Ight well I threw this build together. Maybe this is more up my alley. would like some input. I would say thanks ahead of time, but that got me no where, and don't really want to thank for nothing in advance.

46 views and 0 replys. Either the build is too bad to even touch, or it's half way decent, or no one wants to take the time out... I guess I can tare that build down and rebuild it, see what else I can do.

I created a staying toon for my "Warrior's Mark" concept. It is a multi cultured warrior concept in both gender and origin.
Anyway I was thinking of making it something that could solo AV/Pylons. I figure that a naturally tough warrior, what is more tough than that kind of stuff? Also have it a nice duelist in the arena. DPS is the name of this game, it is why I went with DB. I also like the animations of it It also works with my concept very well.
I went with WP so that way I wouldn't have to worry about redraw (so anoying), and also the concept of it. It is a fire and forget set, that fits the theme.
I have questions on incarnates as well. mainly rebirth v.s. barrier. If I drop T9 on WP side cuz of barrier, and let regen carry me through a fight. Or if rebirth hugh heal/regen would better suit. Not really jazzed on the thought of a bubble being around a natural warrior, however I can give up on astetics for performance.
Also on interface. Probally the best way to go would be reactive. would I get more DPS out of the -res proc, or more DPS over the moderate fire damage?
I will post my build. I didn't really think about all of this when I made it. I would like to have a build with the durability meets DPS. I would prefer a build that wasn't purple IO oriented, cuz my time is about 12 hours a week so I have yet to put anything purple in a toon. If any one like Werner (I use him/her what ever, cuz I know the person is one I remember having vids of AV solo). Any advice would help. I appreciate it.

Just trying to wrap around what I should focus in on while trying to beef up WP. I would really like a link to a guide, but check this build out, tell me what I am doing wrong if I am... [edit] noticed lvl ten is empty that is IW not sure how that one happened.

Quote:I think I might just go scrap. ur comment on that nagging feel of animation locks freaked me out to the brute. ugh.. that and I like scraps alot. I like brutes but chaseing the fury bar gets redundant for me, however that surge of power is nice.. but u made my mind up for me with the animation locks. ugh..I have a DB/WP Brute and like it a lot, but I always had this nagging feeling that the long animations were dragging it down on Fury. It does have great survivability, though. A Scrapper might be better, depending on your attack chain and how much survivability you're willing and able to buy.

Quote:My first scrap is a db/regen/bod. I hated the long animations with regen heals. ugh... use 1kcuts and wind up dead before u can heal :PI have a DB/WP Brute and like it a lot, but I always had this nagging feeling that the long animations were dragging it down on Fury. It does have great survivability, though. A Scrapper might be better, depending on your attack chain and how much survivability you're willing and able to buy.
influence comes generally easy, and I would have time to make a decent build. my bs/sd/bod is lil over 2 billion. ugh that took nearly a year. 3 builds later and I love her. I would need to read a guide about WP, learning to IO the layered def/res/hp/regen of WP could be quite mind boggleing on which I should go for first. I would imagine def/HP/regen/recharge/acc.
up the defense obvious, up the HP up the regen with one stone, up the regen to. want recharge. Prolly go hasten with about 5 LotG global recharges.
I figure with stamina/ quick recovery/ and Phys perfection (if scrapper), would be enough for endurance recovery.
I tryed and tryed WP on tankers and really don't like the feel, but on a brute or scrap I can learn to love it cuz WP isn't main concern, cranking out DPS is.
Only reason I thinking brute is cuz I have a few scraps, and I only have one brute which is electric/sd/bod which is very nice, but how scraps SC and LR out classes brutes makes me wanna slap the toon. but that brute tares stuff up like crazy.
I figure having another brute would be a change of pace, but if I got annoyed with long animations and heals with regen, then I could imagine the same frustration with fury bar as u say. That would drive me ape ****! -
I have a concept for a "warrior's mark" toon. Basically a natural warrior. Each suit would have influence from different cultures. For exzample: Roman, Asian (samurai/ninja), medievil, tech. I roled a kat/invun scrap to about mid 30's but didn't really like the feel. I was thinking WP cuz it is a toggle and forget set that would allow me to focus in on damage, damage and more damage.
DB is pretty great at DPS. I am not sure whether I should role a brute or scrap for this. Either AT would be going both red and blue side for badges, then finally settle back into the blue side.
I know brute WP may be over all more durable (even though scrapper base regen in WP's aura is higher), the higher max res/hp would be good. I know the high end DPS would possibly be better as a brute with fury bar, however that takes a spawn to achieve.
Would the unrestrained raw power of the scrap primary close the gap in durability department?
Not looking for a long drug out debate, just looking at what would be the better AT for the concept of tough natural warrior. Much thanks. -
Quote:Thats what I figured, so either I could wait for the spawn to walk away then use it, or just not use it. Maybe if it was Fire or DA version it would be useful mid spawn, but in those sets in some situations it is better to die, then res, than to take the effort to stay alive. If I could fit in the self rez into my build, I'd take it purely for concept reasons. It's really just a really lousy rez, because when I die, i'm surrounded by enemies who usually kill me as I'm still rezzing.
Thanks. I went db/regen, I hate it. love the concept on the toon back then, so he ain't deleted. When I went db/wp when it was lauched, I liked it, but both are power choice heavy early on, but now that fitness is inherent, that won't be so bad anymore. Thanks. -
Quote:What would you think of having the self rez power? or is it that you would mainly die before being able to toggle back up? I mean it doesn't have a knock back/damage feature like fire, or DA's right? With Tough/Weave , CJ and the right IOs my WP tanker never felt squishie. o.O
That said, if you're looking for something different, then I say go with /WP. It's perfect for Dual Blades, as you have 1 clickie power, that when set, will be a (imo) worthwhile power to have, but not used often.
Also like I said I never IO'ed my invun, or WP, so my only comparison is with SO's. I did half IO my invun, finally, in the attacks. However the only tanker I have ever completely IO'ed is my ice/electric/Pyre.
My invun is strong enough def/resist for me, that I didn't feel the need to IO his Armor's as of yet. He is collecting dust, because I honestly can't get past my bs/sd/bod scrap.
But I have seen WP scraps out class in many situations, the invun scrap. -
My concept is a natural warrior. toons name is Warrior's Mark. he was a kat/invun, but I got playing him and wanted him as a db instead.
The premise is to have a tough warrior. Which would fit best? I would be going Body mastery. I have a invun tanker, and I really do not like the difference between survival in the invun, scrap side. Even with tough/weave, cj.
Thinking WP will be fitting, because it really has no true weakness besides alpha's. I don't have to worry about getting my recharge super high to main tain the hugh HP buff in dull pain. That and WP will make it where I don't steal agro from tankers. Where invincibility is very strong agro aura.
I have had 2 WP tankers, one of which was stone melee, and even with fault, he felt kinda squshie (course that was back at AE boss farms). Then I had a lvl 43 wp/ss. My invun has SO's same as WP and invun just seems far more durable, even with SO's
But scrap side I won't have to worry bout tanking much, so I am thinking I might beable to give WP a fair shake.
I am not looking for arguement, and I am not asking which would be more fun, cuz honestly, fun is a matter of perception in a indvidual. Would just like a show of votes really.
Thanks.
And Happy new years forum goers. -
Quote:You hit the nail on the head here.Yes and no. There is no difference in mitigation between 45% defense (aka soft-cap) and 105% defense (random number pulled from my jelly bean) in typical game play (tower buffed Lord Recluse maybe, but I really doubt you will be facing him solo with any serious expectations of long term survival). Until defense debuffs start to kick in that is. Yes, SR has 95%+ ddr (defense debuff resistance), but a dozen or so Cimerorans whacking away at you will eventually drop you out of the soft-cap if you started at or very near 45%. If you started at say 50%, you have that much more of a buffer before you have to worry about cascading defense failure (the more often they hit you > the more often they debuff you > the more often they hit you > etc etc.) I certainly wouldn't go out of my way to get to much higher than 50% though, and on my DM/SR I even settled for 44.7% melee defense, as DM has -tohit in its attacks, which is essentially like +def. With FM as your primary, your secondary mitigation is +dmg, so as long as you're confident in your ability to defeat potential threats faster than they can debuff your 45% you should be fine.
Such is my understanding at least.
However if such instances call for protection for cascading defense failure, and the buil has ample room, go ahead and throw in elude as a OH Sheet power. -
My scrapper currently is running 52% haste, and she has a no gapped attack chain of beheader, disembowl, hack, slice. Rinse and repeat. Every once in a while I throw in a whirleing sword (depending if spawns alive), or a parry. With your melee defense you will have to start out with parry, which I tend to do. I jump mid spawn, and hit parry a couple of times, to let the spawn gather round for full AAO saturation. then BU+SC, whirleing sword, slice, beheader. then kicks into the chain said above. I think the 22% haste, with having to depend on parry, should suffice. If you have mutant pack, or some one giving mystic fortune, it is fairly easy to get more recharge.
Endurance will be a massive problem. Put miricle unique for 20% rec, that will help, instead of the lvl 50 IO heal. If you had manuvers, and phalanx fighting, actually slotted for defense, that would give you the defense numbers, that some of those Red fortunes give you, however that is also 15% of ur 22% haste. If you could spare those you could put in some Gift of the ancient (set of two is 1.5% rec). You could also put in performance shifter proc for +end in stamina, two lvl 50 IO's endredux will put you at 85% enhance (cap is 99%)
I would drop comfront, and get vengence there. Or take out grant cover and pick up hasten. that would actually let you reduce your red fortunes and put in gift of the ancients. Not sure why melt armor is in, by what I have heard in the forums and seen in game, it isn't all that great scrap side. If you take out melt armor and replace with fire blast, you can 4 slot with thunderstrike, and get more recovery.
See what mids gives you by slotting manuvers, and phalanx fighting, for defense, if your numbers are there, reduce slots in ur defense some, put in gift of ancients, for recovery, take out grant cover, pick up hasten, drop comfront for vengence. If you are able to scale down your defenses (slot wise), you could put Luck of the Gambler def/recharge 7.5% in some places. -
Quote:I was looking at your build. I know nothing of Hami IO's... What mids is showing me is 5 slots left.really? i've been mucking around for the past hr and still nothing
anyhelp would be appreciated
Put one in helth and put in numina unique for regen/rec. and miricle rec unique. Put two into stamina one performance shifter proc for +end, and two common lvl 50 IO's for end mod. put two into phys perfection. or drop the performance shifter, and put 3 into phys perfection and put two numina set for 12% regen, or miricle for another 2.5% end rec, then put two common IO's lvl 50 for end mod.
That there should help your recovery drastically. I gotta eat dinner, sorry it wasn't a long enough look to see anything but the 2.72 end/sec rec, which is low. TOO low, to solo a av, or pylon. Try shooting for almost 4 end/sec rec. -
Quote:Oh.. well thanks. I didn't realize that. You are right I was reading it wrong. dern... I know I am not soft capped, but I do like to team play. I solo alot, but still I like to be a team oriented player. Also I have tryed alot of times to get all posistions to 45% and I just can't seem to do it, with out sacrifice to HP,regen,Recovery.Cardiac doesn't work like that.
The Alpha slot should be viewed as an enhancement.
So lets say you had a power giving you 10% resistance to all unenhanced. If you went Cardiac Radial that would increase that 10% by 20% (10*0.2) which would make your resistance from that power 12%.
Also, get your defense to 45% >_> -
Quote:The vid is very nice, however SC cranking over 500 dmg... That vid was before the adjustment...Its epic .. mines lvl 50 and 1 of my fav chars, heres a vid of it in action.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fvzScG3kvCs
Now don't get me wrong, because I think the SC adjustment actually makes kills go by faster. My starter is BU+SC then WS/slice/HS.
With the adjustment to SC, the minions don't die, so you still have that hugh damage bonus while being able to use WS at a much stronger damage, Mins/LT's die in two hits, and every once in a while you might have to slice a LT or two to kill them. I think the adjustment to SC was very well placed, for that reason. -
I have decided to go cardiac radial boost with my bs/sd/bod, to further beef up durability.
My build now is at 1,938 (2319 with one with the shield), 23.85 hp/sec regen, 28.55 with one with the shield. melee defense rests at 41%, and 40.9% to R/AoE. with a vet pet buff that goes to 43% M and 43.4% to R/AoE, or with one allie soft capped to all posistions. A heal for 506 HP on a eight second recharge. 28% res to S/L F/C 16.7% E 14.2%, NE 20.4% and T at 14.2%. Extra 22% to S/L and 11% to all but psi, with one with the shield.
Now with radial bost with extra 20% that 28% turns to 48% or 71% to S/L with one with the shield. That 20% to all others puts me close to 40% resistance to all but psi (psi 20%). That would be a substancial boost in durability for my scrap. On par, with tanker version invun. Mind you I wouldn't have Dull Pain cranking an aditional 1k HP cap. But I am close to tanker base HP.
Now mind you I am not trying to make my scrap a scranker, but as most shields know scrap side, they end up turning into a meat shield for the meat shields. AAO has such strong agro, that a ice/electric/pyre tanker can be stripped of agro, if not spamming taunt.
I am not trying to compare my self to a tanker, because honestly I have too much tank XP to know, no matter what I do, Seraphima will never come close to tanker durability. However as stated above, I feel shields should gear for as much mixed mitigation as possible, because of the potential for stripping agro is so great, that they should beable to take hits like a tanker. Please don't mis read this as a tanker bashing post, it is just my opinion that SD should be made tankerish in durability numbers, because of the fact of agro.
I would like some opinions if you care to. I would love to see some support. Or if some one has a better route to take my scrap I would love to read it. I will post my build for the forums info, and to see the numbers. Not looking to get my build tailored, because I love her build, and am not changeing it, just for insight purposes.
I thank you for taking the time, and please have a merry X-mas (if some are offended by that) have a merry Christmas.

Quote:Well your latest build with CJ on it shows 37% def to M/R/AE. Take 3 slots from stamina put a performance shifter proc, and two lvl 50 end mod IO's. Take those three slots put on in disembowl, and put full set of Touch of Death, or Mako's bite. Put one slot into hack, and put either the ToD or Mako their. Add another slot to Slice and put full set of Eradication, and that will give you 40% def to all positions. With your regen, and slight resistance, max HP, and your Damage modifier, should pull you through in most instances. Now remember you do have PARRY. Not only melee def, but it is lethal defense. which smashing and leathal is the most common. So you can soft cap to that def right out the box with parry. So if you get your lethal defense up over say your ranged or AE defense, those will attacks even with a secondary component, will be a mute point.Okay, I've been playing around with Mids, clicking the little green balls to turn powers on and off. When all of Fury Flechette's powers except Phalanx Fighting are on, s/he has a Melee defense of 31.3%, the same as Gentleman Gladiator. When I turn Phalanx Fighting on Fury, it jumps up to 45.4%, yet when it's turned on for GG it only jumps to 35%. Both toons are slotted identically in Phalanx Fighting, (LOTG: Defense, LOTG: Recharge Speed, and LOTG: Def/End) so I don't understand the difference.

Quote:Well for the debuffs and all out soft controls, dark armor will be your best bet. It is very endurance heavy, but built right, can do some great things. Pair with katana or broadsword they both have parry for melee/lethal defense. Broad sword is alot more hard hitting, but katana is faster, and uses alot less endurance.I am and have been a major tanker person. I love playing tanks, I have a WP/Fire, Fire/Fire, and a Stone/Stone that I used to love so much (Also tried and lvled a WP/Kin and Inv/Energy but didnt like) but I have lost interest in my Fire/Fire and Stone/Stone.
I still play my WP/Fire as my main but I would like to maybe try other ATs to see if I prefer them. I tried a stone/radiation troller and stopped at lvl 23, still have a fire/kin at lvl 42 but fading interest, tried a DP/Traps defender, and a Fire/Energy blaster but I don't have much fun with them.
I am thinking my interest lies within Scrappers (Not having to worry as much as being the main role for tank. Dont have to be as invested in taunting and keeping aggro, maybe still help to keep off of squishy but more laid back). I do enjoy having decent defense/resist (Like any player would) so I am thinking of combos that can be somewhat of a hybrid to have great defense/resist (IOs will take care of that), decent damage (As scrappers are no strangers to), but also with some extra handy powers to use for range (couple powers in the build for range like one in set and one-two in epic pool) so I can be more well-rounded.
Now I am sure at least 80% of all scrappers have soft-capped defense/resistance, 300-400+ damage attacks, and have at least two ranged attacks (Fire blast/Fire Ball, Dark Blast/Moonbeam, Zapp/Ball lightning/Shackles, Web grenade/etc.) So I was hoping some of you guys out there can post what combination you run as primary, if you like them, and maybe explain some scenarios or situations in which your character has expressed distinct strength in some field in the past. I was thinking a KM/WP/Mu Master(or fire/pyre/blaze w/e they call it) would be a good combo for the defense/regen/recov, couple AOE, debuff potential, and a little range. Electric/Dark maybe, so please post!
Electric and spines would be a good combo for any set. Electric is as nasty beast with endurance sapping capabilites. Where as spines will dot toxic slow movement and recharge. Only thing to them is when you reduce a spawn down to their bosses, a migit with a stick will whoop up on them faster than you will. ST damage on both these sets are very weak.
I like body mastery on my scraps, and I have tryed pyre on tank side. Don't have too much I can tell you on that.
Werner has some amazeing kat/da builds which can solo pylons and AV's and what not. Seen vid's on Utube I bieleve.
My Main toon is Timeless Seraphima: bs/sd/bod scrapper. Build is a bit expensive (in some folks eyes), but I have tanked on teams with AV's GM's. I can solo AV's/Pylons/Some GM"s but I don't ever kill those things. My recharge isn't high enough for the DPS needed to solo those things. However survival wise she can handle damn near anything my tankers can. In all actuality she may be more survivable than my ice tanker, if you take away the heal, and hibernate.
I have soloed most baddie types at +3x8 with her, and that is after the shield charge adjustment (which actually helps cuz not killing the minions in one hits lets AAO have a higher damage modifier for your next AE attack).
I like medievil theme's so sword and shield works great for my eyes. It works great with my play style, I fell in love!
I was/still am a very avid tanker player, however I do think IO'ing scraps make a much more noticable change to their survival than it does tank side. -
Quote:I have a spines/sr. she is beastly and for cheap. Is a old AE boss farm build had a pocket kin duo, so I went all rech with her. Spines may give electric a run for it's money out side of LR. Also spines damage is also a gurantee. Electric has splash damage, often time like in chain induction if you kill the host the chain doesn't hop. Or if it passes to the second baddie and kills that, there goes the chain.Don't see a lot of Spines Scrappers anymore. I have one that's Spines/Regen which kind of petered out for me around 26. Just didn't seem that good a set to me at the time.
Anyone have a suggestion of what might work with Spines better than Regen?
Spines/FA/Pyre will out damage electric/sd 20 seconds at a time. On top of the very respectable AE dmg it dot's toxic, slows movement, and recharge.
spines/invun is durable but your play style would have to change a bit. Because of Invincibility, you will have to target the back end of the spawn. do a running jump into it while useing "throw spines." Land in the center of the spawn and soak up the def/tohit bonus from invincibility, then let "spine burst" fly. Again to use throw spines, you will have to jump back so you can cover the complete spawn, so invun will start to lack their as you have to be a mobile scrap to get spines full potential.
I would not suggest spines/regen. I actually tryed lowbie lvls of that. Spines burst has a long animation and so does eviserate, those powers can kill you by the time you are able to click a heal. I have much the same prob with db/regen/bod. You don't use the right attack as a opener you are floored.
If I were to suggest one it would be spines/sr. Both can be played as a mobile set. You won't have to worry about loseing a buff by moving in and out of melee range. SR has very strong defense which is very easy to soft cap. Also it has a recharge/run speed buff in the build. Spines works nice cuz it has "quills" which acts as a very decent agro aura. My spines/SR in the teen's and twentys would out tank some of my tankers/ other peoples tankers. Spines is very heavy power choice picks. I would take the first 8 powers in it. However with inherent fitness pool, that is 3 more power choices. -
Quote:I have a stone/stone/pyre tanker. Mastering the use of TP for travel/ movement past pebbles in the road was key.Hover goes along with teleport - it's nice not to fall after TPing!
Thank you very much, I'm about to download it and check it out!
It was rare for me to have a fall, unless I was messing around, while taking red damage in the hundreds then being instantly ported back into the air.
Well remove manuvers from the build then. -
Quote:I can vouch for this. I have a ice/electric/pyre tanker. and if Sheild scraps are on the team. I must gain agro not only by aura, but by punch voke, then often times have to regain my agro off of the shield scraps with a taunt.Scrapper AAO will out taunt Ice Tanks. That's how much the enemies will love you!
AAO has such strong agro control it is really insane. -
Quote:I uploaded that build and then tweaked it a lil bit. Tell me what you think. I am still confused on why you want hover. Unless for concept, it is just too slow to really make use of, unless you have a pocket kin with SB. See what you think. I raised your defense a few percent to each posistion.I'm baffled. I basically copies the Fury Flechette build in post # 4 with some very minor differences and my defense is around 35% while that one is 45%.
You can see it's identical in all powers/slots that matter:

Quote:I have one question... Why the flight speed common IO in swift? you have no flight power. Might as well put a Run IO in and give you a decent sprint speed, while not being able to hop about like a bunny on crack. Caves and what not tone down the usefulness of travel from sj/cj.It's fairly expensive, but I've found this build to work quite well; this is my current live setup:
I like the build though. -
Quote:Well my first build posted has hecatomb in disembowl. But other than that, no... I get on average about 12 hours of game play a week. Seraphima took me about a year to build on fury flechette's build. Once I had the base of the build. I was waiting on the LotG 7.5% rech IO's for quite a while. Thanks! I've downloaded both builds and am playing around with them. I obviously don't want to lose my purples, so am trying to figure out there to slot those while also taking advantage of the other bonuses in your builds.
So trying to purple something is kinda ludakris for me. -
This is fury flechette's build. I respec out of conserve power, and put in focused acc. but that was basically all I changed. Still a very playable build even though I don't have it any more. However like I said, due to set bonus changes in IO's over the past 3 issues, she lost 3 hp/sec regen, lost about 3% def to melee, ranged, AoE, than what she was back in I16, she also lost some recovery... she was at 4.24 end/sec rec, but IO set changes made a noticeable impact on her performance. Still a great build. throwing it out there for ideas for you.
