Best Brute For Farming Inventions?

Myself and few buddies just rolled into CoX after a few yr afk. First thing, I luv all the new changes! Feels good to be back. Now we r in the thick of things after a couple weeks, our mains or pvp toons needs some invention luv here shortly. I know fire brutes are da bomb for helping lvl buddies in AE and earning some $$ with tickets which is already helping out.

But now, its time to think about how to get our hands on these expensive purple inventions. I myself dont mind grinding bosses. All I have atm to do so is my pvp toon, EM/Ninj stalker...but his 'gawd mode' slows down the process of chaining bosses. Is there an efficient Brute build out there to do so? Also whats the best way of farming inventions?

Thanx!

/cheers

You're far better off staying in AE and using the inf you get from selling recipes or crafted enhancements to buy your purples.

I'll have a new post soon regarding an /FA brute and the AE, but I have to make sure that all my ducks are in a row before saying more.

Be well, people of CoH.

I thought AE doesnt drop recipes?

Btw thnx for the reply man

Yes the fire brute is alot of fun in AE.

AE gives tickets. Tickets get random recipe rolls. Recipes bring in inf. And that's the path to the dark side.

I'm not sure but it seems a lot of the IOs you can get from tickets have crashed (reactives are down to 6-15 rather than 20m, res/def is now 20ish rath than 30-40, ToD and decimation crashed, regen tissue is crap now, etc etc) while purple have gone up. If this continues purple farming might end up being better. My guess is that a lot of people have started farming AE so the supply is now a lot more than the demand...thats not good.

Farming isn't always the answer. Playing the market can yield far more INF if you are patient. If you aren't patient, you can collect alignment merits and turn them into Luck of the Gambler: Global Recharges which sell for 100-150 million. You could also save them up and spend 30 or so on a purple IO, but it would take you several months of farming alignment merits to get a single full purple set.

You can still net 100 million a day with a few unique IOs it s just whether or not you want to part with the IOs. Alignment farming wont net you the gains that the AE random drops do. Besides why would you part with a luck of gambler rechrg for a measy 150 million?

If you want to mix things up a bit, roll a SS/Fire brute, get his S/L def to 32%-ish (one small Luck away from the soft cap), cap his fire resist and get his S/L resist as high as possible, and max out your recharge. Then, switch to a Hero and unlock Harvey Maylor, and run his arc until you get to the mission Defeat All Villains In Area, commonly known as the "Demon Farm".

With that character, you'll be able to farm both AE and Demons, for whichever set of rewards you prefer to chase. Because, while Bill is right, someone has to generate those purple recipes, or there'll be none on the market.

I happen to like being able to go to the Blackmarket and actually finding stuff for sale at affordable prices..or are you saying this with tongue in cheek? Hard to tell in the printed word.

Lisa-Confused at how a market that actually has things to sell at reasonable prices can be bad..

I believe that what he's saying is that the market value for the stuff most people get from tickets has crashed, therefore they're a bad thing to farm - since farming is all about maximizing rewards/time, you don't want to farm something with a low value and lots of competition.

I know LOTGs used to sell for 250 million back when I19 first came out. The reason for that was inherent Stamina and tons of people were re-working their builds for it. That is what would be referred to as a spike in the market. Right now, nothing major has changed the way people make builds in the past few months, so the market has normalized. Prices are low, but that also means the 150 million can buy you a lot of other inventions.

It doesn't do you any good to hoard inventions that you aren't going to use. Some inventions are unique and you can only use one per character. Some inventions you can use five per character. I find that the time it takes for me to level a new character gives me plenty of time to gather the inventions I plan to use for that character.

Their hasn't been a build I've made that the luck of gambler recharge couldn't make a bit better but I understand what your saying. Sometimes I find I spend more time crafting than enjoying the game like I used to back in 2005 - 2007.

This is what I did. On average I get a purple drop every 2 1/2 runs through the map. I've had as many as 3 purps drop in one run. You need to keep an eye on your recipes and keep deleting any you dont want to keep. Oddly, I also noted I seem to get more purp drops when I keep my salvage from also capping out. May just be random with regards to the salvage. I've been able to purp out 2 toons farming this mish at 50/8. Compared to AE, I dont get as much infl or rare recipes but it takes much less time to get a good purp drop than to earn 500-600M infl that most good purp recipes require. I craft and sell the purps I don't want for a fair profit.

OK, to actually answer the OP....

http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Recipe_Drop_Pools

In short, if you want to run content for Inventions, you need to access as many pools as you can, and hopefully 'good' pools.

PoolA drops of all baddies: Just kill until yer hands are tired.

PoolB is awarded upon mission complete. So get in and out fast, and complete the mission.

Pools C and D are combined now, and you get them via tix or merits. HOWEVER, you can also access C/D by killing bosses. So, you want as many bosses as possible.

In the current content, I find the best 'farming' NOT to be mindlessly running laps around the Council map, or doing demons. Doing that means you get no B drops(crap though they are). And always kill bosses, they fatten up your droprate nicely.

So what to do?

Radios. (OMG, people still do those?)

Run radio missions at +0x8, killing everything in them, as fast as you can.

Yes, it takes a considerably better farm toon than a craptastic ss/fire broot doing laps in AE. But it nets you considerably moar stuff, and that precious purple glimmer.

Ah, even a crappy purple drop still gives a lift to my heart.

I have to agree with this. I've found the most purples farming radios with my fire/ ice tank @+0/x8.

If your Brute can handle it, doing Borea's Rikti mishes at +0/8 will yield a very respectable purp recipe rate for your time spent in addition to Vanguard merits. I've had better luck getting purples that way vs. radios and they are all on easy to clear maps... without elevators.

I do something similar with my Claws/Dark Brute. I run tip missions on +0/x8, which gives me all the drops plus an alignment merit every other day. You can only do five tips per day, though. Once I've done that I generally find a TF to do and spend the merits on more alignment merits, but if you wanted to continue farming, radio/paper missions are a great way to pass the time.

I am not so sure the AE Farmed recipies market crash is real...

I made 700million imfamy last night while running my level 42 (now 45) Mace/SD/(now MU) last night.

YMMV though, I had some spectacular rolls last night.
