Okay, so I was able to get positional soft caps. Guarded Spin's buff puts me just shy of the incarnate soft cap for melee. I stayed away from purples as I am not a billionaire and as it is these sets/procs will brake me.

Regarding Alpha Incarnate- Undecided. Not sure if the build as it is will hold up end wise. I think it will but you sometimes never know until you get to test it. I was thinking Cardiac t4 Core for end reduction/resist bonuses, Agility t4 Core for the endmod/def bonuses, Nerve t4 Core for the acc/def bonuses, or Muscular t4 Radial for the dam/endmod/immob. bonuses. Leaning towards Muscular but really all depends on the end (doesn't it always). Note: The incarnate resist bonuses add 3%ish, Def Bonuses about 3%ish. If the general rule of 1% def = 2% resist is true then in this case Def bonuses are superior.

Anyway, have at it and let me know what ya think.

Side Note: Innocuous Strikes can actually take 6 +chance for damage procs. Soooo want to test it but the acc. will be crap

I will second this... but only because you have stamina, physical perfection and superior conditioning. If you had nothing beyond stamina, the endurance modification increase would be largely null.

You know what... even with that said, I think Cardiac is still worth looking into. If you are already positionally soft capped, unless you are knocking at the incarnate softcap, the added defense may not be worth it to you. However, the endurance reduction in Cardiac is something that pretty much anyone can appreciate.

I would not be using Kin Combats at least not for the +def. Kin Combats are best used for building S/L defense (i.e. typed). The set also has fairly low accuracy making global accuracy bonuses or to hit bonuses more important when Kin Combat sets are used.

I don't have access to Mids right now ... what is your net recovery?
What are your positional defenses? You should be aiming for about 47% give or take a bit unless aiming for the incarnate cap in some fashion.

Add a Kismet +6% in the build somewhere, doubly so if accuracy/hitting up level stuff is a concern. I always build looking for 95% vs +4's (or +3's with a level shift) Hard to tell for sure but looks like the build does not have that kind of accuracy.

The Perf Shifter +End is not a unique, I suspect using it in Superior Conditioning and Physical Perfection is probably a good idea for overall endurance/net recovery. No Mids to confirm this, but you'd need to add more than 0.2 end/sec with a slot to make the +End proc a poor choice. Further if endurance usage is a problem the first steps to take are 1) get the Heal uniques (done) and 2) add the +Max End accolades (no idea if that's already done)

This is an SR build ... +defense will trump +resist by utter miles unless something is seriously wrong with the build up until you hit the soft cap at which point +max health, +regen and resist will all utterly trump more defense in terms of survival. Incarnate cap concerns merely shift the above statement to "until you hit the incarnate cap" etc. etc..

Alright I am at work but will try so no Mids. DoomGuide, the kins allowed me to get to melee softcap with only 4 slots. I did notice the accuracy but as always limited on slots. When I pull from other areas I lose regen, recov, or the def softcap in another positional but am still obviously looking for options. I could lose the kins and the buff from Guarded Strike would put melee over soft cap but I am not sure I want to rely on that.

If I remember correctly my positionals are all 46.5-47.5%. GS buff puts melee at 58.6%

My net recovery is just over 3/sec. I believe. Net after Agility give a .1 or so higher Net than after Cardiac although skills costing less may be better than relying on a recovery to outpace quick skills and long combat. Will look into adding more PS +end procs. This could be a great option allowing me to pick one of the other Alpha's for damage or accuracy.

My accuracy bonus isn't bad but I agree and certainly want more.

Once I get home I will post any inaccuracies in the above values.

Please note, this build is by no way set. I am looking for a strong damage build with soft capped positionals and as much s/l resist as possible. I'm open to other options for Epic choice but I am pretty sure the prim/sec skills are the ones I want but you never know. Thanks for posting and I'll try some tweaks and repost when I can.

I figured the Kin Combats were there for the slot savings. The thing is one of the build advantages possessed by SR is one can hit the soft cap without using any set bonuses. It does narrow your power choices down as, of course, you get the soft cap via powers rather than set bonuses. On my Claws/SR this means toggles+passives+weave+cj+maneuvers+steadfast+glad =soft cap (47%). The rest all went into developing an SR scrapper with over 2000 max health and a passive regen around 29hp/sec prior to any incarnate considerations such as Rebirth.
Currently you have everything but Maneuvers meaning you would need roughly one set bonus (of 3% or so) each for melee, range and AoE or take Maneuvers of course. Focused Accuracy 6 slotted with GSFC would be one way while only using one power otherwise you are likely to need 3 powers to get the set bonuses.

I'm unfamiliar yet with Staff Fighting but generally a net recovery of 3.0 end/sec (or a bit over) should be enough to run your attacks/attack chain for a long long time if not forever. Also the roughly 0.2 end/sec the Perf Shift +End proc averages is not going to be included in consumption/recovery figures in Mids ... 2 of them in the build (if the 3rd is replaced by FA) would add another 0.4 end/sec roughly to your net.

Okay so finally got a chance to work on the build some more. I have added in the Kismet +6, nixed the Kin combats, and did what I could for +regen and +MaxHP. Unfortunately I was only able to get a 25-26/sec regen. The recovery net is just under 3.0/sec but I now have two Perf. Shifters instead of one. Accuracy, which I wanted more of, was hard to come by. I think I will end up taking Nerve as my Alpha. This will move my positional 47-48% def softcaps to 50-51% plus give me the Accuracy I want. I think I will be fine on the endurance side of things. My recharge times are all quick as is so I shouldn't miss the Agility recharge bonus.

Anyway, any thoughts on the new version of the build would be appreciated.

Heya, Xolander.

Boy, did you mess up asking me to take a peek at this! The bad news is I have only just started to play the staff powerset, and it's on a scrapper, not a brute. And I've never played the super reflexes powerset beyond level 18 or so. Not sure why, it's a completely wonderful set.


Regardless, I saw that you were going for positional defense - which in many ways is vastly superior to typed, as it won't matter what's being thrown at you, toxic, psi, negative energy, you'll likely dodge it.

I could also see that you were pushing hard for more hp, regen - but I noticed that you had some powers that in my blissfully ignorant state seemed to be over slotted. My weakness is that I tend to get distracted and chase bonus sets. And, with converters, I don't really worry about the price at the market if I can't farm it or have it stashed in my base.

As far as I can tell, the only weak spot in the "tweaked" build I made for you was recharge is not very good, and of course, being a defense based toon, your resistance isn't good either. If something does hit you, you're going to feel it.

You'll see some folks say to not worry about iTrial numbers because you'll have buffs - and that may be true on some servers with full leagues, but I can tell you, even on full leagues, we don't always get the right buffs to help us out. So, I tried to get you to at least the soft cap for level 50 stuff, and hopefully, the AoEs won't hit you that hard.

Again, bear in mind, I've never played these powersets. (my stalker is only level 25 and only has a few attacks - so not sure how much recharge you need)

But, you can see that you can easily get soft cap in all three positions. And, if it weren't for trying to get you the AoE protection to soft cap levels, I could have easily gotten your melee and ranged to incarnate soft cap levels. At least, pretty darn close.

Other forum readers, like Nemu, are sheer geniuses with their combining of HOs and other sets to do amazing builds. If you're living right, one of them will truly shed some inspired genius on the potention of this toon you have.

Well I can only assume with the over slotting you meant the 4th slot in most of the LotG sets. I usually use the fourth slot to reduce the end the toggles use by .03/sec and the main reason is the 9% accuracy bonus.

In your build there are two attacks with recharges just under 8 seconds..the rest are all under 5. One of the nice things about staff is hasten isn't needed as the skills are fast recharges anyways.

A little worried about the lack of any accuracy bonus in a build like this and I'm not sure the 2/sec net recovery would be enough.

There is some interesting stuff in your build though. I think you are def better than me at finding defense and still coming up with a build that isn't totally lost. With the buff from Guarded Spin around most of the time my melee def will be at 64.9%. Just plain crazy. I'm gonna see what I can do to mesh this stuff into my build.

Update- Just saw the third +end Perf Shifter. So a lot less to worry about the end of the build. I'm gonna try and switch the slots for Serpents Reach and Precise Strike. Serpent is ranged but more importantly does a lot more damage. I find it incredibly useful for those foes running away and seems to have a great knockdown rate. Hopefully I will be able to adjust that without sacrificing too much. I'll update more when I know more.

Alright so I think I have covered all my bases and come up with a pretty solid build. I achieve the incarnate softcap with all positionals over 60%. Anyway, always interested in build tips and suggestions. Thanks to everyone who helped me with this.
