    Solo MoITF

Do you need someone in your TF ?

Is there a way where you could have them all join and then quit or just log out but not quit ?

And if all of that does not make sense. My simple question is what is the easiest way of getting this accomplished solo without hindering anyone or wasting their time hanging around for 40 minutes.

    Of course Congrats BTW.

I just have a bunch of toons I would like to try this out with and trying to get someone or bribe someone to be in the team just isn't going to work every time I am ready to do this.

I just found this thread/forum...hope that explains my inactivity. You could have asked and I would have told you, but I can tell that you have a lot of free time, so cool.

I think my point was/is clear...I feel your reaction about a new forums venue seems overkill. Its the formation of a new place on coh.com to post builds, not a philisophical debate on the differences of modernism VS postmodernism perspectives of theology in a society where the need for a god figure seems to be less necessary. You are putting a lot of weight into a topic that seems very meh to say the least.

Im simply baffled by your posts in this thread because you seem soooooOOOOOOOOooooo mad. Examples that I hope visualize my point:

"This is totally ridiculous. Its as if your just making stuff up to justify your existence."
Refer to the soooooo mad statement above...

"I have never in this game had a dev, moderator, or GM ever do anything helpful for me. To me they are like false prophets and snake oil salesmen."
    lolsooooooooooooooooupset...

"Its not nerd rage. Its lack of common sense on the side of those that make these silly decisions."
Actually, this is the epitome of nerd rage.

"They want to add another forum when they can't even moderate what they have now. I personally tagged over 40 threads and posts that violated forum rules and policy and have went back a week later to see nothing absolutely done about it."
You tagged over 40 posts? Really? Like I said, I want your life because you have the time, energy and inclination to tag interweb stuff.

I could continue quoting, but I hope you can pick up what Im putting down at this point. All Im say is that you are very very very upset over this idea. If its such a bad plan as you have pointed out...isnt it simpler to just skip this area and continue operating as usual? Especially in light of all of your real world activity...the amount of time you have spent here with such a negative viewpoint seems so unbalanced.

edited - I think you would be an excellent political activist
You see, you can call it what ever you like. But unless your personally next to me viewing my actions and emotions you can't say I'm upset one single bit.

Again to me, I reiterate to me the devs and mods are just another extension of the market for this game. Its all about the dollar nothing else, and if you really think its something else your a bit naive.

As for the flagging post thing you took that out of context for your own spin. Because the next few sentences clearly state I wouldn't get into it as it was my own personal reasons. Further not for nothing you make it sound as if flagging a post takes 10 hours to do when it takes a minute. But again its my own personal reason why suffice to say the post were clearly in violation of the forum rules and I wanted to see what the mods did. Finally some of those post were with a 2nd account I had in my possession for a short time testing something totally different out in game.

But what you decided to do is make it personal comparing my postings to a petty issue or complaint and if I was only so concerned with real life issues as I was with forum issues the world would be a better place. Unfortunately for you I do my share, heck I know I do more then my share. Remember you brought up the comment not me. I'm just addressing your concerns.

You say you don't have the time because your such a busy man but you seem to be able to reply well enough and you seem to reply well enough in other threads. So I have no clue why you would try to pretend as if your time was so valuable that you can't spare you time wasting it on something like this. "Oh if I only had your time to waste it all away posting here", but wait I do so let me retort to your reply. Either you don't have the time to post or you do. But don't faint one then do the other.

See I will post just to debate, I don't care.
    I have the time.
I don't pretend not to have the time and then post. I have the time and will.

Maybe you should take your own advice and stop wasting your time when you could be posting someplace else.
Like per say in the forum itself helping out another player with their build..

As for the posted sentiment that some have brought up that you have to pour over thousands of MM/Blaster/Brute builds to look for a Troller specific build...try using the Search function, its the bee's knees.

I can see the concept behind this as explained by the red names and dont think anything malicious or silly in making the decision. You either use it or you dont...not sure what the big deal is.
This is coming from a guy who has posted zero help in these forums ?? At least I contradicted my words to help someone out.

Didn't you ever hear those in glass houses shouldn't throw stones ?

I just did a search of your postings and your in every place but here. Matter of fact this is your first post in this forum.

    So whats your point ?
You like it and you agree but you won't help anyone out ?
Please don't come to square away my home when yours isn't in check.

And yea I have it good. Because I bust my backside so my wife and kids can have it good. On top of all of that I do donate money and my time for inner city kids in NYC. I've been doing it for the last 21 years without any praise or recognition and I will continue doing it. I've shaved my head for the last 5 years for cancer patients. So please, please, please don't assume to know me even for a minute.
  4. With Robot Traps there is just 2 ways to get defense cap. Either with the pets assistance or via set bonuses. They both have there advantages and disadvantages, but at the end of the day its really not that much of a difference and both can accomplish the same thing. If anything I think during incarnate missions it might matter a bit because defense cap plus pet bubble gets you closer to incarnate defense cap. Again I am sure others will bring defenses as well which will help you out, so not end of the world.

The protector bots slotted with 2 defense IOs will give you 12% bubble correct ? I believe they do and I am assuming such.

I have become a big fan of Oppressive Gloom because of how much it helps out so I would lean to getting it. But having 2 heals in the form of aid self and triage along with Aid Other is not bad also.

Here is my build for comparison in the opposite direction. I've just been in too many situations where having pets was an issue and I wanted to be able to solo without the pets when needed. A simple example is the warehouse during LAM. Eat 2 purples and just run around. I usually summon the pets more for a distraction to protect other players or to aggro groups for alpha during that part.

End result I just can't sit here and say OMG this build sucks go cry in a corner. In some ways I really do like the Aid other and Aid Self.

  5. Post your build.

Maybe your build just sucks and needs some reworking.
Unless its a RP build and your stuck with what you got for RP reasons. Then either you need to make the build and create the RP around that build next time or deal with what you got if you can't change the build for some reason.

I understand what your saying and all but I would like to see the build as well.
  6. plainguy

    Melee Crab?

    Looks like a good build.

Not a major issue, but you think you can get fire and cold 2% higher at the sacrifice of energy negative. At least this way you will be fully typed defense capped. You can put Maelstrom in Longfang and Multistrike in frenzy to cap out.

I moved some IOs around to show you. Nothing crazy. I'm not to sure about the LOTG+recharge IOs since your not perma hasten. It all helps I guess.

I also removed vengeance and placed super speed with stealth IO. It will allow you to run into a group of mobs unnoticed for the most part and start your attacks first. Regardless you will get more out of SS then you would Vengeance. Stealth runs, Jetpack+SS stealth runs. I have vengeance on a Huntsman but only because I needed another LOTG+recharge for perma pets.

You will without a doubt need cardiac regardless of which build your might consider.

Further I don't know how much you worked this build. I would suggest remaking the build a few times to tighten it up. I went in several directions and was able to make changes so to me it still needs work until you get a final build. Also I would look or attempt to get positional defense cap to see if it is possible and compare the numbers you get.

As an example you might want to six slot endurance with efficiency adapters for the recharge and endurance bonus.

Again if you can still make all those changes and not modify or improve the build it isn't done and needs to be reworked. Compare what it looks like 4 or 5 slotting compared to 6 slotting a power DPS wise.

Some of these include the LotG +def/+7.5% increased recharge speed, Miracle unique, Numina's Unique, and Karma -kb. While any of the 4 could be placed in Vengeance only 2 of them make any sense to place in the power ... the LotG +def/+7.5% increased recharge speed and the Karma -kb. The Miracle or Numina's would almost always be mistakes as they are "Proc 120's" meaning they are only active after the power is triggered and for 120 seconds thereafter meaning you'd have to use or activate Vengeance every 120 seconds or less to get the benefit from either a Miracle +recovery or the Numina +recovery/+regen. The Karma and Luck of the Gambler work differently acting as if they were set bonuses ... active regardless if the power they are slotted in is active or not, they are dependent on whether you are currently no more than 3 levels lower than their level (just like any set bonus (non-pvp or Purple sets that is)) to grant their bonus.

    Correct and excellent point

Again once a person decides to not play the game for a few hours and decides to read up on the game it literally ends up being game breaking.

There were two characters I had with a mix of sets that I was able to improve dramatically just by swapping sets around and buying 2 sets of thunderstrike when I started figuring this stuff out.

It makes the game much more fun and much more boring at the same time. Its great in the beginning because you go on this Mids binge of fixing up all your toons. Once that is done your now testing then out and kicking up the settings to the top. But then after a while you find it hard ( at least for me ) to make toons any other way. But its cool to have Blasters, Defenders, Masterminds, petless mastermind, Veats that can solo some sort of 2/8 to 4/8 setting.

Right now I am trying to play around with Regeneration ( not the set )and resistances to see what I can do with it just for a change of pace.
  8. After getting Overcharge at 32 I think with IO slotting and using build up it will be a nice group killer with the bonus of no crash and decent recharge.

What I am also starting to notice on full teams is that when I can get disintegrate followed by snipe to get the spread ( assuming it works, I currently bugged it as I noticed several times that disintegrate followed by snipe is not giving me a spread as described ) Then followed by Build up and Cutting Beam its a pretty decent opener.

Currently in SOs only I am seeing some decent results with Beam Nrg at least.

Piercing Ray is a pretty decent high damage attack as well. I feel I am getting more targets with that narrow cone then I do with my DP narrow cone attack ( forgot the name sorry ).
  9. Okay I've seen comments on -1/0 settings, which I think I can throw toilet paper at mobs and complete this setting.

I would like to up the up the ante and ask what players are doing on the opposite end of spectrum of a 4/8 settings, no Malta and no DE of course.

Right now I am running AR Device for this.
  10. Misson Architect
    • On Mission Architect maps, using multiple Ambushes will result in reduced rewards for Ambushes past the first. The first spawned Ambush will give full rewards, the second will give 75% rewards, the third will give 56.25% rewards (75% of 75%), and continuing to diminish to the cap.

    • Gun Drone can now be used while the character is in mid-air.
    Nice to read that.

  13. Was just playing my Beam Nrg on a team. What noticed is with a good tank and your fast enough you can target the boss disintegrate and then snipe for the spread. The issue is when the tank does not have enough aggro and your spread pulls aggro to you. With limited defenses or range defense your really taking a beating as your leveling up to the spot to start placing IOs for the set bonuses.

My best guess is 35 will be the sweet spot where you can pick up boost range. My issue/hope or worry is of course is using boost range then disintegrate followed by the snipe is going to cause the group to move where the spread will be less effective.

I get what Gemini_2099 is saying about ignoring the spread. But it really is an integral part of what Beam is about. I think you either have to make a conscious effort to incorporate it or your just better off picking up a different type of blaster.

Again I'm just going along for the ride to try something new and see how it goes. I will probably play with the build and see what is the minimum level I can get close to obtaining Range defense cap and work from there. I'm 7 bubs away from Overcharge (32). Maybe once I pick that power up things might get a bit better as I will have another multi target attack. I just haven't had that warm fuzzy feeling with Beam yet that I get with my other toons when I feel they finally have come together.

    Thugs / Traps

I was thinking maybe dropping MU fences for Burnout. You could start the AV fights with double Triage and Double Gang war. I don't know what your current recharge is but I would guess enough to get another Triage beacon out eventually. Which within the first 90 seconds you could have 3 triage beacons out. It would be cool if you had barrier incarnate to cap out all your pets and Gang war defense wise. It would be one heck of a way to start a fight.

    Okay..

I would do a search for Force Field or FF on the Defender forum. See what you find.

Your not going to of course find that much on beam. But I would say look at the Arch Types that can use beam and see what players are saying.

Your new so no matter what anyone says, your just too excited with the character builder and all the new stuff. Your going to experiment to find what you like.

If your Free to Play your stuck using Single Origin enhancers which are commonly called SO. So inventions are a moot point. Good thing is slotting powers really isn't much of a thought. Damage attacks are commonly slotted 3 damage, 2 accuracy and maybe and endurance redux or recharge. Never go over 3 of the same with SO because they loose value over 3. But before slotting a power it will show you what you get from slotting it.

If your a pay account then you can use inventions and your either going to have read up on the game mechanics to understand the math behind the game or be at the mercy of another forum poster when posting a build. So you have to hope someone looks at the build and comments on whether its good or not or even knows. Otherwise you end up with a crappy build that you thought was good because some stranger said so.

There is no real easy or quick answer anyone can give you. I think like many your gonna make toons and wonder why you made them and see how much they stink. Then there are toons you think might stink but just where playing "wrong". Basically you didn't get the grasp of the game mechanics for that set, which happens. I have a 50 Regen Broadsword scrapper I just never got the hang of.

I would say stay away from beam rifle for now and go with a Traps Rad or Traps Sonic. Traps has some cool stuff and even with SO you will be at about 25% Defenses which is good ( if you read my links you will learn why ). Sonic and Radiation both have debuffs within their attacks, which will help you and your team mates out and works well with the debuffs that traps has to offer. Of course Traps will help you out and your team mates out as well.

End result its a solid build to work off of and do many great things with. Which will allow you to eventually explore new avenues with other builds.

    ??/Traps

    Rad does seem nice..

Traps is a up in front of the battle lines type of build. Rad works nice because it has the AOEs, no Knock backs and nice debuffs that sit well with Traps.

On top of this you get defense cap.

You might not want to be an AV/GM killer but you will be.
  17. I just don't see the point of the build as well.

Are you aware this build is probably going to cost you over 6 BILLION ?

5 Slotting Caltrops with Javelin Volley ?

2 Endurance redux in conserve power ?

Burnout ? For what ? To be able to cast 2 Triage Beacons every 7 minutes ?

Lets assume you have this money, because its not far fetched. Or you were really lucky and just happen to have these IOs for some reason.

The question is why would you put those IOs in this build to obtain defense cap when you could put them in something much, much better. Unless you consider this slumming compared to some of your other builds.

To me you just putting stuff together and love the color purple because you think its cool.

Look if you want a gold toilet bowl by all means get a gold toilet bowl, but at the end of the day your gonna use it for the same thing I am going to use mine for, Just I didn't pay someone billions to sit on the throne.

    Penny wise and Pound foolish.
  18. Honestly from real life game play at this point. I wouldn't try making a support toon unless its for my support, the heck with everyone else. I could see the need 6 or 7 years ago. But today too many builds and archtypes cross over into other archtypes. The game itself has become too generic.

There are many players that can solo 4/8 setting, myself being one of them. I just don't really need your bubbles. If I can solo 4/8 and I can get together 3 other players that can do 4/8 for a total of 4 all I need is 4 fillers for just about any TF or SF. When I made my Robot FF Mastermind I didn't make it because the bubbles helped my team mates, I picked them because they helped my pets.

Make a toon that can survive and be self sufficient. This will benefit the team much more. Whats the sense of you being able to bubble if you can't take a punch. Dead players don't give bubbles.

I think you need to make a build and look at the numbers. See if it offers some good benefits.
  19. I think beam is suitable for a more established player. It's not a toon I would consider to be my first 50 blaster let alone my first 50 toon.

I don't think the mechanics behind disintegrate and the spread are the best and could have been better thought out. I find it annoying that I need to keep incorporating disintegrate attack into my attacks. It ends up you get wrapped up trying to get the spread instead of killing mobs off sometimes. The mentality becomes if I can get the spread I can kill them all off on this next shot. But the spread never comes sometimes.

I consider it a toon I would make to see how it is because I can afford to do that. If I don't like it, it can just sit at the bottom of my character list with some other 50s I didn't like.

I have one at 28 and I'm just trekking along to see how it works out at level 50s with the IO build I have. If it stinks I strip it down and it sits in the back until I think they fixed it.

    Those are the tricks.
    Which is good your asking.

I have seen players pick up vengeance just to slot LOTG+Recharge, which at first I was wondering why but of course once I looked at the IO I understood why. I have it on a VEAT Huntsman build which is hardly used. But I need it to have perm hasten without any purple sets.

Genhawk, just so you know I had to pick up Cardiac for the Alpha, but it really, really helped out TONS. It just about makes me non stop. Lets put it this way. Either NS and Siege are weak to S/L or I have to be doing something right to be pulling aggro from them.

I completely understand your hover issue. You could use a Jetpack instead. But so you know. Super Speed has its own stealth component which adds with Cloaking device. Which means your that much "stealthier", add in smoke grenade and you can blind snipers and rikti drones, before you run by. But other then that you are pretty much invisible to the rest of the mobs in the game.

So you could stand near a bunch of Freakshow or CoTs or whatever and not be seen unless you get hit with a AOE unintentionally that reveals you. So you can speed to the end of a mission ( Think TIP missions here ) and finish them off. If you have the Vet Assemble team you can do that on certain missions as well. Or even just showing players the route to take to get where they need to be on the map.

But if you don't have super speed you will be noticed even with a stealth IO in super jump. You could even turn on hover and super speed at the same time and benefit from the stealth. So you could hover around in a cave per say and still be invisible to mobs. Nothing better then getting into a cave and being able pick where your fight starts. Tunnel too close and narrow start in a higher cave and pull the mobs into the cave.
  21. Here is my build for comparison.

Your Cloaking device will be suppressed and you will loose half the defense value it offers. So if you look at the Defense number listed its 2.76. When not suppressed you get double that. So when it is suppressed you only get 2.76 to your defense. You need to subtract 2.76 from your 43.9, which is 41.4. Not defense cap but not the end of the world.

I was gonna babble on but nutshell I think you have to beat my build if not then stick with my build. Only way your gonna do that is going with Nethergoats build but you need 2 billion for a PvP IO. One day I will do it. I have probably the 2 billion but it would nearly clean me out. Not gonna do that.

  22. Anaxibia

You seem to be a bit all over the place. Your jumping from build to build, your knocking the top Primary robots and by your own words your saying you don't know.

So I would suggest reading tons of the threads here to see whats going on and to get a feel of what some of this is all about. It will also open your eyes to some build techniques.

I would take the time to learn the game mechanics ( my sig ) so you can understand what the numbers mean and why these sets are important. Otherwise your really not gonna understand anything someone post and you won't know when someone is posting something bad.

Robot Traps and Robot Dark are the king builds because of the game mechanics around them. You could go Merc Traps because it allows for defense cap and double maneuvers. You could really go anything Traps because of defense cap. But again you need to know what defense cap is and why it is important.

If your gonna play with your heart, which is fine. Then you need to expect and accept some limitations. If you can deal with those limitations then your fine. But if your expecting your Undead Time to do what a Robot Traps does then your gonna be in for a let down.

Sadly this game is not I want to be a super whatever archtype but I want to do it with these powers. It just does not work that way. If you want some super solo build then you pretty much have to pick the powers that allow you to do that in each archtype and you have to create the build and pick the powers that lean to be able to do that. End result there are not much difference between 2 defense cap robot trap players. You might have 1 or 2 power differences or some minor slotting differences, but they both numerically offer the same thing.

Just take the time and see what you really want or want to do and go from there.
