Anything problematic with my Emp/Psi?

Biospark

Hi guys, so I decided to dust off my emp/psi, who I abandoned months ago because I hated it...gonna give it another try, but will need to respec his build. I was wondering if there was anything majorly wrong going on, in terms of power choices, slotting, and APP. I know that some of the powers are overslotted with Acc, but I hate missing. There anything I should change or move around? He's currently lvl 35. Thanks

Just a couple of quick observations that I see;

You mentioned that you have alot of accuracy in the build, and you are right.
For Generic SO's I will go 1ACC+3DMG myself, and it seems pretty solid until I get on teams doing higher level enemies, and then my best stuff is aimed at team-mates, so not a big headache even then.

You did well on recharge slotting in your powers as well as making most of them work as they should, but you should consider getting some endurance reduction into the more expensive powers.

You did not take Hasten. I normally would never recommend Hasten to anyone, since it kind of bothers me that Hasten and Stamina seem to be "staples" in every build you see.
However, the EMPATHY powerset really screams, begs, pleads and demands Hasten if you want to get the most out of it. I seriously reccommend working it into your build for all your long-recharging powers (pretty much everything important to Empathy).

The last comment is more of a question. Do you specifically wish to avoid IO sets ?
Is it a question of Influence or just not gotten to that hurdle yet? The reason I ask is that even though some of the best IO sets are expensive, there are some very decent "uncommon" sets that really crank up a build. Once you get into your 30s, its well worth the effort to pick and choose a few cheap IO sets, or "franken-slot" from different sets to make every slot count for more than one "enhancement".

I second everything Biospark said.

Your 2xAcc, 2xRech, 2XDam slotting in your AoEs and Will Domination is a great way to burn through endurance, since you'll need more attacks to defeat an enemy due to the low damage, and you'll be firing off your expensive attacks more often.

Poor end management can leave you in that nasty situation where you dont have the 1/4 end bar required to fire off Recovcery Aura when it comes up.

2 Recharge in Resurrect (which uses half an end bar)? I'd maybe jsut slot one end redux in there. Fortitude could use 3 Def and 3 Recharge. No teammates should be relying on the To Hit enough to make it worth enhancing, whereas the Defence bonus benefits greatly from slotting (its the same as FF's ally bubbles), and recharge means more teamates can get it.

I'd look into IO's. A couple of good sets to start accumulating are:

Thunderstrike, for 6-slotting in single target attacks. This gives +Recovery, +Accuracy and +Ranged/Energy/Negative Defence per set.
The enhancement bonuses for the power amount to 3 Damage SO's, 1.75 Acc, 1.75 End Redux and 1.75 Recharge, ie over 8 So's worth for 6 slots.
Start with one of these in Will Domination. You can get 4 sets of this with Psi Blast, which amounts to almost 2 SO's accuracy in each power and an extra +28% Accuracy as a global bonus (since you like high accuracy).
This global bonus also works on temp powers like Sands of Mu, giving them a decent accuracy. No more Sands of Whiff!

Doctored Wounds, for 5-slotting in healing powers. This gives +Recharge, very good for an Empath. The enhancement bonuses for these ar around 3 Healing SOs and over 2 Recharge and end redux.

Both sets are cheap-ish and dont require expensive salvage.

\.
theres a reason for that

Positron's i13 letter: We are trying to make PvP more accessible to new players, while giving experienced PvP'ers the advantage that comes with formulating tactics around the new systems we're putting in place. PvP from now on will be on our priority list. If something isn't working out, we'll be in there tweaking it and making it work, for the entire future of the product, not just Issue 13.

Regarding the overslotted Acc, I like fighting high conned enemies while teamed and I find that the 2nd Acc SO is more useful than a 3rd Dam SO (which often times only gives like 10 extra points of damage, according to MIDs--correct me if I'm wrong). However, I'll consider using those 2nd Acc slots for end reduc.

Ok. What power do you suggest dropping? Perhaps Psionic Lance?

Yea, I want to avoid IO sets. Pretty much, it comes down to wasting my time and becoming a tedious WW task. I only IO toons that I really like. Even frankenslotting is kind of bothersome to me. If I end up *really* liking this toon, then I'll start to IO or frankenslot it. Otherwise, I'll be satisfied with just common SO's, even if it's just sub-par performance relative to an IO'd empath.

Again, thanks for helping me out guys

With regards to which power to drop for Hasten, I can only guess which attack you get the least mileage out of. My tastes would tend toward the Snipe, but damage-wise Psi-Tornado is fairly low damage and I dont know how much you actually use it while teamed. It really depends on your use of the powers, but I would eliminate one of the attacks most likely.

An SO empathy defender will perform ok. The main difference is that you can put fortitude on only two people, while an empathy built for +recharge can use fortitude on more team mates.

For your build, I think it's ok. I would put an endurance reduction to your attacks.
