PvE build-toon for PvP
Earth/Thermal, and bring a friend to actually deal damage.
Too many alts to list.
If you are just trying out Pvp I would recommend the Ill/Rad or the Emp/Psy. Just keep moving and for gods sake get a team because you will be targeted repeated. You won't get many kills with any of those, but a Emp in a zone makes really good Stalker bait for the rest of your team.
alot of what makes a pvp build on a squishy is +hp bonuses and knockback protection. if you have all your +hp accolades from pve-ing and just go buy temporary kb protection you should be ok, but like others have said movement is very important. being anything other than a tank or scrapper will get the attention of everyone since thats all that you typically see heroside.
your thermal or rad would probably be best to start with for random zone pvp, stormies can be very useful too on a more organized team, and of course empathy is always welcome.
Ah, I see. Thanks for the tip guys. I also have a fairly IO'd Elec/Shield scrapper, but I wasn't under the impression that it would be any good in PvP. Is this a correct assumption?
ur fire/rad, ill/rad, emp/psy, and earth/therm can all be decent team based pvpers. If you build for some +hp and +recharge, and knock back protection they would make for good support roles and debuffer roles. A great way to get +hp is to get ur accolades. For your rads make sure to pick up enervating field and lingering rad so ur team can do extra dmg on the target. for ur emp, u have to pick up all ur heals, adrenaline boost, fort, RA, and Telekinesis from ur APP; keep ur team buffed and TK the target. For the therm, its imperative to at least 5 slot Heat Exhaustion. Forge and ur heals will come in handy as well. The Therm can be both a team help or good for 1on1s. Ur ice/storm can be decent against squishies in 1on1s if you slow and hurrican them. As for ur elec/shield, it could be decent in zone pvp if IOed for +hp, and +def, grab web grenade from weapons mastery and 6 slot comfront to protect ur team from attacks. All ur toons should have either phase or hibernate (or sometimes both for zone pvp).

Don't worry about being good. More so imo for zone play.
Before i13 I had a pvp toon that no one managed to take out one on one (not saying it couldn't be done...as I'm sure it could of been), but go into a zone and I was wrecked by teams.
Still had fun.
Go into PvP looking for anything other than the fun of just attacking (win or lose) other players is what I tend to draws other players away. It's also what allows them to get all upset if the opponent tries to trash talk.
Dying in PvP really means nothing. No debt. No nothing. Besides that, it's a bit borked as is.
But again. I just go into the PvP zones for fun button smashing against other players. If I win, or if I lose, YAY! As long as I have fun.
I've had some PvPers tell me I'd do better if I picked up super speed for instance. And I just smile and say "Concept doesn't allow it" and go on having fun.
The need to always win is part of the reason people don't get into it, I think. PvE makes you look tough, even when up against AVs. PvP makes alot of builds look like wet tissue paper.

I think this is the first mistake people have.

To the OP:
Fire/Rad, Emp/Psy, Earth/Thermal, and, to a lesser extent, Kin/Elec can all be viable PvP toons. If you want severe disruption and annoyance, go with Earth/Thermal but know you won't be able to kill much. If you want to be a support player, go with your Emp/Psy (which is actually a top-end Defender PvP build). The two most important things for you will be movement (you want AT LEAST Super Speed but having both SS and SJ is highly useful) and KB protection. I'd just buy some temporary KB protection if I were you.
Or you can create a 2nd build and dedicate it to PvP; that's what I've done on my Mind/Psi, Fire/EM, and Fire/Regen characters.
See what I bolded? Nothing before i13 really matters now. Powers, AT's as a whole, and entire game concepts (like mezzes) work differently in PvP than they do in PvE.

My point was, I had a PvP toon who was fine one on one, but went into zone and could be taken down when teamed up again. I still had fun PvPing...win or lose.
I could of easily have just said...
"I had a pvp toon that no one managed to take out one on one (not saying it couldn't be done...as I'm sure it could of been), but go into a zone and I was wrecked by teams."
The fact that I said Before i13 PvP was a timeline of when, mostly as a "I don't have a toon like that now".
\o/ Reading! It's what you should do!
My point was, pick a combo that you have fun in, and go in looking to smash some buttons versus other players, instead of MUST WIN OR MUST SOMETIMES WIN, and it'll be more fun.
I have more fun PvPing with a build combo I enjoy playing than a PvP FOTY build.

Dont stand still, always move.
"Dont stand still, always move."
Iv seen people do it on Squishy ATs, and it rarely works to save there life.Unless of coarse the horde comming after them was half retarded or it was there first pvp day or something along those lines.
Reguardless of the PvP Rules in this game, iv only seen a few things survive a horde bash, or 1 on 1 rummble.I Activly beat the hell out of 3 Stalkers at once on a FA/SS Tanker in Siren's Call one day.(Burn only sucks if your a Stalker)
Iv seen other players with Damage Resistant builds cream people now days in PvP Zones. You wanna be a PvP/PvE character?Build a Spines/Elec Scrapper, or a FA/SS Tanker, or a Dark/DM Tanker.Theres alot of options.
Thats the one thing thats always urked me about PvP in this game.

people say don't stand still cause of stalkers obvi you aint gonna survive a horde of villains you know unless you phase or something.

After all moving about doesn't help you at all, when all the other player needs to do is have you in their reticle and hit their blast.

So, I'm not really interested in immersing myself into PvP. However, I might want to stroll through the PvP zones to see what's it like. Which controller/defender toon generically built for PvE would be "OK" for PvP zones (i.e., won't get slaughtered and can sort of hold its own or defend itself from attacking villains). Most of my 50s are trollers (I have them all except for Mind) and defenders so that's why I'm asking about those sets.
These are the toons I have:
Ice/Storm
Plant/Storm
Fire/Rad
Earth/Thermal
Grav/Kin
Illusion/Rad
Dark/Dark (defender)
Kin/Elec (defender)
Emp/Psy (defender)
