Quote:They would be if you could obtain merits for paper missions.. And had the choice of obtaining merits instead of tickets for AE missions..The prices are fine. Nothing needs to be changed. The ability to cherry pick your recipes comes with a cost.
You can obtain regular salvage and IOs for AE missions.. Why can't you obtain Merits ?
You want to play 8 tickets for a random salvage.. I am willing to pay 12 merits for the salvage of my choice..
Your willing to pay 70 tickets for a random IO.. I am willing to pay 100 merits for a IO of my choice.
You know.. Make the IOs purchased with Merits a different color and have them linked to the account.. You can trade them within your account but you can never sell them..
See the simple and obvious point is.. Others are looking to make money. I am not.. I could care less.. I want to create a build.. That is it.. I don't need game money..
Some people really just want to play the game and not be stock brokers and bankers.. You want to do that.. Great.. Fine.. By all means..
But give me and players like myself that enjoy just creating a build because we can and to see what it can do the ability to do it without all this foolishness.
Give me a way to forgo any influence and infamy give me Merits or whatever, make them so they cannot be traded.. And I'm fine.. I go do missions, collect only merits and I trade those in for premade IOs. End result I don't get over on anyone.. It has zero effect on everyone.. I have no infulence on any market or any player since I have nothing to sell or trade or buy. -
I guess people don't mind doing thing repeatedly. To obtain Tickets or Merits.. Or even IOs.
I just found it a bit dumbfounding when I just did my 3 respecs and ITF for the 4th day in a row to obtain merits.. It really just got to the point of what the heck am I doing.. Like Pacman trying to get his next dot or some junkie trying to get my next fix.. Even the people I do them with complain how it sucks, but what are you gonna do.. It really is a hamster wheel.
It has got to the point where paying 20 bucks for 2 billion is just much easier and much more beneficial then the time spent doing what I am doing now.. 2 billion would last me a life time. I can just clear out all the salvage racks.. Sell everything I get at the vendors and be done with it.. The build is done.. I can move on to my next toon. -
I am not saying my idea is the end all be all. Maybe someone can think of something better. Again many ideas are off shoots of something else..
Further Does anyone remember when Merging the markets was "IMPOSSIBLE"
Wait it is possible now.. Oh MY, the earth and heavens must have been split in two to get this accomplished.. Or maybe someone(s) with some coding skills finally figured out how to do it..
I just leveled a Robot Traps up to 44 so far.. I have 40 million on me.. I had other toons make him some standard IOs. I would have had less if I had to buy the salvage and pay the fees to make anything I picked up.. Not including what I would have had to buy also. So I would have less then 40 million at level 44.. I have NOT picked up anything special or anything rare yet that I could benefit from to create a decent build with NO purple IOs... Again you can go over to the Mastermind forums to look up any builds I have to see.
Purple IOs is considered the lottery to me.. Meaning I will never consider having the ability to afford and use Purple IO sets.. This is also why I do not even try to PvP anymore.. Purple make that much of a difference.
End result everyone has mentioned either Farm and Market are optional and you can get enough money to buy stuff on market.. The reality is it just is not the facts. My character account is proof of that..
You are required to Farm or Market to obtain decent IOs or the money needed to purchase these IOs.
You cannot just do this through regular game play is all I am saying.. Well in all fairness you can.. But it would probably take you 8 months of doing missions at level 50 to obtain the cash required for a decent non purple IO build..
There is no casual put your stuff on the market and wait for it to sell.. I do that.. I can't count the number of times I sell below the current lowest price, only to see the next day the item is selling for less then half.. My items sits on market for 2 weeks before I have to take it down to resell.
Many make this stuff sound easy. .Hey I do AE farms on Monday and Wed.. And I do ST/TF on Tues and Thurs.. Then on friday and sat I do missions.. Then sunday I collect all my money from the market stuff I sold..
Thats great if you have 7 days a week to play the game.. You shouldn't be forcing people to conform to a system to obtain something.. It should be optional.. -
Quote:I will be the first to say reporting for merits is not the greatest idea.. I did infer that when I mentioned it..No. Just.... no.
For one thing, I'm much happier burning tickets on salvage and whatnot. They're fine.
For another, you already *get* merits for finishing story arcs.
Merits for reporting? No. Just no.
The people who want to farm will farm regardless.
The people who want to play the market will do so regardless.
ANd the people like me, who *do* run missions - yes, even with the 50s - are going to do so regardless of whatever other rewards you come up with.
I also did mention that people will farm.. And people will play the market regardless.
But what of the people who have no interest in the market game.. Or the farm game.. Why can't we play the game for what it was meant to be which is playing a hero or a villain..
What is the purpose of doing a mission and getting tickets, when you can do missions and get Merits. Well they have to be contact story lines.. You don't get merits for paper missions. Or at least from what I noticed.. But could be wrong.
And once you do a mission which takes pretty much the same it takes to do a contact mission.. You get tickets for some random stuff.. which 80% of the time you don't need and is listed on the market for 500 inf.
Is it a horrible idea.. No, but why not just allow players to get what they want to get ?.
Some how you got the wrong impression that I don't do missions with my 50s.. I do.. That is how I obtain those hard to get IOs. But I do solo runs with toons to obtain tickets. I did 8k and got more junk then something worth while. Other then that I am pretty much at max capacity for a SG/ VG with 18 salvage / Storage bins.. 21 slots in mailbox and toons just holding Inventions to be sent in mail to be created..
Further I have only once had someone ask me if I wanted to some AE missions and ONLY because they wanted me to check out the missions and then rate them, of course the player was the creator running 2 accounts.
And you know on top of all this I do play the market game.. I make stuff and sell it with toons I am waiting to respec..
But in the end I'm farming tickets.. I'm farming Merits.. And I'm playing the market game.. And for what ?
I will tell you for what.. Because I would like to have a decent build like many other players. I want to have good build so I don't need to die 5x during a mission.. Maybe even one day create a PvP toon and spend 2 billion to be of any good use in RV zone.
If your gonna tell me your doing random AE missions just to check them out on a regular basis and not farming some sort of AE mission.. I will tell you, I just find it hard to believe.. I won't call you a liar.. But I just don't believe your just plugging in random AE missions.
You know when I do AE.. When I have so much " STUFF " that I just need for it to sell before I can acquire more "STUFF" .
Your saying people are going to farm.. Your right.. But why is it being made easier for them to do it ?.. Your level 1.. BAM you can run to AE kill some fat chick in a clown costume and your getting a level.. You go in the mission level 1, you come out level 6.. What the hell is that ??
At least when people where farming, you either where helping out or looking to buy a seat for the ride..
Look AE has just not turned into what they expected.. Or what many players expected.. You can't find a veteran player that will say AE has made this a better game.. Veteran meaning someone who was here before AE came out..
Look I am a fair and just man.. I believe if you put some effort into it you should be rewarded.. I'm fortunate that I can put some time into the game.. But I am noticing more and more I am spending less time playing and more time managing.. I feel I am putting more effort in then being rewarded and from reading a few post here and on the Market forums I see others feel the same..
You like Tickets.. I like Merits.. Fine, lets call it Merkits or Ticits..
Why can't we just collect these Merkits/Ticits for doing either or and use them how WE feel.. I hear ya.. you like random chance.. By all means.. Use yours for random chance.. I don't like Random chance after spending 10 hours of game play to collect 8k worth of tickets.. I want to spend my tickets on something I want.. Its like Skeet ball at the amusement park.. You get those tickets or your kid does.. Is the guy your giving the ticket to for a prize telling you or your son has to get some girls doll in wedding dress.. Or is your boy gonna be able to pick out that plastic Slinky that will break in the car before you get home ?
I mean there has to be a reason they reduce the ticket rate for repeating the same TF/SF within a period of time..
Otherwise people would be FARMING THEM... Get the point..
At a minimum let me do a random roll within some sort of IO branch.. type.. Field.. As I mentioned my tank doesn't need that Hold IO regardless of how great it is..
You know, has it occurred to anyone that maybe players really don't care if they did a bronze rolls and picked up 2 Num + regen/recharges, even if they don't need them. Because they can sell them on the market.. How about instead of wasting more of my time selling these 2 IOs on the market and then trying to bid for the item I want..
Why not just let me get what I wanted in the first place... And save me the 2 or 3 days of waiting and hoping the items sell or that some crazy change in the market makes them worth 100k instead of 100mil.
You can respond with no one is forcing you to do any of that.. But end result is you are or you end up with a character based on SOs which is pretty crappy now a days in all honesty..
How many people looking to do a SF or a TF are going to pick up the same Tank/Brute knowing they are only in SOs.. None, unless they have someone already IOed out..
I do ITF regularly with my Kin. Just by the damage someone takes I can tell they are in SOs or IOs. Granted some take IOs and lose sight of there purpose. But there still is a difference in survivability.
I'm just sick and tired of GRINDING 2 different systems hoping one gives me a decent break today on the rolls or that I can get the 250 tickets needed to buy a certain IO either to sell to so I can then Bid on the IO I really want.. Or save up the inf needed to try to bid for it next week. Assuming it is still in same price range.
Even Salvage goes for crazy prices.. One day Iron Salvage is 100 inf.. Next day its at 5k because 2 guys decided to buy it all and resell it for higher.. You do know that players do that to influence the market prices to there advantage. Its a pain in backside having to now wait 2 or 3 days for it come back down to a more reasonable price. Otherwise your the schmuck doing the impluse buy which is what they wanted in the first place.
Again there is no way of obtaining something decent in a reasonable amount of time when your trying to hedge your bets on 2 systems..
NOW if I could do 50% of one thing and then 50% of another but have 100% from both.. That would be GREAT....
Otherwise I will be perfectly honest.. I don't care about the award winning AE mission someone special did.. Because I end up getting 100 tickets for his cool looking mission with the great storyline and detail that is gonna cost me 40 minutes to do.
I will be doing the mission that gives me the most reward.. Even if its beating up a Zombie clown.. Repeatedly.
I will be doing the 3 Respec missions because they still give out 14 merits each.
And eventually I will be making that Brute or bringing my scrapper over to the villain side.. And yes he is a shield electric fire scrapper. Very original, I know... -
Not much to say but great stuff..
It would be great if the devs could just hit a post with a wink or even PM you a wink.. Even if it's just to say " Hey we seen this and we are listening.. " -
Simple idea..
Give merits for everything..
You complete a mission you get X amount of merits..
You complete a story line or whatever you want to call it, you get bonus merits.
People do AE missions you get merit rewards..
The creator of the AE gets merits for people doing his missions..
A person is currently allowed to create 3 missions in AE..
If a player creates 3 missions and links them together consider it a mini TF, think Respec mission. Players get bonus merits for completing that.
You only get merits for completing missions.
AE farms..
You have 2 ways with this..
1. Find the common denominator for these farms and code it from people obtaining Merits for completion.. They might get Experience, but nothing else.
2. Hate to say it but warn and then punish repeat offenders of the AE system. Simple 3 strikes and your out.. You get warned 3 x and the AE is deleted. 4th time your locked from creating an AE mission for a week or so.. Do it again.. the ban is longer..
3. Give people merits for reporting farm type missions.
Okay I know #2 is pretty rough and not great PR for the company.. Then your gonna have to make sure #1 is solid.. Or more solid then it is now.
Will people be doing TV Farms again.. Yes.. But I am sure you will get more people doing missions and story arcs to gain the bonus merits..
Create a way for people to link story arcs. So if group gets together to do the Slot Machine contact missions ( yes there is a contact call slot machine ) and one player is on mission 1 and others are on mission 4. The players are able to click a link button that will allow everyone to start off on mission 2.. The benefit is those who already did it will get merits at the end again..
Create a search option where people can find others doing the same contact missions and where they are in the mission story line. This way I can find players on part 4 like me instead of redoing missions 2 and 3, because I'm like that.. I want to finish the story line to get my bonus merits and move on to another story line..
Now imagine how crowded Ouroboros will be with people trying to complete old story archs.
People get Badges, they get merits.. People get Accolades, they get merits..
Then you buy what you want with these merits.. Now IF your one of those players that like gambling, then allow players to random roll within a designated group.. I'm a Tank I want to roll between heal and defense sets.. I don't care about Mezz or Hold buffs.
This way by level 50 a player who does no farming but just straight mission leveling should have enough between drops..Inf.. and Merits to create a decent 50 build or the ability to buy maybe a set or partial set of purple IOs. If that is what the player wants.
I just do not see the purpose of having tickets.. it's a complete crap shoot for the time spent. Further your do not know how good or bad a mission might be, until you do it. You know some people are good at creating missions And then you have people that stink.. I'm in the stink department.
But at the end you have these tickets that you might have over 1000 or 8k like myself and have no clue what to do with them. Simply because you don't have enough room on your characters and mailbox to hold these rewards. You will random roll 8k in tickets and get some decent stuff but the rest is garbage. I wouldn't slot some of that stuff on my dog side kick..
The whole purpose of the AE system has been warped. It holds a data bank full of possibly great missions. But I am positive that most of the missions being run are some sort of farm.
I'm glad that some 30s cartoon creator plays the game and developed a missions that the dev rated #1.. But the greatest mission creator is that 15 year old kid that allowed you to farm some green blob called joe and got you from level 1 to level 20 in 1 mission.
Just get everyone on one system.. Give people a reason to run and complete missions and not farm them.
I really feel it will allow players to actually play their characters instead of the 2 games within Cox called Farm and Market.
-
Quote:LOLGood point, problem "Random" roll... Withh my luck, might as well pay stupid price or go out and get the drop myself...
What devs could do? Is take out the stupid random, and let you simply buy what you want, to include recipes as well... Well they could leave the random for those who like to gamble, but for those such as I, who do not gamble, the option to buy what you want is very much preferable.
Stormy
I get it.. Your trying to make sense...
PLEEEAASE try your jedi mind tricks someplace else..
This is CoX, where pretzel logic prevails.. UP is not down.. Up might be right but it can also be left and sometimes it can be up.. But when you least expect it .. Yea you got it.. it's down..
They want you to FARM for ticket.. They want you to FARM for Merits. But it's not farming in the Dev's eyes.
Instead of trying to figure out why people are creating silly AE Farms and fix that underlying problem, they would rather try to fix the ability to farm. What's that saying too busy to cure the ailment when your busy treating the symptom ?
Why not just give out merits for every mission and just make AE for people to create stories.. And then just give out merits for the missions that people create in AE. OMG its just too simple.. We need some random luck thingy to happen.. Players don't know what they want until we tell them..
By level 50 a player should have enough merits to buy some unique type IOs or a few Purple IOs to get him started. Or buy some cheaper sets.. The rest they can get off the market OR continue to do missions.
Yes would people go back to doing TV farms for money and IOs. But they give up the possibility of merits for completing regular missions or TF / SF..
Could you imagine the devs with all of this..
Hey Joe lets do that new cool thing for the game.. It will be great everyone will love it.. Wait hold on phone call.. Hello.. Okay.. Sure.. Oh really !.. Ahh.. Okay..
Hey Joe forget that cool thing.. We need to spend the next week trying to fix that new way the players figured out how to farm in the AE missions.
Give players a way to build up something THEY want.. Give a reason to players to actually click the glowies in a mission instead of repeating the mission over and over to obtain something good.
Merits, Ticket, Tokens.. What next Shrubbery ? -
Just download and swap out Robots for Thugs. Viola !!! More defense then you can shake a stick at.
Here is the simple trick.. Anything that is traps this is the build. ANYTHING.. So you can use this on a defender.. On a Corruptor.. IF your looking for Defense cap stuff.
IF your gonna do Mastermind.. Raterro has a KILLER build. Because it has all of this and ALOT Of Damage bonus if you can afford what he is listing.. He mentioned he has 2 billion to play with. I might have 200 million..
http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=227434
That is the link to his thread which is on the same page just below yours..
Here is my build reworked off what he posted.
Since I swapped out Robots for Thugs the Power placement is going to be OFFFF.. So you will have to rework where you want your thug powers level wise..

Quote:The last build I posted does have provoke. which is what I was thinking as well. Thanks for the reply, I did forget to put that last blood mandate into that pet. Try as I might I'm having trouble deciding where to go with what it. I took hover, as a char definer, but its the one pool I think I might be able to forgo. Problem is not having a travel power. The other thing I'm torn on, is what's the point of having all the defense if you don't take provoke to get the bad guys on you. It seems like a wasteful pool choice but I can't seem to get around it.
Haven't taken a MM to 50 yet so most of this is just speculation. I'll check out that corruptor pain guide and see if I can find any nuggets there as well.
In a group not having provoke is fine. But when I want to solo with him I can see the issue as well becauseI am not putting out any DPS to hold aggro. So do I have enough to keep the pets alive is the next question ? Can I just Hover above the pets and spam heals to keep the pets alive. I don't know.. I don't think I can well enough.
Again that come from a lack of real knowledge of Pain Domination.
My DS/Pain is currently at 28. Once I finish up the Robot Traps ( currently at 43 ) I will play the DS/Pain for the first build without Provoke and work to save up some Merits to obtain some of high cost IOs for the last build I posted..
This way I can give a real answer as to not having provoke VS having provoke. Unless someone else at defense cap at 50 can relay some insight. -
Okay..
Did a rework of the above build.. I can see I messed up in some places..
Gonna say I think this build is a doable build. Ranged is at 44.9...

Here is another build, again a bit crazy and bastardized to achieve Smash lethal and Ranged defense cap. Swapped out Combat Jump for Provoke.
Again the concept is look at me and not what the pets are doing. Less they die the less I have to summon them..
Endurance ratio is not the best and Some key powers are just one slotted. If the force feedback proc in your attack goes off it creates a decent recharge for these powers though.. Again if it goes off.
It has some expensive IOs as well.
Maybe it can be a jump off point for something better.
I can see Provoke actually helping out the survivability of my pets with Robot Traps and I am only at S and L Cap atm. But I do not know how much it might be worth for this build.

Its similar to a build I have been posting up in regards to this question.. My original build was okay.. This is a newer build which has a higher recharge rate for some powers..
The old build and this one give YOU Smash, Lethal, Energy, and Ranged Defense Cap.
Your build was missing an enhancement in one of the pets. I guess you might have been considering putting a proc.
I'm a bit torn between removing or lowering the Smash and Lethal and keeping the Ranged Cap and work on some recharges for the build. But Smash / Lethal melee and AOE can be big. I consider these Melee pets. Further many of the Pain powers are close range and PBAOE.
My Kin has Smash and Lethal Cap only and I can see the Abuse he gets against Ritki. No matter how many purples inspirations I have, honestly they are never enough.
Also I have not seen any big info on Pain either here or on the Corruptors forums. I did see Silas has a guide for Corruptors Pain and I read that, but pretty much I am doing what he as saying. So either we are both off base or in the same ball park. The only issue is Pain is good when your have the powers at perma recharge. I do not think that is possible with a Mastermind without giving up the defense cap stuff.
End result no one notices what your doing.. They notice what your NOT doing. That white bar with a skull at the beginning of the name sticks out in a group of green.
Sadly any Mastermind that is not /Traps has less wiggle room to gain defenses and other bonuses.
So with Pain it is either getting a few powers like World of Pain and Anguish Cry to perma but loose out on Defense. Those are great powers.. BUT if your can not survive aggro because your defenses are too low then whats the point. Resistance and Bodyguard only help so much.

I have been looking around and searching I have not found anything solid on pain info. I get small tidbits of info, but to be honest nothing I would say is some solid insight into the set when compared to other sets.
I am looking at from a Mastermind stand point, but I figured it has been out for such a long time for Corruptors that I would find some decent info here related to the powers or even a guide in the sticky above. Sadly there is none.
So Anyone want to relay some insight that has any serious use for Pain that wouldn't mind sharing ? What is good, a must pick, and skip-able about the set ?
Anyone suggest any minimum requirements for the set ? Meaning either slot Soothe with a minimum of this or don't waste your time.
I have asked in the MM forums an even asked some basic one power questions in these forums with minimal responses.
I can work on transposing what I might need for a Mastermind. I'm just looking to get some insight on the set in general.
To be honest I just don't want to reinvent the wheel if someone has done the work already. -
I wish I could have a glowing belt buckle. like the chest piece..
also wish I could put a chest ICON on a belt also..
Yea and I guess I agree with the whole unlocking the eye glow from the mutant pack. -

Do you see an option for "Jetpack?" No? Then it's not a costume option.
Do you see a power in your tray or powers list for some sort of Jetpack? Yes? Then it's a power.
Does a costume option have any impact on performance? Can you fly because you have a cape or wings? No. Can you fly because you have rocket boots? No. Those are costume options, not travel powers.
Can you have two capes on your back at once? No. Why? Because it's one costume "anchor point."
Can you have a cape and a jetpack on at the same time? Yes. Why? One's a costume piece, one's a temporary power with a graphical representation that "anchors" there.
Once they have an ability tied to them - such as the goldbricker or sky raider jet packs - they become temporary powers. You may like using them as "part of" your costume, that's fine, but that doesn't make them a costume option from the game's POV.
Edit: When people come here and ask for jetpacks, do they ask for "Jetpacks as a costume option" or "MORE jetpack costume options?" They ask for the first - which is a pretty good indication they don't see temp powers as costume options, either.
I wish I had a Goldbricker Jet Pack to fly around with instead of just flying -
You know it would be cool if you could add Wrist / Bracers, Upper Arm accessories, Thigh accessories. Maybe even allow players to choose between left and right side also for those too. So you could have a shoulder slotted on one side but not the other ?
So you could put a knife on your right arm and a knife on your left leg and then some type of pouch on the other leg or a knee pad of sorts.
Hrm I think some other game has this option already, I just can't recall the name atm.
But anyways it would be nice if this game could do it eventually, some day in the near practical future have this option. Before some other game gets this and fills out all the missing content and such that would make it a decent competitor for the CoX franchise.
-
I would like to see the Option to just creating One super pet as a Mastermind.
Basically it is one pet that you keep upgrading. So each new pet would be an upgrade instead.
Think Malta Zeus Titan for robots , Frankenstein monster for Necro, Behemoth Overlord for demons, Super ninja or Knives of Artemis for ninja, Punisher for thugs. Just giving out examples to convey the idea.
Allow IO slotting in the Upgrades to improve the pets and attack powers of the pet.
I know anyone doing caves missions would love this.. -
Quote:Besides, any regulation is just going to meet what PVP IOs are seeing now. 2 billion cap? They'll take it off the market and sell it for 2+ billion (and avoid the AH taking a chunk of it.) If commons were restricted to - say - 20,000 INF or less, and Luck Charms are selling (blueside) for 50,000 or more regularly? People are going to sell them off-market
Quote:Even worse.
People are going to buy them out the market at the cap and sell them off-market. They'll be gone as fast as they are listed there.
Here is my spin on this..
Trust me I will make a point with all of this. Otherwise you can skip to here is the concept.
First off IO sets and the IOs within a set are classified by a color con. Obviously Orange cons in a set are more rare then white cons in a set. Same as white IO Sets are more common then the Purple IO Sets..
What would need to be done possibly is add an additional color to IOs within the set. Pretty much similar to the way it is now which is by adding the Purple Con to the most rare IOs from a set.
A perfect example of this is, we are not going to say that the +regen/+recovery from Numina's Convalescence is the same as the Endurance/Recharge from Numina's Convalescence. The whole set is Orange con. But the price range between those 2 IOs from that set could be as much as 100 million. I would have to say I would classify Numina's Convalescence +Regeneration/+Recovery as a Purple IO from the Numina's Convalescence Set. Even though it is coming from an Orange con set. This IO alone can and does sell higher then some Purple IOs, which for all intent and purposes are suppose to be rare and top of the line.
Now lets look at something else. Simply how many times have you gotten an IO from a set and went over to the market to see 150 of them listed for 500 inf each, only to see that a NPC will buy them for 1000 or more inf. Many of the temp powers fall into this category.
Finally how many have read either in this thread or in others on the market forum where, players were so rich that they would farm for tickets and just DELETE the useless IOs. It even wasn't worth their time to go to the vendor to sell them.
The Devs have tailored the game it such a way, that your almost forced to create some sort of Farm type character. Otherwise I would have to say I just can't believe the number of Brute Shields I see at the Black Market. I have run back to back Romulus runs in which both teams had more then 2 brutes and I was the only KIN. Point is Shields must be pretty cool looking or we have many players who farm in the game.
Or you have to start pretending to be a junior Donald Trump and play the Market game.
I don't believe this game just allows the average player to play his toon and maybe create a build or even copy a build someone might have seen on the forum he thought was cool and great without playing either of the 2 sub games within CoX which are Market or Farm.
Personally I have several 50s on both sides. Many of them are Defense cap toons which can run +1 +8 either AE or Paper missions. I have a Solo VG which is currently full to the gills with 18 Salvage bins and 2 IO bins full ( 200 created IOs ). I have meet players with 2 accounts and 3 VG full of Salvage. End result is I am exploding at the gills, but I have about 5 other 50s looking to make and do not want to get rid of IOs that I know I will either need or will help me level up another toon. Because when I sell them the IO's go for 5k and when I want to rebuy them they sell for 50k.. At least that is how I feel things work for me in this game.
Okay here is the concept
What if players were allowed to combine IOs of the SAME SET and CON to make another IO of the SAME SET either of the same CON or one higher or lower CON again from the SAME SET. Or five yellow or higher con color of the one set to make the white con of another set. For this the CON of the set would have to be Similar. So you would need 5 Regenerative Tissue Orange con set to make 1 white con IO from Numina's Convalescence which is a Orange con set, or 5 touch of death to make 1 Numina's Convalescence IO.
Five white con IOs could create 1 Yellow or 1 White Con IO.
Five Yellow con IOs could create 1 Orange or 1 Yellow Con IO or 1 White IO of the same set. Or 1 IO of another totally different set.
Five Orange con IOs could create 1 Purple or 1 Orange Con IO or 1 White or 1 Yellow IO. Or 1 IO from another totally different set.
Is five too little. Make it 6, 7, 8, whatever is reasonable.
Further there is no reversing. So no breaking 1 purple into 5 orange and then those 5 orange into 20 yellows.
How does this effect everyone ?
Well the Farmer now is either gonna throw them out as before or combine what he has to make a higher con IO or he might buy what he is missing to combine. If he deletes, nothing has changed for the farmer. But if he Combines to sell, well we just got one more higher con IO on the market we would have not had before. If he stops what he is doing to buy what he is missing to combine. Well guess what, he made a purchase from the market he would not have done in the past. Someone scored on this guys purchase.
The Market player. Well I could see some early issues. I can see someone running to buy up all the low end cheap IOs and just combine to make higher cons. Thus depleting the market of lower end IOs and flooding the Market with higher con IOs. End result having to choose from 10 Numina's Convalescence +Regeneration/+Recovery or 40 is probably going to make the value of Numina's Convalescence +Regeneration/+Recovery much cheaper.
End result I almost consider this like micro transactions. You will get more activity of people buying IOs across all platforms then just the high end stuff. You will have the rich guy that only sells purple IOs he makes from lower sets IOs and the rich guy that supplies the purple IO guy with those lower sets.
Those doing the market thing or doing the Farm thing loose nothing, but if anything have a new avenue to now exploit ( don't mean that in a bad way ). But this allows the average player to actually play a toon they want to play and slot them how they want to slot them without having to farm with another toon or spend time trying to figure out the new angle on the market.
Further getting more people willing to do a bit of everything but nothing to any extremes would open the door to maybe more people playing PvP if they had the chance to slot themselves properly to have a fighting chance in a PvP fight.
Personally I would like to get back to just playing my characters and not trying to figure out how I am gonna be able to slot them and how I am gonna get the money to do that.
I am pretty positive many scoff at the comment that the game or missions where based around Single Origin slotting and not Inventions. I know I laugh at that notion every time my Traps guy out lives and tanks the AV that the SO brute couldn't handle.
In summation
I believe that this will bring more players to the market and you will have more money flowing in and out. Every IO now has a value and even more value then before. No one player can cover the market with all the IOs out there, so you will not have 2 or 3 player monopolizing the market. A player buys all the whites from a Healing IO. I buy 5 yellows from a Mezz IO and make the white I needed from that Healing IO set.
Is it a perfect answer, by all means no.. I do believe it opens up another avenue for players to explore instead of being pigeon holed into farming for some purple IO or farming to make money to get that purple IO. Or having to rely on the market and to jump on the right time to sell those premade IOs for 600k that usually sell for 300k.
Let players be Super Heroes and Super Villains not Brokers and Farmer. -
I always enjoy seeing Oil Slick and the fire effect when it ignites. Who ever did the art for that did a cool job.
Disruptions arrow is pretty nice also. I know I hate it when the Long bow Nullifier use those Sonic Grenades on me. -
Quote:Are 2 defense IOs in the protector bots capping you ?
The protector bots bubble you with a bubble so you don't have to be above 45%. 34% is good enough. Just wait for the bubble. And you only need the positionals or the typed, you don't need both. The only hole is for untyped damage but everyone has that problem.
Here's my build which I've been very happy with. I could always take provoke but I don't need it. I'm not soloing AVs, just tooling around at +2x6.
All the pets are softcapped with 2 prot bubbles each except the protector bots themselves.
Well as you can see there are more then one way to skin a cat. I won't lie though I am not fond of waiting for the protector bots to buff me or having to rely on them when I can obtain it pretty easy with Traps.
But regardless I will say if it gets you to cap.. Then that's all that matters to me. -
Misunderstanding..
The build has 12 slots unslotted still to be placed. The OP has to put them where he wants or feels necessary. I didn't even look at what Thermal powers where picked. I figure I would let him decided what was important to him from Thermal. He didn't think Rise of the Phoenix was. Personally I want to make myself group friendly as much as I can. I can only imagine the looks on players faces when I say I can't revive them and they will have to try to make there way back from the hospital on stealth run. I'm assuming he is looking for solo play. And the defense aspect has no effect on his power choices in thermal for the most part.
13 if he wants to remove the Force Feedback.
Quote:Should have been more clear and mentioned the 12 / 13 available slots. You just need to slot the rest of the powers and pick what you want from Thermal
Hope it all makes sense now.
@FitzSimmons
I didn't look at the build yet. Just wanted to reply to the Range comment. I can agree with you. But ( You knew a but was coming ) as Smash and Lethal are the most common, I can see Melee Smash Lethal being a pain in the Backside. I don't know if people are classifying Demons as Melee or Ranged or Hybrid of both. But I see people calling them Melee pets. Being up close to heal even in a group to help the brutes I can see AOE that have a S/L component causing a player aggravation.
I'm no Thermal aficionado either. I would go to the Corruptor forums and do some searches there and ask a few questions myself before looking to see what I can get away with on the Thermal end. Meaning that is what I personally do. You can see I did that with some Pain questions. Even then I wasn't getting many solid answers. -
Quote:Libb I have no issues with you.. But if your testing, it's obvious your not playing. If you played them on a regular basis you would without a doubt see what is going on.Yes I have. I tested strategies before posting. I play lvl 50 Bots/FF, lvl 46 Zombie/Poison, and lvl 28 Thugs/Dark. Albiet it was late the night I tested and I only had time to try Bots. But I've had Pets of some kind since CoV was released; with the Pre-Order I was sure to be there opening night.
You're doing something wrong I guess? I get positive results with both GoTo and Stay.
And I do not see my ranged pets acting as Brutes UNLESS targets are lured into melee via team mates. In such events I use some of the tools in FF to keep them ranged.
One problem I've noticed for a long while now is that they're not speaking when commanded to. But don't lecture me that I think I'm l33t or noob and/or speaking to inexperienced children. I don't claim to be l33t, I never did. A player had an issue here and I tried to help end of story. IF this is a known issue then IMHO devs are aware of it and posting here requesting a solution when DEVS can't resolve it is fruitless.
Get your 50.. Set up your diff to +1 +8 or +1 +6. Go into the mission and ask your pets to attack from Range and see what they do. I am positive you will see your pets running into range while others stay back to attack.
If I am suppose to be the Master and Controller. Then IF I tell my pets stay even when I am getting attacked. That is what I want them to do.. IF they are in defense mode then I want them to attack IF they are in range but still STAY as I commanded them. I'm the MASTERMIND, not them..
You know maybe in a team I want to absorb some damage via bodyguard mode with the pets, to maybe help out the group for some crazy reason. So if my Tier 1 pets end up getting destroyed because of the DPS distribution, so be it.. Again it's should be MY option.. And not that they rush in to attack even when commanded to stay and out of line of sight around the corner or something.
I have no issues with controlling them, persay. If my robots would stay in defense mode inside my Force Bubble and just attack mobs that came in range or attacked me. It would be great.. Sadly they do not do that, instead they rush into combat. Yes they usually fire off a ranged shot before running in, but end result is they run in. So I end up having bots all over the place, instead in one general area.
