Quote:Did you...I don't know that game, but on the old Sega system, A, B, B, A, C, A, B often unlocked a cheat if you entered that in the start menu.
Look up on the wall, there on the floor,
Under the pillow, behind the door[?]
There's a crack in the mirror.
Somewhere there's a hole in a window-pane. -
Can't wait for this movie, though I have to say, as much of a comic book geek, and reformed Marvel Zombie as I am, Prometheus is giving this a run for its money in the anticipation department.
As for a JLA movie, I'm not sure exactly how to voice this, but the biggest problem I see with the DC characters teaming up is they are all so powerful/infallible to begin with. It's no surprise to me that Batman has been the most sucessful DC franchise, because Batman is the most relatable of the DC heavy hitters. Green Lantern, Wonder Woman, Superman, even Martian Manhunter - they are virtual gods. The menance that would be required to bring them all together would be so ridiculously improbable...
Well, like I said, it's hard for me to put into words, but I'll just say this - it's more "believable" to me for Iron Man to need help from Captain American, than Superman to need help from Batman. -
Quote:I don't know, I've read some posts in the past asserting that the company claimed it was out of their hands and there was nothing they could do about it.Clearly unwilling to fix it? Naturally. Or maybe it's one of those bugs that's hard to find because it's not consistent. It's not affecting everyone. I haven't had the forums log me out since some time last year.
IMO, that's BS. If I told one of my customers that at my real job, they'd find someone else to do business with.
And while I agree that it's not affecting everyone, it is obviously affecting enough people that these threads pop up every couple of months. -
If anyone is interested, I got a replacement for my expired Carnvial of Shadows Harlequin costume code (NA version).
This is my last unused code and I'd be willing to trade it for 1-billion inf, or an unused NA version of the IDF Ranger costume code, which is the only one I'm missing now.
Let me know! -
Quote:"Fixed" that for ya.Yeah but being bothered by the "unlikely" parts of a science fiction story is borderline ridiculous. Do you get bothered by the warp drives and transporters in Star Trek? Sure they are probably the most "unlikely" parts of that franchise but if you didn't have those kinds of things you would have Firefly.

Quote:Show me a casino where I am guaranteed to walk out with as much money as I walked in with, or an equal value of merchandise, and I will show you a casino where I will actually "gamble."A couple things that deserve clarification:
#1. Gamble -
To bet on an uncertain outcome, as of a contest.
To play a game of chance for stakes.
To take a risk in the hope of gaining an advantage or a benefit.
So, let's cut the crap once and for all. Super Packs are gambling. As is going to a casino. It's just a different type of gamble.
Vegas, Atlantic City, and all the various other casinos that have cropped up across the country hold no appeal for me because if I am going to spend my money on something, I want to spend it on something I have to show for it. If I'm going to spend it on an experience - a movie, a sporting event, a concert - I at least want to come away with a pleasant memory of the experience. I don't care how long a winning streak I have at a blackjack table, if I walk away having lost $100, then it wasn't a pleasant experience.
That to me is the difference between actual gambling - the kind that can ruin peoples' lives - and the hyperbole being thrown around in here with reference to Super Packs, or trading cards, or heck, those little football helmets they used to sell in bubblegum machines. By the way, do they still sell those? *looks through his desk draw for spare quarters.* -
Quote:Not because of this player. To me the costume set was a great part of the Super Packs, but it was only that, a part of them. I feel I got a lot of other great stuff for my points in those packs. In fact, I bought a second set of 24 on each of my accounts after I had unlocked the full costume set on both accounts in each of the first sets of 24 I had bought.I fully expect them to discount the packs first, after 6 months. Even then the discount will be 20% off. I seriously don't think they will ever have the costume parts or pet outside of these packs, no matter how much players disagree with that choice.
Why? It is because of the players who "held their nose" and bought the packs anyway to get the costume parts.
If the Devs annouced tomorrow that they decided to sell the costume set separately starting next week, I would not at all begrudge them. As long as it didn't mean they were discontinuing the practice of Super Packs for those of us who like them. -

They are fixing Hami-O's so that things like the Defense Debuff ones will no long buff a player's defense if they slot it in a defensive power. At least that's my understanding.
Quote:He said he was the buyer of those two items, and the fact that he is now marking those items up by 300% is just very shady to me.
I don't like it when people try to rip off others. -
Congrats to you both on the new roles, and the challenges and opportunities, and hopefully few headaches, that come along with them!

Quote:Sorry you don't like them, but I think they look 100 times better than some of the older stuff we have, like the Hellenic Cankles, er... I mean Sandals.I've mentioned it in another thread, and I HATE [the realistic looking female boots in the Sc-Fi set]. I don't mean that from an artistic standpoint, which is to say I don't think it's made badly. It's made well. I just don't feel it belongs. City of Heroes has a semi-realistic, largely stylised art style which draws looks from more realistic media but depicts them in a cleaner, more simplistic way. That's good, because it allows us to have costumes that look a lot better than a real person could look in the same costume in real life. There's a reason tights look goofy in live action movies yet look so much better in games - because in real life, they can never stick to the body as tightly. They fold, they crinkle, they stretch, and they simply don't look good.

Allow me to add my condolences to the others before me.
My dad passed away four years ago this July, and I was actually playing CoH when I got the phone call telling me he had died. He was two months shy of his 91st birthday. My mom however was only 68 when she passed away in 2000, so I understand well your loss, as well as the hollowness you're probably feeling.
Spend time with your family, reminisce about the good times you all had with your father and take however much time you need to mourn his loss. All your stuff will be here when you get back. -
Thanks for all the responses!
As for this...
If I understand that correctly, hitting the same foe with Mesmerize twice will not increase the magnitude of the sleep component since the power also has a damage component. Right? -
Quote:For the record, I wasn't actually asking for such a thing, but rather trying to provide an example of why it was possibly a bad idea.It would be extremely difficult to have the store recognize a per character purchase versus a per account purchase pricing strategy for a singular costume piece.
Taken another way, if you bought the singular costume piece for a single character only, but then later decided you wanted it available account-wide, should you/would you get a discount because you previously purchased it for your single character?
The thought of that proposition gives me a headache, and I imagine would give customer service, our community team and a whole bunch of other people a migraine to explain to customers.
To put it diplomatically, a per-character-costume-unlock via a Paragon Market purchase is not on any plan or schedule. If it did come up in any meeting, I would silently deep-six it underneath other desired features, items or services. -
Despite my Mind/Fire dom being my favorite character, there are a few things about Mind Control I've never really been sure about and never actually asked anyone about:
1. On a Hami raid, we Doms and controllers are told to "Spam [our] holds," against the green mitos. Does using my sleep, fear, and confuse powers do any good, or are only by two actual Hold powers contributing to the fight?
2. Do any enhancements or set bonuses increase the magnitude of a hold (or sleep or fear or confuse) power, or just the duration?
3. Do multiple instances of a hold, sleep, fear or confuse power stack? I am pretty sure at least some of them do because I think I've hit a boss with a hold only to have him continue to attack me, and then when I hit him with my second hold, he's held.
Thanks for any replies in advance. -
I don't know if anyone has mentioned it specifically yet, so I will - I absolutely love the realism of the folds around the ankles of the female boots. I know it's a small thing to praise, but it definitely shows the attention to detail that has gone into this set.
And I too think an opaque helmet option would be cool, but it's understandable if it can't be done, or added at this stage of the game.
All-in-all this set knocks it out of the park. I don't know what the participants at the Spring Summit could possibly come up with that can top, or even match the sheer awesomeness of this set. -
Quote:It has not. In fact, I get logged out so frequently that I have started copying posts before hitting the "Submit Reply" button, because it seems like if it takes me long than 60 seconds to type a post, I will get logged out and lose the whole thing.I seem to recall seeing Zwill or someone say it was set to log you out after eight hours of innactivity.
Then on top of that there were the random forum logout bugs. I'm not sure if that's been completely ironed out yet or not, but it hasn't hit me in quite a while.
It's ridiculous and the company should be ashamed that their forums are this user unfriendly, but they are so clearly unwilling to fix it that I stopped complaining about it months ago. ETA: Until today. -
Now... is there a video game that explains this webcomic?
j/k, I thought it was kind of funny although I got bored and stopped reading before they got to the point of actually trying to explain the game. -
Quote:In my opinion it depends upon how it's done. SBC was at his best IMO on the Ali G show where he would interview politicians or public officials and expose their fundamental ignorance of the issues or of what people really cared about; or better yet when he purposely made racists and homophobes uncomfortable or angry. Was it nice? No, but neither were the people who were his victims. Was it funny? Hell yes.Inane humor at another's direct expense is inane, and lacks the funny.
But things like the slapstick bit at the Oscars? I'll pass on that. It's cheap and unfunny IMO. I thought J-Lo did a better job of shocking folks. -
Quote:Boo. I'm not sure exactly what this bug was, but what was it hurting?Character Creator/Tailor
- An unintended secondary color option has been removed from the Quilted Jacket sleeves.
Quote:Ninja Run- Jumping to the left while a Titan Weapon is drawn should no longer appear to stab your character.
So that's why I saw that OSHA inspector chewing out Lady Grey the other week. -
Yeah, but that opens a whole can of worms. For example, what about buying costume sets, or even individual costume pieces for single characters? Not ALL of my characters are going to use Imperial Dynasty set, so why can't I spend 40 points and unlockit for just one character? Or why can't I buy Piece X that normally costs 40 points for 4 points for that one character who could really use it?
