DM/Invuln, new brute player looking for build thoughts

Hey there, brute community -

As the title states, I am new to playing Brutes (and generally new to putting together builds at all), and I have a Dark Melee/Invulnerability brute I am trying to figure out a good build for.

I'll be doing some research in the forums here since I didn't see anything all that helpful/recent in the Brute guides above, but figured I'd go ahead and throw a request out for some build ideas, if anyone has one to share!

A couple of thoughts: first, I am assuming that I will need to include Tough and Weave in there, but am questioning if Maneuvers is needed? Also, based on my first look at it, I do want to include Unstoppable, unless someone convinces me otherwise.

Lastly, I am sticking with Soul Mastery for theme reasons, and am guessing that Cardiac is the best Alpha for this toon?

Well this is on my current brute and he does pretty good on all levels. It has no purples but it was fairly easy to come back in the day for about 100 million (issue 11 influence) without including the lucks of gambler recharge, miracle + recovery, and the numina regen/recovery. This was my first brute back in cov head-start.

Thanks Beast and deadboy! I'm going to play in MIDS some and will be back later on.

I was actually curious about whether Hasten would be needed if there was enough global recharge built in (to help the single target attack chain go smoothly, I mean).

Using something like Gloom > Smite > Siphon Life > Midnight Grasp, how much recharge does one need to make that work smoothly?

And if you do need hasten to make that go, I'm sure I can figure out something to swap out pretty easily.

And a follow-up thought to that...
I'm starting to question whether Cardiac or Spirit would be the best way to go here...endurance of course makes the whole thing run, but with Spirit it seems like I could continue more reliably without Hasten and lean more on Dark Consumption and munching some blues if I had to for endurance.

Anyone else have some thoughts on this decision, when having an endurance absorption power, of whether to go Cardiac for the pure endo, or Spirit to help increase how often your endo-draining power goes off?

I would go Spiritual over the Cardiac, even if you skip hasten. Granted I have hasten in my build but with my slotting, I only use dark consumptionas a refresh of end if my blue bar hits 50 which seldom happens unless I'm fighting malt. The recharge will benefit all your powers and whether you choose gloom or siphon life to make your auto (personally siphon life FTW); your chain will be up with "something" unless you plan to face the Knives of Artemis, then just pray if its an alignment mission.

Plan on knocking your difficulty down with the carnies, the combo of 4 ring mistresses followed with 2 or 3 master illusionists just leaves a bad taste in your mouth.

One thing my momma taught me...never, EVER put carnies in your mouth.
