DP/MM, AR/NRG, or Arch/NRG?
DP has long animations and it's the only set out of these three that you'd have to go to melee to use the tier 9.
AR is kinda lacking in the ST department, but good AoE. It makes the best use of Boost Range imo since Full Auto is a narrow cone so it benefits a lot.
Archery has it all after you get RoA.
I don't mind going melee.
I also heard about AR being low on ST damage, but that doesn't bother me. However, the cone limit on full auto is irritating.
I have a TA archer and I'm kind of worried about it becoming a one trick pony type.
Well I mentioned AR because it would make a great ranged-only blaster with EM.
But why one trick pony? Archery has all the things you'd want from a blast set - tier 3 blast, cone, TAoE, snipe, mez power, and the gem of the set, a fast recharging mini nuke that is better than all the others.
Blasters are a one trick pony anyway. The only one that doesn't feel like this to me is my Dark/MM because of the aoe imob and drain psyche (since it's a debuff), but my other ones.. As much as I enjoy them (Energy/Ice is my fav) are one or two-trick ponies at most. No Blaster will come close to the versatility of your TA, although MM has -regen and TA's -regen is meh because it's on EMP arrow but Ta shouldn't be on this discussion because it's on a debuff set and besides the bow, has nothing to do with archery blast.
Well I meant...eh, I don't know, I just don't want it to be "ALL RAIN OF ARROWS".
TA/Arch was fun, because while TA was...meh at time, oil slick and EMP arrow were awesome.
I have a Arch Nrg and a Ar Device.. Both doing 4/8..
I think AR Nrg would be pretty cool. Especially with Boost Range..
Nrg allows for Range cap hover blasting with Aid self.. What more could you want.
Since you dislike DP animation and already have an Archer. I would have to say that AR seems the best route to do something new.

I love my DP/MM blaster. That's purely subjective though - if you really dislike the animations, you'll probably not enjoy playing the set. I know that I really wanted to like Archery and gave up after several attempts because I just couldn't get into the thwip! thwip! thwip! effects at all.
I hit lvl 50 on my DP/MM/Ice Mastery Blaster last week and it is by far my favorite blaster. I just hit soft cap on S/L defense and do not hesitate to enter in melee range. I even tested it with a +2/+8 S/L mission and dominated it solo. Some people do not like the animations, but for me it is awesome.
I also have a Archery/Dev/elec Blaster and he is a lot of fun.
I wish there was a SG for Weapon only Blaster/Corruptors/Defenders because I will so be there with a Raygun or Rifle Blaster as my next toon to lvl up.

Hands down, my favorite character to level has been my Arch/NRG. No question. The damage, the range, all of it. And getting her "Incarnatey" has been a TON of fun as well. And since they just keep adding stuff for 50's to do, she keeps having fun thwacking stuff. I tried the Corruptor and Controller versions, and hated them. Just not enough "ooomph". But Archery Blasters KILL! NOTE: I mean that literally as well as figuratively.

I'm looking to decide between those three builds. Mainly because I'm looking for a good weapon set.
DP is very interesting except...I hate the animations. Especially because seeing as how this is an RP character, he doesn't go well with animations.
AR I'm thinking will be great, however, how does AR stack up nowadays to everything else?
Arch I'm interested in, although I think it may be boring. I have a TA/Arch Corr., and while it is fun, I was turned off at oil slick getting bugged and not activating on certain maps (Did they ever fix that?)
So any recommendations for a weapons based blaster?
If all else fails...I'll probably roll an SOA.
