Like several here I tried it on a Necro Poison MM. My mind set was to solo 4/8 with this toon that people found impossible. I worked and reworked the build. I even started looking over the pet combat logs to see what the soul extraction pet was doing for each pet to see the differences.
End result I seen it was a waste of my time trying to do the impossible or nearly impossible, at least not without Incarnates and Barrier.
Now I am just looking to record the different Soul Extraction pets powers so I can post them up for others since I didn't see any other place that has this info for players. -
It was an OLD, OLD Build. But as he mentions he respeced into my first build.
-
Thanks all for the info.
@Roderick I didn't think of those. I did them long ago and forgot about them. My mind is shot sometimes. I get what your saying but it will take a few rereads to have the process sink in.
But without naming the person until I get the Okay. Someone read this thread and offered me one. I was a bit prideful at first but common sense sunk in and told me this person could have just not wasted their time sending me a P.M. and just pretended they never read the thread.
I want to thank them publicly, but I won't without their okay. They should get the praise and public adulation's they deserve. -
Quote:Aye it can be.Plainguy,
I just completed your expensive build and it is a bit on the endurance intensive side. I have to be careful not to overdo it or I'll tap out on endurance. However, that being said, this build is quite nice indeed. I'm still getting the hang of it but right now I'm using +3 Villians and at +4 Difficulity and surviving quite well. I'll try to push this a bit more once I get a better feel for the build.
Thanks again for your help.
I am doing 4/8 so don't be afraid. Again its not all mob types, but neither is anyone else. I am sure when most people say 4/8 they are not talking Carnies or Malta for example unless it is that type of toon that can.
Did you pick up the Alpha incarnate ? You can go Cardiac and just be done with the endurance issues. To me the only thing I might need is blue or a orange inspiration. I have Destiny Rebirth for "That wasn't so bright to do" moment.
How I work it is I have a key bind which is the zero key on the numpad that is all pet stay.
1. All pets stay.
2. I move ahead away from pets and set up Traps.
3. I might either use Seeker for the debuff or just eat a purple or a orange. Maybe put a red on the AssBot and then Provoke or both usually both. I usually place the Seekers above and behind the group. Sometimes they don't see them and get hit by the first one as I provoke and then get hit by second one.
4. The NPCs attack and the pets will run to attack them. I make sure the pets DO NOT get ahead of me. I simply try to make the pets like gun turrets. So I might be spamming all pets stay. It does interrupt the attacks but they usually attack right afterwards. Sometimes just giving the stay command gives the mobs time run in and then it is perfect because OG and poison trap have gone off and the pets end up attacking when the npc are on me.
5. After that I can get out of body guard mode and just have the pets attack some mob in the center of the group as I provoke and drop some Trap power.
6. I will also use the poison trap / trip mine combo to place a bomb if it gets hairy and I need some breathing room. Then followed up by Caltrops / Trip mine combo. The initial panic of Caltrop is usually enough time for me to place a bomb.
7. Nutshell pets are gun turrets for me to direct. I try to keep them in center of groups so the AssBot AOE will have max effect. I keep them behind me at all times. They benefit from Triage Beacon but are out of the range of NPC Alpha. This way if I am fighting a AV at most I loose my FFG which recharges fast enough to resummon. So I am at the tip of the Triangle that is the Triage beacon aura and the pets are behind the Triage Beacon. I try to keep FFG behind me as well. So I will summon it behind me at all times.
8. Remember just about every trap is a pet and will get aggro. So for example if your running a farm for any mission on 4/8 and your a scrapper you could pull the whole room on you. But only a certain amount will attack you because of Aggro Cap. Once one mob dies another will take its place. BUT this is different for Traps. Since each pet will pull aggro you will have several groups on you. Those that do not attack you will attack your FFG or Acid Mortar. So you need to be aware of your set up. Too many mobs can be a pain because they will make it almost impossible to drop a FFG without getting it attacked and destroyed. In those instances I eat a purple or 2 to cap out without the FFG and use the combo I mentioned above to clear out a few groups quickly. Or use my Incarnate Judgement combined with the combo to make some room on a bad pull.
One day, One day Stay will mean STAY and Robot Traps will be that much Stronger because you will have to deal less with pets micro management. -
Long story short.
Between work and bad luck I just wasn't able to do the summer event enough times to score one of those Procs. I tried to see if I could convert one but no such luck. End result even though I market a bit. I just am not that big of a marketer to be able to afford that IO. I might be able to buy one for the price they are going for But then I would be broke. Many of my builds are a mix of converters and Hero/villain merits along with sales of some higher end IOs. I just can't stomach myself to blow my whole bank account for 1 IO when the reality is I probably need 2 or 3 across all my builds.
So anyone have any insight if these IOs will be coming around again ? -
Some are smart enough to be able to create custom sets. Granted I am not one of those people. But Mids allows you to modify sets, I think it is in the options setting.
Again might not be perfect but sometimes it is good enough to give someone a decent over view until the update comes out. -

Here are some issues and questions.
1. I have no clue what if anything these pets offer you. As an example Protector bot offers you a Defense bubble, Thugs give you defenses via leadership, Demons resistances. I have no clue what if anything Beast does. I am assuming its all about the dps with them.
2. Force Field. I have no way of saying this beyond it just sucks. Its boring as heck. The only and only reason I have a Robot FF is first I had no clue how boring it was and secondly when I sort of decided to bring him out of retirement was because at that time you could Base Raid and I was part of a VG that would have weekly base raids. The bubbles where big for defense and offense because of the Force Bubble. Not may players has anything to prevent me from pushing them back. So hiding around a corner I could literally close off a hallway. I also had Teleport foe which was used to TP enemy and then the Brute would beat the snot out of them along with my robots.
3. Just about every Force Field player is pretty much the same with Aid Self to heal the pets and Aid Other for themselves. Granted you don't have that but it is obvious your still learning how even IOs work and how to get the most out of set bonuses. What you will come to learn very fast eventually is you have nothing to heal your pets. So you will resort to Aid Other and Aid Self.
4. Defense wise you will be short of defense cap I think for both you and the pets or maybe you just might be capped out.
5. Endurance will always be an issue because of the toggles you will be running. So your pretty much Pigeon holed into Cardiac for the Alpha.
I would honestly hold off on this to see what i24 brings. Maybe Nature affinity if it comes to masterminds might be better or the new 5th powers in the power pools might give you something to look at as well.
But regardless of all of the above let me go over some mistakes your making.
Luck of the Gambler is being over slotted. At most use 3. +Recharge, Defense and Defense/Endurance or Defense/Recharge for non toggle powers.
Fortify pack seems very much over slotted. You have the Numina Proc in that so it only goes off when you use that power. If you put in health it will have a chance to go off every 6 second.
Honestly I don't even know if you need that much recharge for Force Field. probably hasten and 2 LOTG + recharge might just do the work. I think you will be slotting Gift of the Ancients more then LOTG for the endurance bonuses anyways.
You want the endurance you recover to be at a minimum of 2 points higher then the endurance you use. So if your using 2 points of endurance you best be recovering 4. You could recover less but you would some sort of other endurance recover power like Power Sink to get back endurance. Unfortunately you don't have access to those powers as a mastermind.
Going back to set bonuses again. Tactics should be slotted with 6 slots of Gaussian for the plus 2 to all defenses if anything.
When using IOs you should be working towards something. That something can be defense, recharge, recovery, regeneration or mix of of one or two. Right now you don't have much going on that standard SOs wouldn't do.
Since your going Force Field the logical step would be to try to cap out some of your defenses. So that is where you probably should be working towards with set bonuses.
But in the end I would steer away from Force Field and maybe go towards dark or time or even traps, though I get theme wise beast traps can be tough concept. -
Quote:Enhancement Boosters on Tactics slotting and a Kismet +Acc will put you a small yellow away from the threshold.
I don't know about anyone else, but I'm swimming in yellows most of the time because they don't do much for you after you have enough accuracy through slotting.
First one is To Hit Buff and second one is To Hit Buff / Recharge.
No Kismet.
Unless I am misunderstanding that is 22% and a bit over.

I would look at Device.
The IO sets bonuses will allow you to set up for Range cap Hover blasting fairly easy. Caltrops will be good for keeping mobs away from your area even though your hovering.
Again because of the IO set bonuses this offers you some decent numbers. -
Don't take Detonator.
There are TONS of other powers you can use. Trust me when I tell you I didn't even use it on my DS Traps Semi Petless mastermind and that was the whole theme of having the demon blow up for me. The damage was so minimal that the temp hand grenade does more damage then that power. You would think purposely blowing up a Henchmen should be doing double the DPS of Time bomb or something but it isn't. -
Quote:No because the undead pets I do not think are offering a resistance power like the Tier 2 Demon is or like Protector bots do with their bubble. So they don't benefit.I haven't found this anywhere, so I thought I'd ask,
If I slot a Ribosome Exposure in a pet, will it boost the inherent resistance of the pet?
As in, if I slot a Ribo in Zombie Horde, will the zombie pets have higher resistance?
Of course you could test this out with a 2nd build like I did using Single Origin Enhancers. -
Quote:See sometimes I do work and contributeInterestingly, the pet resistance power for demonlings in City of Data show the resistance powers are not tagged with the ignores enhancements flag. I just checked, and Zombies are also missing the tag for their resist power. As far as I know, I think that means they would be enhanced if you could get enhancements that enhance that aspect, like with HO's. I think City of Data pulls values from the games files, so the tag should be correct. Does anyone know if City of Data is wrong on this, or if there is some other reason the resist enhancement wouldn't work for the pet's innate resist powers?
Also interestingly, the T2 pet for demon summoning does have the tag on its innate resist powers. I would guess this is because it is actually supposed to take resist enhancers, and the devs didn't want you to enhance their innate resists at the same time you enhance their shields.

OHHH, NM
I thought this was gonna be another female pet thread.. -
Quote:I hear ya. I have some builds that really have no resistances. But I have other things going in the form of heals that help out. But to me I'm willing to accept the cascade failure. And yes some mobs really give it to me because they debuff me down so much I am really naked with minimal defenses and no resistances. But over all for regular content I kill things so fast with some toons its not an issue.Plainguy, I gotta slightly disagree with you. The way you are stating it is that Defense is absolutely better than other forms of mitigation. This game has ways around all forms of mitigation, so the best thing to do is to layer your defenses (Def, Resist, -Tohit, -Dam, etc).
I know in your post you actually do this while talking about your builds, but I just wanted to make it clear to the Originator of the post that this is a better way of going about things. Not a problem here as Time/DP has lots going for it anyway.
That said, yes Defense is usually the easiest thing to work on with IOs and is usually recommended as a first to add. And I agree.
But I will say if I had a choice between getting a 45 in Range defense and 0 resistance on my blaster or getting 35 Range defense and 30 resistance then I will go for the 45 / 0 option. Even Adeon Hawkwood pushes the 35% number and I just disagree. It was him and Biospark who showed me defense cap.
So if anything it is their fault for the monster I have become. -
I suggest you look up Linea Alba build that soloed ITF as it might give you some insight as well.
-
If you accidentally drink some, you can call 1-800-POISON
-
I have a range, Force Feedback and a damage proc in it.
The range does seem sort of short for me and the recharge seems a bit long. -

The answer is still no, but you get a golf clap for the college try.

BTW we will be holding a petition in front of portal corps lasting for 1 hour then we are heading over to the beach by the Arena area for some fun. For those interested. -
Let us not forget that even though the Kheldian player might have left the team an hour ago, the bad guys still thought he was there. So it wasn't just the Kheldian feeling this love.

@Mid_Boss
So you know your 10 points short of defense cap for yourself. Though the pets are capped. -
