    Blaster - Sonic/Em
    Defender - Cold/Sonic
    Troller - Ice/Storm
Tanker - (mmm can't say for certain need to check out i14 for them, i think wp is coming back though) primary Em or SS works well
Scrapper - plenty of variations you can go with, just make sure you pick up webnade

Corrupter - Fire/cold ftw, thermals are mess peoples end up

aaannd I don't want to give any more advice until i look more into what i14 does, but all those toons will work for you, and yes before anyone says anyway I know there are other blasters/def etc that will work too, I just picked my favourites =D

    edit: don't go SR

    [/ QUOTE ]
    I14:

Sonic, Fire, or Psi with EM or Devices for Blasters.
Ice, Mind, or Fire with Rad or Storm for Controllers.
Cold, Storm, or Rad with Sonic, Psi, or Rad Blast for Defenders.
Spines with Regen or SR for Scrappers. Contrary to popular opinion defense doesn't suck in I14.
Fire or Ice with SS for Tankers.

SS with Fire or SR for Brutes.
Sonic, Rad Blast, or Fire with Rad, Cold, or Thermal for Corruptors (Elec/Therm is a good dueling build).
Mind or Fire with Elec or Fire for Dominators.
Necro or Ninjas with Poison, Storm, or Pain for MMs.
Spines or EM with Willpower, Regen, or Ninjitsu for Stalkers.

    Arena timer

    [ QUOTE ]
So I play as an MM and any one who plays one knows how much time it takes to get one ready for battle. I love arena only issue is theres no timer i cant summon all pets and then get my buffs ready with him. I go in some guy atks me right away so i turn on Pff and all def skills and just wait there should be a timer so i dont need to do this.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Tier 1 pets, Demonic Aura, tier 2, tier 3, upgrade 1, upgrade 2, go.

    Fear Power

Fear's just like any other mez and lasts maybe 2-4 seconds depending on what power you use. It doesn't detoggle and it doesn't guarantee an immobilize so it's not too wonderful. Best part about it it's usually accompanied by a sizeable tohit debuff.
  4. You can't solo. Even the base buff won't get you all the way there (you'll still be a bit short).
  5. [ QUOTE ]
Just wondering, what do you guys think the balance metric the developers are using when they compare defense to resistance?

I'll readily admit that defense, in theory, is probably better than resistance if only because you avoid some of the debuffs. But I get the impression that there is some hate against defense, because "not ever being able to hit your target is unfun" Though to be honest, I'm not sure that it's any more fun than wailing away at a target whose combination of resistance and regeneration is such that you can never significantly harm it.

If you invest an absurd amount you can get 45% defense or more in pvp. But any blaster with aim and build up will laugh right through it.

Just wondering do resistance sets have a similar hole that defense sets have with (power boost), aim, build up (targeting drone, focused accuracy, tactics, fortitude, mind link, etc.)?

Call me cynical, but +ACC bonuses and + to Hit, is a lot easier to come by with set bonuses or commonly available powers and damage bonuses are rather more rare.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Defense was decent even during I12, but moreso for heroes than villains (villains lacked - and still lack - the Aim/Build Up combo, and Focused Accuracy just wasn't available for them). As it currently stands defense is the way to go but that may change with I14. Defensive sets will still be good because they'll still have a bit of Elusivity and tohit caps at a much lower number than defense (I believe it's in the 20-30% range for most squishies).
  6. [ QUOTE ]
Now they have equal resist to energy, fire, and smashing. And pet damage did NOT get buffed. So in those cases I'd use Anguishing cry since you can only buff the bots damage slightly with WOP, and 1 bot at a time with Painbringer.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Who said anything about an MM?
  7. Yeah I have a Fire/SS Tank, Fire/Psi Dom, and Rad/Therm Corr to level on Freedom too. Spending most of my time over there during the day this week because I'm running a kind of market experiment, just to see how much inf I can make in a week of playing the market starting from scratch.
  8. I need that Cold/Sonic, Earth/Therm, and Sonic/Rad Corruptor leveled so I can actually do these TFs instead of having everything on Justice.
  9. [ QUOTE ]
I don't remember if it was I12 or I13 which did this but I remember that if I ever got into a tight spot, I could TP out of there and gather my bearings but now I can't. If I'm getting beat around, that's pretty much it for me. So what you're saying is that there's no hope for /stone?

    [/ QUOTE ]
Yep. But according to the devs your predicament is impossible because I13 made all sets equal for PvP purposes.

Just do what everyone else is doing and roll an SS/Fire.
  10. The PvP changes in general combined with some of the PPP changes tended to shift the balance of power to villains, I think. Due to the villain ATs' design and generally higher damage output compared to their hero counterparts they seem to have the advantage right now, though a good Scrapper is still hard to top.
  11. [ QUOTE ]
Old pvp was a joke. It was great for stalkers and the veats, and everyone else hated having toggles dropped. The old darth noobians and cheez sithians liked it...since their precious star wars galaxies got destroyed. Also the old 40' range on impale was gay. Mez length was real gay. Unresistable assassin strike was gay. Blasters unresistable damage was gay. All defense sets were useless.

    [/ QUOTE ]
You really don't have any idea what you're talking about, do you?
  12. If you're new to CoH, you might find that PvP suits your style. Those of us that experienced PvP before they completely changed it might have different views (I still think it's fun but it's a shadow of its former self).

    Thank You Devs

    [ QUOTE ]
I cannot see the need for such changes in PvE.

    [/ QUOTE ]
The same goes for PvP. There no reason for the changes to be made other than someone's seemingly arbitrary decisions on changing everything around willy-nilly.

    [ QUOTE ]
Funny. I look at it more like PvP 2.0 is the Devs way of yanking the training wheels off of many who thought they were really good.

    [/ QUOTE ]
You must not be looking at the same PvP 2.0 I am.

    [ QUOTE ]
That's silly. Basic gameplay mechanics were not removed, but altered. *snip*

    [/ QUOTE ]
You didn't answer my question. What do you think would happen if they made those changes to the PvE game?

    /EM or Mental

Elec was one of the good secondaries in I12. It's not so much now. Better than others, sure. But don't rely on Lightning Field as your anti-Stalker defense because as soon as you get mezzed (and you will get mezzed) it'll detoggle. Also Thunder Strike does half the damage of Total Focus for the same end cost, recharge, and animation (because it's an AoE) and doesn't even guarantee a mez.

    [ QUOTE ]
No different than what went down when Enhancement Diversification came along. It was all for a reason yet much of the communuty cried for months even though it ws stated that ED was necessary to make future issues work.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Except ED did exactly what it was intended to do. PvP 2.0 didn't. ED wasn't a fundamental change to the way the game worked. You had to shove some slots around to comply with it, it's not like it completely invalidated some characters and made others ridiculously overpowered.

    [ QUOTE ]
The devs stated that these first rounds of PVP changes were mainly for arena. Which to me, means that future changes are on the way to help make zone pvp better as well. These things don't matter however to so many here it seems.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Except when you look at some of the stuff that was changed you realize that either 1) it wasn't designed for arena, or 2) the people tasked with reworking PvP had no idea how it actually worked. They didn't want people running, so they added travel suppression. That isn't much of an issue in arena since you can't run anyways. They didn't want people dying because of TP foe, so they added a small intangible period after being TP'd. That isn't much of an issue in arena since it's too small to bother TPing and almost no one uses that as part of a team tactic.

    [ QUOTE ]
What matters it seems, is making sure that anyone who DOESN'T agree that PvP sucks now is made to feel that they're completely foolish for thinking so.

    [/ QUOTE ]
No, it's just the people who constantly praise PvP 2.0 either didn't play PvP 1.0 much or sucked at it, and have now been handed the training wheels to make them think they're good.

    [ QUOTE ]
It's sad that so much time is wasted on bickering and complaining about what WAS.... in a game where things are pretty much guaranteed to change often.

    [/ QUOTE ]
What do you think would happen if these changes were implemented into the PvE game? What if mez protection was no more, what if you were constantly suppressed, what if your heals decayed, what if your buffs were mostly useless? Do you think people would stick around when the basic gameplay mechanics got pulled from underneath them and got replaced by something else which was, by almost all accounts, worse than what was before?

    New PvP

    [ QUOTE ]
I just hope they are concentrated on getting the word out to the player base on how cool they've made PvP.

    [/ QUOTE ]
They'd be lying to themselves so I don't think it's a priority of theirs. At least some of the changes in I14 are for the better but it's too late, really. Many of the really good PvPers have left and - guess what - the new people this system was supposed to draw in never showed up.

Oh, and I'm not an "old school" PvPer. I didn't even start until about a month before I13 went live. I had the itch to PvP and I dislike most of the I13 changes, but once you get bored with the PvE game there's not much else to do.

Stalkers can't even two shot anymore, they even slowed ET down to extend lives.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    THIS IS NOT TRUE!!!!

I can 2 shot Blasters/Defenders/Controllers, and on rare occasions I've 2 shotted a few scraps too, it can happen!

No inspirations. Just Build Up. True story.

    [/ QUOTE ]
    Shark missiles don't count.
  21. Might have to dig out my Rad/Psy and Storm/Sonic again then, eh? >.>
  22. Build with IO sets focusing on +HP, +recharge, +accuracy, and +damage. Try to get as many of the accolades as you can (specifically the +HP ones - Born in Battle, Invader, and High Pain Threshold).

    Yes, yes, and kind of.
