  1. On a regen...actually slotting health is about worthless...the gain is so minimal above and beyond a single proc it's not even worth it, especially when the other valuable proc is already in FH. Most of my regen builds have around 700% passive regen with toggles running. No IH, no rebirth, no nothing...just integration....if I run integration, and then drop IH and rebirth I am so close to the regen cap on a scrapper I could kiss it....so your same argument could be made for slotting health, could it not? Recharge is more beneficial...FAR more beneficial than an extra proc slotted into an inherent that is essentially a mule in that powerset...especially when you won't necessarily get the full benefit of it all the time. It is essentially the same as chasing +Def bonuses until you are way past the softcap (or incarnate softcap, if you could get way past it), because "more is better"...when sometimes more is not any better. Regen's have regeneration in spades...what they need is recharge and Defense!
  2. Go kinetic melee for similar type feel/play style/concept...
  3. Then Good luck, and grab recharge where you can, and defense if at all possible. If you can hit 45% S/L Defense...then you are in good shape...if not shoot for 40% minimum...and if you can't get that...get at least 32.5% and settle for nothing less than that...you'll be fine.
  4. Go agility alpha...brutes get less mileage out of musculature...and the recharge is always nice...

Mathematically it may or may not be the best choice but the proc will work exactly as the OP expects it to.

OP I think that's an interesting build. Personally I aim for S/L defense on my DA characters, but to each their own. That's a lot of end drain; I wonder if Form of the Soul can counteract it sufficiently, or are you planning on using Ageless?
Then you especially want to put a 50+5 End mod IO in it, because that will increase your max end, which means you recover more at the same % and one 50+5 End Mod IO in there should put you around 109-110 max end before any other +end set bonuses come into play...10 free endurance? worth it everytime.

What you'll want to do is take the Perf Shift Proc out of superior conditioning and put a 50+5 End Mod IO in there...superior conditioning adds to your max endurance...you'll want that to be a constant number
  7. Shield is fine...seriously...if you want DDR, then run ageless radial as your recharge tool, take musculature alpha and slot your primary for acc/dmg and def...holes...filled.

SR LOVES AGILITY!!! Think about it...More DEF? YES! More RECHARGE? YES!! More ENDURANCE? YES!!!

    Agility for the win...
    seriously...
  9. Try this on, it's my scrapper...and there have been several threads about this same pairing....here and scrapper forums...my build is pricey but you will get some ideas...it won't all translate though...brutes don't get Shadowmeld...you can go with something else there though.

Also there is a guide in my sig for /regen toons.

  11. Actually QR has a much higher base % the slots are better there than in stamina. You overslotted a few things. I usually put a LotG +rech in MoG and shadowmeld and add a couple rech IOs the defense on those 2 really doesn't need any buffing...but the recharge does. I will look more closely later

-E- I have had some time to look this over...

You've chased a lot of +HP bonuses...unnecessarily...Dull Pain running will basically cap your HP slotted the way you have it...by the time your accolades get added in you don't need anymore HP you won't gain anything from it really.

I would Slot ShadowMeld and MoG something like this... LotG +Rech(50)/Rech Redux IO(50+5)/Rech Redux IO(50+5) for both of them...

Furthermore what Alpha slot are you considering? If you are thinking Spiritual, and you should be....then you will gain a boatload of recharge from that...you could probably lose 1 slot from hasten and still make it perma with T4 Spiritual Core Paragon. Plus some of the set bonuses you are losing would be compensated for by the healing boost from spiritual so your passive regen will benefit as well...
  12. You all realize that there's always a "high water mark" somewhere...and it's usually a LONG time before that line gets passed again...in essence...it takes a flood to raise the line again.

In short, what I am saying is TW is the "high water mark" right now...that was likely the intention. It will also likely be a long time before anything comes around that is anywhere near passing it. Get used to it...remember this word - BALANCE.

There's nothing wrong with a set that has potential to do 220-240 DPS with lots of added tools that other sets don't have...so...complain about "it's not strong enough...make it like TW!!" all you want...you'll only bring in a nerf bat faster.

When they balance things, there is not usually any creep...what happens is...the outliers come closer to center. Think carefully about what you are wishing for, because you might get it in a form different from what you wanted.

-E- Let me cite previous examples...

    Energy Melee
    Regen (x10)
    Performance Shifter SBE
Fury (I am talking about the mechanic not the ATO)
    Fire Aura (Fiery Embrace)

I am certain there are many that do not even come to my mind at the moment.
  13. You know what...I totally missed that...good call...I forgot I put that in there...

    There it is.
  14. Preemptive too...they can't attack if they have no endurance...and energy damage proc is equal in damage to reactive...
  15. planet_J

    ATO's and staff

on my /regen I will be splitting into 2 groups of 3 and putting it into the PBAoE powers with 3 Erads in the other slots.
  16. Check out the link in my sig for my guide on /Regen toons.
  17. If you are looking for /Regen suggestions and ideas, check out my guide the link is in my sig. It is more geared toward IOs but the principal is the same...
  18. I would say that superior performance would be running +4/x8 with out pez against any mob...except perhaps an occasional blue as I can understand endurance is not always something you have a ton of with every set...especially with 3 mobs gathered.
  19. Call me crazy...but my idea of an average survivability toon runs +4/x8 without chewing up tons of pez. Soloing AVs is not out of the realm of possibility nor are pylon runs or incarnate trials without a single death. Perhaps not everyone thinks this way...but if I am soloing and I can't pull 3 groups and it be nearly routine...I feel the build/set is somehow deficient.
  20. I don't have access to Mids right now, but if you need slotting ideas and what Regen is good at and not good at, look at my guide in my sig...
  21. with a resist set you want to build for defense...period. Get to at least 32.5% S/L 40% if you can and 45% if at all possible. If you can make E/N close to 45% while you do it even better...

You won't be able to positionally softcap ELA, but that would be ideal if you could.

But I actually have 63% and change...

I find the capped positional defense quite useful in Incarnate content, especially considering that more and more of the enemies have 64% to hit. If I could incarnate softcap all of them I would, but that is out of the realm of possibility on Dark Armor unless all of the sudden steadfast and glad armor uniques started giving about 7.5% each...and I doubt that would ever happen.

That toon is built for out and out survivability...the damage on katana is good...but I don't have any purple sets on my main, and I would have liked to have them for the damage, but the cards just didn't fall where I could squeeze any in without sacrificing my primary goal.

here is the build see for yourself...

  23. No, I am using Agility, not Cardiac, don't have the SW unique and I don't count Barrier in base resist numbers.
  24. 6% is alot...think about it this way...that's 1 bil inf worth of IO's if you did it with 2 slots in other powers...

Because of Dark's inherent defensive power, I was able to softcap all positional defenses with my Kat/Dark brute after 1 divine avalanche lands...you cannot do that with any other resists set, with the exception of perhaps invuln...though you lose your damage aura that way.

Also, I consider the control aspects of Dark Armor to be far more useful than many give credit for...the enemy flat out will not hit you if he is cowering in fear...Oppressive Gloom, I don't personally care for because of the incessant wandering it causes...but I suppose if you built for the 2 running at once...that would be mighty potent.

You also mentioned the Rez, being a Mag 30 stun is extremely useful if you just died in the middle of a mob...

-E- 59.4% Psi resists? What AT are you using for these calcs? My psi resists are into the 60's on my brute...63% iirc...and I know I don't have any extra psionic resists slotted... They are right at 79% on my Dark/Fire tank...

I doubt it stacks, but awesome if does.

Buuut, that's still additional defenses other sets don't get. And it's with an attack you'll want to use.

For some Tankers who just want to be more survivalable this seems awesome! Tanker ATO Proc and Melee Defense with more +Resist
How about the attack that gives -resists to target? I cannot think of the name of it right now, but I know it's the very first one...
