  1. It's not that I'm tired of being overpaid, but srsly people, what happened to bid creeping? It used to be that, if I wanted to sell something for 70,000,000 inf, I'd list it for 69 mill and change, so I could undercut the people selling at 70 even. These days I'm listing things at 60,000,001 and watching them sell for 75 million. And it's not always my item that sells, which means other people are listing it as low or lower!

Anyone can make a million inf an hour. A lot of people can make ten million an hour. When you include market price of drops, there are probably people who can consistently make thirty million an hour. Does anyone make sixty million an hour? At that rate, you'd be making a million a minute. Does it take a full minute to bid creep a little bit? You can save five million inf with just a few seconds of extra typing, and people aren't doing it!

Okay, I'm done ranting. I'll go back to collecting my ill gotten goods now.

I have a mish with a closed door near on the last floor of a lab map, and I'd prefer if my end boss were always behind the door... but sometimes he appears in another side room on the same floor.
Just being able to *see* the spawn points and how they are currently labeled would be a good starting point.

Ha! I was just looking for a video of that on youtube! No luck, though.
  4. I haven't done the new raid, and it doesn't seem all that appealing. On the other hand, I really disliked the old raid, for reasons others have given. Of course, that was when Champion was known as "The Hami Drama Server".

It's a hard thing to do right, and I hope they manage it some day.
  5. Congratulations!

I especially like the combination of your recipe for tea, with the "quote" from Socrates.
  6. You know what else I'd like as a vet reward? Those costume toggle powers that they give away at cons and as awards for contests and stuff. I'd love to have that PPD Hardsuit one.
  7. I zoned into empty space. It happened to me on a hero. I didn't try with a villain. I was kicked out of the zone when the time ran out. I was not aware of there being more than one instance. I clicked the big present, appeared in the WL zone, fought until the time ran out, then poof I was falling through space. I did not shift zones or use any doors except for that initial click on the big present.

When I fell out of the sky, it looked like pretty much everyone who had been in the WL zone with me wound up out of bounds also. We had a little party down there.
  8. My experience: I heard about the test on the forums, so I logged in to the test server. I went back to the forums to get the name of the global channel. In the global channel, I learned that I should be in Steel. All of that is just test server stuff.

In Steel, I found presents, opened them, smashed frostlings, just like last year. They were all gray to me, so it got boring quickly. On the live servers I would probably have gone to a level appropriate zone, or just left the spawns behind me like litter.

After a while I got tired of trying to figure out what else I was supposed to be doing so I asked on broadcast. A few kind people pointed out that blue circle on the map. There are so many icons on the map these days that it didn't really stand out even when I was looking for it. Or maybe it hadn't been there before? I'm really not sure. Everyone else somehow knew when the door would open or for how long or something. I'm not sure how they could tell.

I found the big present. I had no idea what it was or what I was supposed to do about it, so I clicked on it. Of course, that zoned me into the Winter Lord's domain.

I wasn't sure what we were supposed to do, but everyone else was clobbering a giant snowman, so I did that too. After a while, someone said "he's phased, find the guardian!" I wasn't sure what they were talking about. Then I noticed the "unaffected" message coming up, and the lack of orange or gray numbers over his head. I looked around for this "guardian" and saw a crowd of heroes beating up another giant snowman, so I pitched in.

We switched targets a few times after that. I was always following the crowd. Eventually the Winter Lord went down. I didn't get any merits or badges that I noticed. I wasn't even sure if we were done. A bit anti-climactic. I guess some people left, but I hung around beating up snowmen. They got pretty scarce after a while.

I could see the timer counting down. We got a couple of warning messages, then we were all booted out. I dropped like a rock for several seconds, then hit bottom in a patch of blue nothing below and way off to the side of Steel Canyon. I typed /loc on my way down and got this:

    2321.9 -2000.0 1410.9

Overall it was less confusing than the banner event. It was fun, but not fun enough to do multiple times unless I was with a team of people I enjoyed teaming with. If the rewards are high, that might get me to do it too.

Oh, and at the end I had 32 candy canes, a temp snow beast power, a mystery gift, and half a dozen present inspirations. Turns out I already had 9999 merits, so I guess I couldn't gain any more. I was already level 50, so no xp. I didn't notice the inf.
  9. I like this little black book idea.

I was a little surprised that they didn't end the program at the 5 year mark. As a five year vet, I find it a little embarrassing to keep getting shinies that make other people so mad. It's also annoying that if I decide to get accounts for my family members, they will have to start at 0.

If the devs are going to keep handing out powers, then I like the idea of focusing them on quality of life fixes that make sense for more experienced players. The reveal power is a good example. So is a little black book.

I wouldn't mind a free server transfer, though. And I'm looking forward to getting more character slots. Those are gifts that effect the account, not individual characters.
  10. You have to find the right place to right click, though. If the extra toolbars are full of powers, then you need to right click on the bar itself, not on one of the power icons.

    And welcome to the game!
  11. Looks like you're right. I have some other binds in here. I thought I had overwritten them, but I must have gotten mixed up while experimenting. Let me see if I can sort this out.

Yes, I misunderstood the +down part. I haven't done binds in a long time. This...

    /bind z "+down$$powexec_name Black Dwarf Step$$powexec_name Shadow Step"

doesn't seem to work, though. I can only use Shadow Step, regardless of whether the key is up or down. I still don't think I understand the +down part. Doesn't that mean "as long as the key is held down, move in a downward direction"? I found a fly bind that uses that, but I don't think it will help for teleport. Fly is a toggle, but teleport is a click power. I tried it without the "down", but it didn't help.

I do appreciate all the advice, though! I don't mean to sound ungrateful.

    This combination seems to work:

    /bind lshift "powexecname shadow step"
/bind lshift+lbutton "powexecname black dwarf step"

To teleport in human form, I press and release the left shift key, get a targeting reticle, then click the left mouse button wherever I want to go. To teleport in Dwarf form, I press and hold the left mouse button, get a targeting reticle, then click the left mouse button wherever I want to go.

Of course, if I get them mixed up in mid-air then I'm going to drop like a rock. I can't find anything better, though. I was hoping I could just use the word "step" for powexecname, but apparently it's only mastermind pet names where you're allowed to use partial names.

Say for example you're in human form. When you press the button down it will activate shadow step. When you let the button up nothing happens, since the power is grayed out. In dwarf form, shadow step is grayed out, and BDS activates on key release. Just make sure you count to 1 after pressing the key, because it's using a toggle key for something besides movement, and the command wasn't really intended to read quick key taps.

Then when you're in human form, you shift+click to teleport, and in dwarf you shift -> click to teleport.
I think this is what I'll go with. It turns out that, in practice, these do the same thing. I started with this one:

    /bind lshift+down "powexec_name Black Dwarf Step$$powexec_name Shadow Step"

When I push down the lshift key, Black Dwarf Step is activated. I get a targeting reticle no matter which form I'm in. If I'm Black Dwarf, then I can left click the mouse button to teleport. If I'm in human form, then left clicking will get me an error message. But when I let up on the shift button, I still have the reticle. Now, if I left click in human form, it will work. On the other hand, if I let up on the button while I'm in dwarf form then I get an error when I left click.

When I did the paired bindings:

    /bind lshift+lbutton powexecname shadow step
/bind lshift powexecname black dwarf step

it was exactly the same, but reversed. If I had switched shadow step and black dwarf step, then it would be the same.

I think I'll leave it this way for a while and see if I keep stumbling over the key up vs key down thing.

    Thanks everyone!

    PVP IO Drops

The part that I think is against the rules is playing the game "unattended". Leaving your characters to plink away at each other while you are AFK. I could be wrong, but most MMO's have a problem with that.

I can't abide boredom well enough to be a farmer, but maybe I'll tip-toe into a zone and see what I see.

I suppose I should have phrased that "I hope it could work the same way."

And I wasn't really talking about the back end, but rather the UI.

It is nice to know you read the suggestions board, though!
  15. One week, no action. I'm tempted to send a PM to Dr. Aeon. He's not a forum mod, but he has unique responsibilities in the Mission Architect area. He should have a vested interest in making this forum as functional as possible. Maybe I should try Mod 08 first. I don't like the idea of shopping around for a redname, though. It seems disrespectful. On the other hand, this is at least the second time a player has made a post like this and there hasn't been any response at all.

    Very irritating.
    What were the breakfrees for?

I was thinking that all the farming would happen in arena events, so no one would interfere, but I'm not sure how respawning works. If you are defeated in an arena match, do you automatically respawn or do you get the opportunity to self-rez? Is it the same in zones? On most servers I guess you don't really need to worry about being bothered if you hide in an out of the way corner of the zone.

The recharge on something like the wimpy /regen self-rez might be around the same as the cooldown period. Just have a suicidal regen with revive on auto stand next to a spines/dark scrapper with the damage auras on and spine burst on auto. Walk away. Come back in a week. Collect recipes.

It would be against the rules, and I'm not suggesting it, but I wonder why other people aren't already doing it?
  17. Hmmm. Bummer. I wasn't planning to use binds for shifting forms. We have so many power trays now, I just keep one tray open for each form. It's been years since I messed around with loading bind files and I really don't miss it.

I seem to recall that the powexec name command doesn't need a full name. I wonder if "powexec_name step" would have any chance of working? I guess I can try it when I get home.

But it raises a good point. We know people farm for purples and tickets and merits and badges and pretty much everything else that can be gotten in game. There must be people who do whatever can be done to farm these things, right? I guess you can't really macro it, or leave it unattended the way people did with the healing farms and stuff. Still... it surprises me that they are still so rare and expensive. I guess part of it may be that the people who get them don't ever sell them?

Just how low is the drop rate, anyhow?

    PVP IO Drops

Do PVP IO recipes only have a chance of dropping when you defeat another player? I thought when they first came out I read that you might get a recipe if you are defeated by a player. The prices of PvP recipes are so high that I'm actually tempted to set foot in a zone. I don't much mind being a punching bag if I'm being that well paid, but if I have to win a fight to get a recipe then I'd be wasting my time. I am teh luzer at pvp.

One of the best pets in the game is the Shivan. It's a temp power, but you can keep getting it over and over by doing the Shivan Strike mission in the Bloody Bay PVP zone. Details on ParagonWiki. If you want pets, but you don't want to roll a new character, grab some Shivans.

Or, if you are feeling very very very patient, wait for Going Rogue. You should be able to get a heroic Mastermind, eventually.
  21. I just hit level 20 and picked up my Dwarf power. I have been using the lshift+lbutton teleport bind. I'd like to keep using that, but the dwarf teleport has a different name. I tried something like...

    /bind lshift+lbutton "powexec_name shadow step$$powexec_name black dwarf step"

But it didn't work. If I was in Dwarf form, then it worked. In Human form, it told me that the black dwarf step power was not available at this time.

    Any suggestions?

Don't be absurd. The price cap should obviously be set by the NPC's. They know best. 250 for common salvage, 1000 for uncommon, 5k for rare. And set recipe prices should be roughly the same as the table cost for regular recipes. If something does acc/dam, then the price should be the average of the prices for an ACC and a DAM common IO recipe.

    Problem solved.

As for my OP, it doesn't look like anyone considers the effect a listing fee has on supply to be a problem, and the deterrent effect on markeeting is probably a good thing.
  23. How often are you going to exemp down?

Personally, I would go for the level 50 on the grounds that I need to be at my absolute best when facing level 50 content, but I can afford to be weaker if I'm exemped down.

Has someone already pointed out how much fun it is to turn on the GvE jump jet power, shoot way up into the air, then tap the jump button over and over? You just keep flipping. Whee!
