This is how my Demon Summoning/Thermal is currently slotted. I hope to land some juicy Luck of the Gamblers and other Procs for Manuevers. I will probably put six slots in Melt Armor. My patron I am not sure about, since I have resist shields. The Mu patron looks appealing.

If your interested in defense caps. This build will give you 45% in Smash, Lethal, Energy and Ranged. You just need to slot the rest of the powers and pick what you want from Thermal.

The one simple IO is the Steadfast Protection +3% to all Defenses slotted in Fire Shield, that is getting you to the Defense Cap. So Just make sure you slot that stead fast somewhere in your build if you don't want it in fire shield.

You don't need the force feedback in the lash attack.. But its cheap and helps your recharge for powers.

But Everything else is pretty much a must stay to keep your defense cap. Meaning the powers that are slotted.

So Force Feedback can go.. And Stead Fast Protection must stay..

I can appreciate having soft caps defense on a mastermind. It's tough to swallow only one slot in forge, heat loss, and melt armor.

Plainguy,

You're sacrificing too many powers to get all those softcaps. For an MM I've found you only need softcapped to ranged if you're going for defenses. I don't see the point in not taking cauterize.

I've had a lot of success (pve) either building out my MMs for +hp and +rech or softcapped to ranged.

Psylenz, he didn't put in all the slots, I think it was just a base example.

I just created a Zombie/Therm and here's the build I'll probably go with (first draft, power order not correct) based off of plainguy's example:

Misunderstanding..

The build has 12 slots unslotted still to be placed. The OP has to put them where he wants or feels necessary. I didn't even look at what Thermal powers where picked. I figure I would let him decided what was important to him from Thermal. He didn't think Rise of the Phoenix was. Personally I want to make myself group friendly as much as I can. I can only imagine the looks on players faces when I say I can't revive them and they will have to try to make there way back from the hospital on stealth run. I'm assuming he is looking for solo play. And the defense aspect has no effect on his power choices in thermal for the most part.

13 if he wants to remove the Force Feedback.

Quote:
You just need to slot the rest of the powers and pick what you want from Thermal
Should have been more clear and mentioned the 12 / 13 available slots.

Hope it all makes sense now.

@FitzSimmons

I didn't look at the build yet. Just wanted to reply to the Range comment. I can agree with you. But ( You knew a but was coming ) as Smash and Lethal are the most common, I can see Melee Smash Lethal being a pain in the Backside. I don't know if people are classifying Demons as Melee or Ranged or Hybrid of both. But I see people calling them Melee pets. Being up close to heal even in a group to help the brutes I can see AOE that have a S/L component causing a player aggravation.

I'm no Thermal aficionado either. I would go to the Corruptor forums and do some searches there and ask a few questions myself before looking to see what I can get away with on the Thermal end. Meaning that is what I personally do. You can see I did that with some Pain questions. Even then I wasn't getting many solid answers.

I recently got my DM/Therm up to 34 and the only other MM I can compare from experience was a Necro/Poison I took to 50. The damage my DS puts out trumps my Necro by a large margin. Being able to keep the boss pet and 2 LTs perma forged is awesome. I've run mission set to for 3 person +3 lvl mobs and besides the aoe heal aura here and there I dont do much else to keep the pets alive after buffing.

I wish I could compare Necro/Thermal to my DS/Thermal to see how much the pet difference would be but as far as Demon/Thermal, mine so far is very solid with just SOs and a -KB IO
