I went with Rad/Fire and couldn't be any happier. Mobs simply melt and most die too fast to be able to retaliate in any way, especially if there's a tank/scrapper on the team taking the initial alpha. However, there is a learning curve in figuring out when you need to duck out of the mob (because they're about to deal killing blows). You'll probably die a lot pre-mid 20s (what blaster doesn't), but once you're slotted with the good stuff, you'll own everything. Here's a video of one in action kicking freak-butt.

I managed to grab a picture of us (team 2). I think that glowing figure in the background is one of the other guys who was DC'ing
-
Tons of fun. I only wish that Babbage showed up so that the 12 of us could make him bend over.

I thought that CoH and CoV share the same market based on a couple people's comments here on the boards, despite being called different names (WW and BM), but someone in-game told me the other day that they do NOT share the same "space". So who's lying?
-
damn! I forgot about this. next time...
-
I vaguely remember something similar happening to my AR blaster. Just deactivate Ninja run, even though it's not ideal
-
The popular ones that I've seen seem to be Earth/, Ice/, and maybe Mind/. They all seem to work pretty well with it.

I went rad/fire and I'm very happy I did. Things go down fast, but Stryker is right. It is a dangerous combo and you will die a lot until you get a handle on the set. I died a lot pre-20s, but with the damage I'm putting out now (lvl 33 with SOs), things are usually dead before they kill me. Hell, I've even taken alpha multiple times (and still lived) because the tanker was too slow for me. My playstyle is usually go in, drop my PBAoEs and get the hell out of there, unless I know that another round of FSC/Irradiate will drop what is left. I'd also note that the long animation for combustion has led to my death, multiple times.

The combination of Illusion and FF was the definition of boring for me (deleted him at lvl 48), but the experience may differ from person to person

Ok, thanks guys. Guess I clicked hibernate a little to late then. >_<
-
I was joining a fight in the Portal Corps courtyard against 4 or 5 DE GMs and I guess I took some aggro of the tank (snowstorm, whirlwind, LS, and freezing rain/ice slick didn't make him happy) because one of them went after my head. Well anyway, I took a hefty hit and then clicked hibernate. The animation went off, but then suddenly the encasing around my toon shattered and I died. There was a DE swarm (the flies) that attacked me before/while in hibernation as well. I was just wondering what caused my death. Does hibernation not protect you against DoT, or is there something inherently sinister in the DE's attacks that proceeded to kill me while hibernating?

Thanks guys for helping out. I really appreciate it.
Quote:Regarding the overslotted Acc, I like fighting high conned enemies while teamed and I find that the 2nd Acc SO is more useful than a 3rd Dam SO (which often times only gives like 10 extra points of damage, according to MIDs--correct me if I'm wrong). However, I'll consider using those 2nd Acc slots for end reduc. You mentioned that you have alot of accuracy in the build, and you are right.
For Generic SO's I will go 1ACC+3DMG myself, and it seems pretty solid until I get on teams doing higher level enemies, and then my best stuff is aimed at team-mates, so not a big headache even then.
You did well on recharge slotting in your powers as well as making most of them work as they should, but you should consider getting some endurance reduction into the more expensive powers.
Quote:the EMPATHY powerset really screams, begs, pleads and demands Hasten if you want to get the most out of it. I seriously reccommend working it into your build for all your long-recharging powers (pretty much everything important to Empathy).
Quote:The last comment is more of a question. Do you specifically wish to avoid IO sets ?
Is it a question of Influence or just not gotten to that hurdle yet? The reason I ask is that even though some of the best IO sets are expensive, there are some very decent "uncommon" sets that really crank up a build. Once you get into your 30s, its well worth the effort to pick and choose a few cheap IO sets, or "franken-slot" from different sets to make every slot count for more than one "enhancement".
Again, thanks for helping me out guys -
Hi guys, so I decided to dust off my emp/psi, who I abandoned months ago because I hated it...gonna give it another try, but will need to respec his build. I was wondering if there was anything majorly wrong going on, in terms of power choices, slotting, and APP. I know that some of the powers are overslotted with Acc, but I hate missing. There anything I should change or move around? He's currently lvl 35. Thanks

One time I mapserver'd while in Ouroboros and when I re-logged on, I was in the area below the "water" when you usually hit the bottom. I was quite a distance from the top. If I didn't have fly, I have no idea how I would've gotten out.
-
So I colored customized all of the powers on my plant troller, but when I logged onto him today for the first time ever since i17, I found that all of his powers were resetted back to its original "color". He has 4 different costumes and his colored powers were resetted for 3 of them (costume slot #0, aka the first one, was the only one that remained unaltered). Did this happen to anyone else too? I haven't checked my other toons yet, so I'm not sure if it's just this toon or if it happened to others as well.
-
I've also been having issues with constantly being Mapserver'd. I almost always get disconnected shortly after I log in, or after loading up into a new mission. It's getting annoying. I'm using my college's internet (I have wireless and direct internet cable) so that might be an issue?
-
You can name it whatever you want. I went with Fallen Fortunata (a fortunata defecting to the hero side once GR comes out). Here were the other names I was considering. Most of them allude to being too powerful to control (by Recluse), switching sides, or just hard-to-kill/control-freak:
Magna Carta
Prerogative
Sovereign
Defiant Sovereignty
Nemesis
Renegade/Rebellious
Traitorous/Defective
Defiant Fortunata
Renegade Fortunata/Fateweaver
Indomitable Fortunata
Paralyzer
Paranoia
Bulletproof
Untouched/able
Supremacy
Domination
Indomitable
As long as you pick a name that matches your backstory, you'll be fine -
Ah, I see. Thanks for the tip guys. I also have a fairly IO'd Elec/Shield scrapper, but I wasn't under the impression that it would be any good in PvP. Is this a correct assumption?
-
So, I'm not really interested in immersing myself into PvP. However, I might want to stroll through the PvP zones to see what's it like. Which controller/defender toon generically built for PvE would be "OK" for PvP zones (i.e., won't get slaughtered and can sort of hold its own or defend itself from attacking villains). Most of my 50s are trollers (I have them all except for Mind) and defenders so that's why I'm asking about those sets.
These are the toons I have:
Ice/Storm
Plant/Storm
Fire/Rad
Earth/Thermal
Grav/Kin
Illusion/Rad
Dark/Dark (defender)
Kin/Elec (defender)
Emp/Psy (defender)
Thanks -
How easy is this to do? I do the AIM+BU+DP+Nuke combo very often, and this has happened to me only once or twice (negating the nuke, that is). At best it seems unreliable. I'll have to check if I'm frequently hitting 8 targets. Am I doing something wrong? I'm pretty sure I have it slotted for 2 or 3 End mods (can't check atm).

Thanks guys for helping out
Quote:I would've gotten those powers, but I just didn't have room for themI'm a little surprised you don't have Tactical Training Assault, and Tactical Training Leadership yet. Those are both rather handy to have.
Quote:Maneuvers, Aim and TT:Assault.
Increased defense for you and team, increased tohit and damage for you, increased damage for you and team.
If you don't have a Patron though, I'd recommend you go Ghost Widow and pick up Gloom. It's a phenomenally good attack.
In which case I'd recommend you get Gloom, Maneuvers and TT: Assault.
Below is my build if anyone wants to take a look at it. It's only using SO though (I'll probably eventually IO it out, if I like it enough. I know I have Acc overslotted, but I *hate* missing and I like to fight +2 enemies or higher so unless anyone can convince me why it's not a good idea, I'll keep it that way. I'm not really sure on the order of power-choices though. My goal was basically a Fortunata who could do stuff at range and melee.
