefore will not continue PvPing for long. Good.

Once we've weeded out all of these types of people, the PvP zones will be much more fun. Of course there'll be an influx of them every few months (when the newbies reach level 15), but the current ones will have gone on to better things, and hopefully these young 'uns will be more prepared to learn.

My advice for you is to go into PvP with the decent people. There are lots of them on Defiant, and a handful on Union; and I'm sure they'll help you if you ask (not giving names here just incase they don't want to be bothered, but you can find most of them in this forum). These people and many more like them are sensible, kind, fun up-for-a-laugh people and will make your PvPing experiences much more exciting.

I simply refuse to let anyone ruin my PvP fun .

I agree that you if you go into the zone and use bots then you must expect increased risk of debt.

But It is a viable tactic, powersets have powers that enable you to manipulate mobs, if you want sterile pvp games then use the arena :P

I did this to someone lastnight in sirens but I dont think it was you because when I died and got debt I didn't complain one bit and I broadcasted that I got debt and deserved it.

all I was trying to do in the first place was frighten the villain off the island and to be honest I think confusing friendly mobs is a valid tactic cause if you think your safe in a group of mobs then you are gonna get a surprise,as long as its not done to get someone debt.

Well not to worry, i think the reply from someone talking about your own attitude whilst in the pvp zones was good and its surprising how quickly human emotion can change. My main point was really less about the players themselves but more about the situation they find themselves in and how they then perceive their own and other peoples reactions to it.

I guess for me maybe i have actually mentally out grown some of these zones although the alts i play haven't physically done so yet which is only naturally gonna lead to some frustration along the line somewhere.

But i still do feel that in pvp people must take on broadly the responsibilities of their own actions like in the case above, if you take a risk and attack someone that person is naturally gonna use what is at their disposal to defend themselves, be that attack back, run, use a mez or the terrain and mobs found in it. I guess the moral would be to know your enemy first and don't assume they are not gonna defend themselves the best and maybe the only way they know.

Hmm... debt gives badge, so why get angry when you get debt?
However - it's kinda annoying for my healers to get the badges in the pvp zone. Even If I try to get my last rockets in warburg early morning, there always seem to be a stalker that... waits for me to get into a fight an stabs me when I'm low on health..
Last time I was there, the #$%&@ even waited until I got held by a NPC... And I'm so frelling easy to kill anyway. ...and that guy have recieved plenty of help from me before.. [ignore list]
...but still, you have to accept that in PvP, even if too many ppl ruin the experience and leave the zones pretty empty. I've learned to never ever one-on-one PvP with anything else than my brute or stalker. As hero I know my controller would be fun for me, but just simply annoying for anyone else...
That means I only PvP in teams with well known people - and that means I rarely PvP...

...and that's sad.

(...and when I do, we're usually 5 against 1)

Big thanks for the idea of introducing Arena in Pocket D so Heroes/villains can meet one-on-one in fair fights.
