  1. That power boost buff only last a few seconds.

Look Poison isn't a premier set as its single target. I was just looking a few days ago across the boards regards to making a poison toon. I went back about 1 year through the various forums just getting ideas and looking at builds and reading up on the set to see. End result I didn't hear anything good beyond its good against AVs.

I posted up a build in a zombie poison thread on this page. To me after messing around a bit more with it. I think my build is a good build simply because with one purple inspiration I can cap out ALL my defenses both positional and Typed. My S / L after adding in slot enhancers is 44.3 which is .7 off cap. I have no issues with that. I can drop out the vet pet and cap out or get a lucky with mutation. But that is just me because its my build. I've done many defense cap builds and I will accept the chance for cascade failure. Especially when its so rare to happen. I could get it twice in a night and not have issues for days afterwards.

Your capped for S / L but later on you will get hit with stuff other then S / L and its gonna be noticeable when you don't have the defenses to protect you, let alone the resistances as well.

Once I pick up incarnates it will cover up any deficiencies. I would probably go with some endurance redux and barrier to cap out the pets for the initial attack.

So you need to explain what you envision you and your minions are going to be doing. Are you looking to take on missions on a 4/8 setting solo ?

    Pet AI Potential

They might fix masterminds or they might not..

Sorry I just don't have any faith
  3. Why are these people so darn lazy that they can't even produce a video to show you. Are they that embarrassed about it that they just want you to buy it blind. I need to go to a players you tube page to view a video they where nice enough to show. I mean I just don't get it. These people just don't have a single clue how to promote this stuff.

I'm also with Winterminal regarding the comments related to old travel powers.

Whats the next travel power a wheel chair ? Weasel ? Alpacka ?

Words just cannot describe how lame this thing is.

Another game is pumping out a dozen different weapons in a week and it takes these guys months to produce a coyote travel power. The coach called and said to tighten up your chin strap. Come on wake up and get into the game.

    Demon/Poison?

I think the first page has a thread or two related to demon poison going on. I would take a look at those and see if they answer any of your questions.

Just remember you cannot created a concept build without sacrificing. Of course unless the ideal powers just happen to be in your build.

The big issue with Poison across all the Arch Types its very single and lacking. I was just looking to do a poison toon on another AT and I went back about 1 year with the searches. I just did not read anything good unfortunately.
  5. Neither build is defense capped and they should be via powers and set bonuses, so no vengeance gimmicks.

You should have Triage Beacon as you can have 2 of them out for 30 seconds and get a regeneration over 1k. But over 500 on average.

Try not to break the rule of 5 that much.

Poison Trap should have the lockdown proc in it.

Nutshell with Traps think Positional defense cap and recharge.
  6. 1. With Traps regardless of Arch type you can get full positional Defense cap via set bonuses. If your not obtaining that your short changing yourself.

    2. In regards to your IOs. Have you checked the in game prices for some of those IOs ? If not maybe you should. If your gonna spend that kind of money you should have a good build.

    3. To gain Defense cap you do not need any PvP or Purple IOs.

    4. After obtaining Defense cap your next course of business is Recharge. With high recharge you can have double Triage Beacon ( which I will get to ), Double Acid Mortar and multiple poison traps out.

    5. Triage Beacon you don't have it and you should. With Triage Beacon slotted properly your regeneration with one out should be in the 500 range. With 2 out you will of course be over 1000.

Finally I am positive if you do a search for Traps in this forum you will find tons of builds that are better.

If you don't understand the game mechanics you should read up on info in my signature as it will help you understand what a good build and a bad build are. Otherwise someone will post a build and you not knowing better will think it is good. And then you will try to improve this bad build. Which in the end really just gives you a very, very, very expensive build that is still crappy.
  7. I've been reading some of what turbo ski and new dawn are saying.

I think a big issue with this game is the powers do not lend themselves to concepts. If a player decides to run with a concept then they better accept the compromise or they will have to create the concept from the build instead.

This game does not lend well if someone does not want to min and max. As I mentioned earlier on in this thread my TA Archer can solo 4/8, as some other mentioned as well. So what is the difference between my TA and someone else ? It is that I created the build to leverage some of the game mechanics and then created a story about the build. Where as someone else will make a TA / AR around a concept and then wonder why its not working right. A perfect example of this is people making comments and defending builds like Poison Beam rifle and Force Field Beam rifle and then admitting how crappy the build actually is in another thread. Or if not crappy as that might be a bad choice, but not up to par as they expected. Why ? Because they really didn't understand game mechanics or how a set works. They have these ideas but just do not know how to interpret the numbers. I know that because I was one of those players for many, many years.

Powers are going to suck if you pick up something like Oil Slick but do create the build to have recharge in it. Of course it sucks when your Oil Slick is only up every 2 minutes. But when its up close to every 30 seconds that now becomes a really cool power to have.

Fortunately on a full team one or two players weaknesses are usually not noticed. But as the team gets smaller and you are relied up a bit more it becomes more noticeable.

End result I think this thread has a bit of both, players honestly lacking some understanding and some powers that could use some tweaking.

I do agree that Oil Slick should have a slightly quicker recharge as should EMP arrow and poison arrow should just be like poison trap.

Personally I don't use EMP arrow unless I'm on a team or I happen to be farming and I fell into a bunch of blue inspirations to hold me through the no recharge issue.

The problem is EM is all single attacks. The one good power in EM ( or one of the few good powers ), boost range does nothing for your crashless nuke.

I could see you using boost range and then using HOB for the mobs that come into range. As a min max combo I don't think they go well together.

Look I know with EM you can get range cap so that's good. Might consider going 30s range cap and pick up scorpion shield and getting mid 30s in S/L. That will also boost up your Melee positional defense. You could then use purple inspirations to get your defenses capped.

What pretty much is bothering me is HOB gets nothing from EM and HOB is really your big power. So if you slot the melee attacks for melee defense or use Kinetic combats and then pick up the single attacks and slot them with thunder strike you might get some decent numbers. Then work with LOTG + recharge and Positron blast IOs for the recharge.

I have EM and I like it, I just don't feel it works well with DP as it does with other blaster primaries like AR or Archery.

This is something I quickly drummed up.. Mid 30s Smash, Lethal and Range. I guess you would boost range fire off your aoe and cones and then use HOB on those that close in for melee combat.

Again what bothers me is needing to rely on purple inspirations. You could cap out one defense either S/L or Range but then you will need 2 purple inspirations to cap your defenses in the lowest of the two. I would imagine it would be easier to make or get 1 purple inspiration then two when needed.

  9. First off the link is not working so even trying to view the source for the page is not showing the link. So you have something broken there. I would suggest posting up a Data Chunk.

As for the build or the thought on the build. I think your worrying too much about the team and not enough about yourself. I think when the game first came out this might be a cool build as it covers a bit of everything. But today I think you just don't need some of that stuff. I think if you want Aid Self for yourself I could understand. But having all those powers from that pool is not needed. I know many shield scrappers are not taking Grant Cover unless the IO set bonuses are going to benefit them and is required because they are trying to obtain some sort of defense or hit point cap.

You have jump kick and you have it slotted as if you are really going to use it. You have sprint 3 slotted. Luck the Gambler is over slotted in combat jump. Fly is over slotted. Siphon power is incorrectly slotted. You have stimulant when you already have increase density.

It is obvious that you could care less about game mechanics and that is fine. I do not think you can get a real answer for your build because you are really playing your build for yourself and not looking to max something out per say. So having someone comment on your play style build isn't going to give you answers I think you will like to hear.

Look its a cute build and it will certainly work on a team. If you just stood on a team doing speed boost, fulcrum shift and Transfusion you would be doing the job expected. As long as you stay out of the way in big fights and don't get aggro you should be fine. Game mechanics wise the build is not ideal and you have many wasted slots and useless powers. If you really want to know that stuff then I would start by reading the links in my signature and ask questions related to that stuff. Once you learned that stuff then come back and redo your build if you want.

Otherwise the build looks great from here because it isn't my build..

However I take offense with the above statement, particularly Mjr Johnson as an inappropriate name. By saying it is inappropriate you are essentially saying the second most common surname in America is inappropriate when coupled with a title.. Mr. Johnson, Mjr Johnson, Pvt. Johnson.. etc.. you are effectively saying that surname is obscene which is false. The interpretation of the person is the problem, not the name. I could easily make a Triad style Mastermind and name one or all of my minions Mr. Wang without being offensive as Wang is the 8th most common surname in the WORLD, and one of the most common in China hence it being fully fitting in with a Triad themed character.. and naming them all that would be tantamount to running an American mastermind that has all his minions named Mr. Smith. The point is, Johnson, Wang, etc.. are not offensive names, just because ppl often make a culturally specific reference to an inappropriate associated meaning to those names.

    You just made my point.

As much as we would like to believe that only few number of players would be abusing the whole gender and naming system. It will cause issues as you just mentioned. One player will misjudge a name and then call a GM. The GM then has to come to address the situation and then determines either the names are bad or the names are actually Okay. Regardless it required a GM to respond to make a judgement call. Wasting his time for something that wasn't an issue at one time and now is.

Sadly or humorously there are some real life people named some very interesting names. Names that would be very offensive if put in a different context. But nonetheless it is someones surname.

Now what. The player decides to fight the misjudgment call. What happens next ? Now more people are involved on a support issue that just is nonsense.

Look I'm sorry but the GMs are not so bright and the Devs make rash judgement calls. Without going into detail unless I need to. I was threatened with banning because a Dev and a Moderator made a very poor assumption. And only because I didn't back down and let them know I wasn't some kid they could scare did they even apologize. As much as it was a waste of time for them. It was a waste of time for me and it still pisses me off till this day. I was amazed at how this person thought he could bully someone around and speak to them as if Omnipotent.

I ask how are you going to quell these complaints ?
What is going to be in place to control the naming of pets and players?
What is going to be in place to determine that a players or pets name is good or bad?
What system is going to be in place to appeal a possible name change because a GM made a honest rash call?

To me just because a GM is not bright enough to think does not mean I need to suffer or be punished because of it. At the end of the day everyone has some sort of theme for their toons otherwise everyone or many would have a name resembling "mlsjfooh" and would be hitting the random costume button and just going with whatever comes out. So I surely do not want a GM to mess with my theme because they are too obtuse to understand.
  11. Just got 25 levels on a DP Dark.. I've been trying out spring and to me its pretty cool. But without a doubt with the PBAOE of soul drain is pretty good on a full team running 2/8. Its so good that using spring attack, soul drain, Bullet rain and Empty clips is getting me too much aggro that I am getting killed.

Death Shroud sucks so far straight and simple. I might swap it out for Shadow Maul. I just want to lay down as much aoe as I can though.

I read up that Spring attack with KB IOs does change Knock down to Knock back. So reslotted for damage proc.

Since Dark Consumption can accept Accuracy I am assuming it is not auto hit.. So will leave it as is, but will 2 slot it first to see how it goes. Maybe the endurance it gives back might be good enough.

Did a bit of reslotting now spiderlings are 30 seconds off perma.

Incarnates - Musculature, Reactive and Barrier.

    Hope this helps.

If your really set on EM then just swap out dark and fix what your short on set bonus wise.

  12. I have a Arch Nrg and a Ar Device.. Both doing 4/8..

I think AR Nrg would be pretty cool. Especially with Boost Range..
Nrg allows for Range cap hover blasting with Aid self.. What more could you want.

Since you dislike DP animation and already have an Archer. I would have to say that AR seems the best route to do something new.
  13. Take a slot out of Super Jump. Put winters in Super Jump and put the stealth jump IO in sprint if you like. It gives you yet another IO.

So you have 2 slots now. You could move the pet up and add a recharge IO to get that much closer to perma.
  14. After playing around with Dark this is what I am thinking of going with.
You can pick up Musculature for increased damage.

You have Aid self for healing.

Spring attack is a question I will research or ask in the general forums. If the KB IOs do in fact make it a knock back then I would switch the one IO in it for a proc. If the Knock down is pretty consistent and reliable then I would probably keep the force feedback +recharge and just swap that other FF for a recharge IO to have it up more often.

I do not know if Dark Consumption is auto hit or not. If it is auto hit then maybe 2 slotting it will give you yet another slot.

You have 1 slot left over to add some where. pretty much your probably relegated to adding a proc somewhere.

Destiny wise you can either go for full Defense / resistance cap with Barrier which is pretty good along with aid other. It really does make you massive while Barrier is up and running as it slowly fades. Or you could go again with ageless for the extra regeneration and emergency heal.

Also I was thinking you coud get rid of shadow maul and pick up the spiderlings. Slot them for the recharge bonus you just lost in shadow maul and now you almost have some perma pets. They are 60 seconds off perma.

I am thinking if you go with the pets I would go with Barrier because I have it on my SOA Huntsman with Barrier and it makes the pets super tanks. It would really go far to making your pets last the full duration. Otherwise your gonna come across those times where your summoning them, getting them killed in the first fight and cursing why you even bother with the power.

  15. I think EM is sort of limiting for DP because of how HOB works. If HOB were more like Rain of Arrow then I could say yes.

Piercing round how I get multiple targets is I step back which causes the mobs to line up as they charge me. But other then that as was mentioned your not getting much for multiple targets. If anything its a PITA because it goes through your intended target sometimes and hits another mobs in yet another group you didn't want to aggro. That has happen to me.

So your choices are utilizing boost range for single target attack styles and then using HOB for when mobs come in close. So you could go range cap hover blaster but there is an issue of having your HOB short ranged that your going to have to get uncomfortably close to the mobs to get HOB to hit. Again if boost range increased the radius less of an issue. This in turn means your going to get hit back with just about every attack an NPC will has at possible melee range. Not good since you don't have those defenses.

I'm thinking maybe having scorpion shield along with some range defense and using purple inspirations to cap you out on both Range and S/L might give you some survivability at both ends of the fight.

I would say pick another secondary like fire but of course you already have a fire / fire so whats the point.

I always thought about DP Dark with Scorpion Shield and Spring attack.

You open up with a spring attack knocking the mobs down and then firing off some buffs followed by HOB which is another knock down. Then bullet Rain. During your down times of HOB it would just be spring, buffs, bullet rain.

Also Dark Pit seems good for minion mitigation, I consider like Oppressive gloom. So I would spring then Dark Pit for the stun.

I would eventually pick up ageless for the heal and regeneration.

My issues / questions would be how reliable is spring attacks knockdown ?
Will slotting knockback IOs in spring now make it a knock back attack ?
Does Boost Range by chance increase the radius of an attack like hail of bullets ? Maybe Mids does not show the numbers like it does with some other stuff..

  17. You have no defenses and you don't have enough to protect and heal your pets. Alkaloid and Aid other just aren't enough. Your S/L resistances even at 50% are not going to cut it against the mix damage you get end game wise.

You need to get your defenses up and pick up provoke. This way you can fend off some of the incoming damage your going to be taking for the pets. I've been messing around with a poison build so I know its possible to get all your defenses in the mid 30s. That means you need one purple inspiration to cap out.

You might want to pick up Ageless and don't be afraid to use it.

This game has classes oriented as solo or teaming ?

I can solo 4/8 and AVs with all my Traps toons ( mm, corruptor, defender ) which include my AR Traps Defender. But then again just about all my solo and team oriented classes can at least solo 4/8 and not just traps.

Just goes to show you how different each persons perspective about power sets, Arch Types and play styles are.
  19. Just going to say that several people in this thread and on the suggestion forum thread mentioned female npc toons. An example is the last poster PsychicKitty. Just remember that these are NPC with scripted moves and commands and not under the control of players.

Personally I want to say this will never happen. But I'm smart enough to know never say never. But for many reasons I think this produces more work for them. Not the creation of them but the policing of them.

What many seem to be failing to see that you are going to create an increase in reporting issues. Not only for the names but for the emotes and scripts that smart players will be using. Yea you can generic a players name but you can't generic pets name. Unless your now going to request them to have that ability to punish abusers.

Again I have been asking for Gun Drone just be summoned while flying for years. They just fixed it

I've been asking for Group Fly fix for 4 years and counting. None of these are controversial debates or issues and they just addressed Gun Drone.

Your asking them to do more work just maintaining this and its not going to happen.
  20. They will not do this because its too much of a liability and too much work policing not only the names but also the content that will be coming out of the player and the mastermind pets via the player.

The only answer people have wanting this is just generic the players we report to you. Yea its easy for 10 people to report a player or players but its gonna be that 1 or 2 GMs that are on that will have to do MORE work trying to police these new issue on top of the other issues. If its roleplay content then who knows what they have to do to address the situation. They might have to witness the occurrence. I know for sure I wouldn't just accept another players word that a certain player said or did such and such. What if the person didn't like that other person.

You can make all the analogies you want but in the end its gonna be more work for them. You kidding yourself if you think they want more work. They can't moderate these forums and they are semi static. Someone post a thread and usually leaves it alone. So its easier for someone to come here and see the violation and who the person is and that is barely addressed. In the game a player can say something and move on or log off. I have seen players show off what is clearly comic book hero knock offs and then log the toon off.

You need to find something better then I will report and you respond.

Thugs: A mafia set is needed, and I can see a female thug set ala the Rocket Girls.

Mercs: I could see a KoA skin in there, along with a WW2 style of soldier.

Robots: I could see a fem bot option, yeah.

Zombies: I got nothing on this one, ATM.

Ninja: Female ninjas for the win.

Demons: I'd rather not see a female option for this one, personally. Instead I'd like to see another beastial skin.
    My bots are already female

There must be something wrong with the formulation. Why can't I see it?
Because masterminds are already a VIP only perk ?
