  1. Defenders are like a disease to me, so I steer clear of them. The one and only defender I have was during fanmail's virtue server teaming sg. Sadly he's stuck at 38 still.

Melee toons are my blood line in this game with tanks and brutes leading the pack.
  2. I would be open to the auto teaming but it's the games decision as to who becomes "leader". The current game through the que seems to throw this role at anyone. If the tasks or objectives were the same for everyone the leadership would be shared by everyone. Sadly I have a big doubt it will ever happen but sometimes the devs surprise me.
  3. I was in que for an hour and out of que for 30 minutes and gave up. I guess I'll takes the blame for it since I developed the borked que system to frustrate the heck out of everyone.

    Thanks for tips.
  4. For the first time I decided to try my luck on the "LFG que" trials with my energy/electric brute on saturday around 10ish cst. I set in que for about 30 mins before I request help from the "help" channel on "where to meet" for the trials since the que is obvious a joke on live. (I was spoiled on the beta while participating on the keys trial.) So I sent out a few broadcasts in the RWZ while I continued to wait in que and of course it was a lost "cause". For a soloist who wants to give into his addiction to try the next level, I'm torn to try another server (I'm blaming bud for this since he noted "freedumb") or ask for if anyone has a "scheduled" trials I could join. Most of my toons are on the champion server and I'd like to introduce them to further progress on the trials. I'm a casual gamer so my nights are all thats available to me besides weekends (if scheduled).
  5. Ice/ dm ftw. I'm impressed with the shouts for kinetic. I try to get my head around the animations but it just feels like I'm queing the up the powers while dark melee seems to already be releasing smite, siphon life, and midnights grasp. OP - go to the beta server and try them out (if it's still open to the public).

I have to agree dark/ shield FTW, although fire/shield is pretty good as well.

The only brute that's still untouchable is my ice melee/ radiation armor; kills so fast I cringe at what IOs would do to the sets. :?

Now back on topic, wonder what the claws/fire would look like with 5 lucks of gambler recharge added to the SOs. Hmmm beta server visit to test...
  8. Franky don't worry about the 2 to 3 min completion times for AE. If that's your build you currently have the 3 luck of gambler recharges wont make it on +4/x8 with bosses. I use ultrawatts non purple build in the best farmer thread and even I can't manage that at +4/x8 with bosses(my drone adds the bosses). But I can muster 5 to 6 minutes which is perfectly fine. I could see your issue if it was taking 15 minutes at +2/x8 with no bosses solo.

Microcosm's guide should give you the tools to improve your time by 25%. The rest depends on you and your build.
  9. I think you have to take /FA in two mindsets the cheap build and the all out non purple but expensive build. SOs with patched in IOs will cry to 0x/+8 malts, longbow, carnies, etc solo against bosses. Teams you should be fine. Solo with expensive build you can take the above but you'll pulling around corners instead of the open area "I'm going to make you pay" 2 ring mistresses with 3 master illusionists plus assorted minions. It can be done but you'll be eating all your inspirations. Oh and this is without incarnates, including them does no justice to the powerset besides bloating it.

Sometimes I have to hit the key twice to both target and fire it off, but I've just gotten into the habit of "double-tap" at this point.
So at best the option is to spam his range powers in the form of macros or binds to keep him at bay? Have you found positive success with this prae?
  11. You'd think as long with cog side being out so long the revs would've corrected the Oni. It frustrates the hell out of me that he runs in more for certain enemies as opposed to others. It seems during the winter event he stayed back more while I was up at the front unleashing twilight grasp. Its been a while since I've played him, perhaps I need dust my ninja/ dark off and see if secondary powersets make a difference with different enemies. I wouldn't think so but this is cox and anything simple in thought is complicated in action.

The arsonist makes me wish we could use vengeance on our pets.
  12. By the looks of your sig you pretty much have your rv and sirens pvp toons for what's left of pvp in this game. Ah the joys of nerfing ATs to cater to the pvp crowd only to see pvp to become the lowest pop in this game.

Yes, it takes a considerably better farm toon than a craptastic ss/fire broot doing laps in AE. But it nets you considerably moar stuff, and that precious purple glimmer.

Ah, even a crappy purple drop still gives a lift to my heart.
I have to agree with this. I've found the most purples farming radios with my fire/ ice tank @+0/x8.
  14. masterpiece

    SM/FA Concepts?

My stone/fire is block of desire.
  15. I'm working on my stone/fire brute; as much as I like fault for the burn patch and tremor to keep them on their butts, its not on par with the mace/ claws/ elec/ db/ axe/ fire builds as far as leveling with SOs. My brute's currently at level 33 with +0/x8 and a drone, haven't been able to use herostats with two COH versions running so I'll have to do a test run tomorrow to see how bad its lacking.
  16. I would go Spiritual over the Cardiac, even if you skip hasten. Granted I have hasten in my build but with my slotting, I only use dark consumptionas a refresh of end if my blue bar hits 50 which seldom happens unless I'm fighting malt. The recharge will benefit all your powers and whether you choose gloom or siphon life to make your auto (personally siphon life FTW); your chain will be up with "something" unless you plan to face the Knives of Artemis, then just pray if its an alignment mission.

Plan on knocking your difficulty down with the carnies, the combo of 4 ring mistresses followed with 2 or 3 master illusionists just leaves a bad taste in your mouth.

I would guess yes, as they all have more aoes they can leverage with slower recharge times.
I brought that up as well in the best farmer thread with a db/fire brute and SOs. Sad thing I'd be willing to test the theory on the same map with toons from 1 to 50.

As far as testing is concern Bill Z, I think you could discuss both in terms of tickets/min or leveling speed. As far as time goes for those of us casual players 8 to 16 hrs is still a better option than say 100 hrs of the same old grind.
  18. I think that's what's truly being looked at is essentially how fast to ticket cap. You are totally right that the market is where the moneys at.

So what did you do Bill slot for mostly acc and rechg when using SOs?
  19. Well this is on my current brute and he does pretty good on all levels. It has no purples but it was fairly easy to come back in the day for about 100 million (issue 11 influence) without including the lucks of gambler recharge, miracle + recovery, and the numina regen/recovery. This was my first brute back in cov head-start.

There's reasons people do SS/Fire and Fire/Fire for their farming needs.
I wouldn't go that far, anything /fire can be turned into a 5 to 6 minute +2/x8 fire farmer. It just depends on build and whether or not you are novice or experienced in farming.

The "soul" epic is just as good as the "Mu", so Nightchill's build is good food for thought. I think I got this build from the "very best farmer" thread a long time ago so I'll share it for you (next time OP, read the "Very best farmer?" thread, its a good read and has tons of builds, mostly the same thing ;P):

Prices are low, but that also means the 150 million can buy you a lot of other inventions.

It doesn't do you any good to hoard inventions that you aren't going to use. Some inventions are unique and you can only use one per character. Some inventions you can use five per character. I find that the time it takes for me to level a new character gives me plenty of time to gather the inventions I plan to use for that character.
Their hasn't been a build I've made that the luck of gambler recharge couldn't make a bit better but I understand what your saying. Sometimes I find I spend more time crafting than enjoying the game like I used to back in 2005 - 2007.

Ditto, asking for a build definitely means you haven't blessed yourself with knowledge of AE farming lore minus the "my brutes better than your brute"fest.

  24. You can still net 100 million a day with a few unique IOs it s just whether or not you want to part with the IOs. Alignment farming wont net you the gains that the AE random drops do. Besides why would you part with a luck of gambler rechrg for a measy 150 million?

The ambushes would probably give them trouble I would assume.
